  1. Now he just go info he was non tendered, and the great f***ing baseball insider just said if Cora is still out there that he would like him. Holy s***! Does this guy have any inside info. What a joke.Piece of s***.This is why i don't believe anything this joke says.
  2. What is wrong with these idiots on the radio. They just suggested that they would have liked to have traded Davis for joey Cora. Carmen then said I want cora on the team. What the hell. How can they be insiders?
  3. QUOTE(qwerty @ Jan 14, 2005 -> 01:01 AM) Jobert cabrera. Yes he was, he was signed yesterday
  4. QUOTE(qwerty @ Jan 14, 2005 -> 02:37 AM) He seems to be slow on these things quite a bit. no kidding he will break the story tommorrow that Cora signed with the indians.
  5. QUOTE(Jeckle2000 @ Jan 13, 2005 -> 01:07 AM) Hawk is the voice of the Sox. I can't imagine liking the Sox and not liking Hawk. although I like hawk, I truly don't understand your comment. I do not have to like any of the announcers just because I like the team. I don't get it. I think what you meant was hawk is the signature voice of the team.
  6. QUOTE(beck72 @ Jan 11, 2005 -> 07:43 PM) no one has said that the sox will trade Rowand, Harris, Garland and top prospects for Vazquez. As for the "Vazquez hard on" it seems the sox braintrust has one, as they are the ones looking for Byrnes as probable trade bait to AZ. Don't kill the messenger. But a team who trades for Vazquez [if they give up good talent] is likely to get some cash back, to make his salary around $8 mill a yr. agreed, your post is exactly right.
  7. QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Jan 11, 2005 -> 05:51 PM) I agree with you. Any trade for Byrnes means that either Rowand or Pods is sent packing. But where we disagree is what the A's would want for Byrnes. It's not Rowand or Pods because they picked up Byrnes replacement in the Hudson trade. if your posting to me I never suggested we trade Rowand to the A's. if your not posting to me, then please disregard this post.
  8. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Jan 11, 2005 -> 05:47 PM) Seriously, this kid needs to be beaten. Agreed, this guy is a piece of s***. He is not a member of this board correct?
  9. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jan 11, 2005 -> 04:01 PM) Someone posted it last night, and I guess it got traced back to Rashid, who is infamous for making up BS trades. They moved it off of the site, but I am going to leave this up for all to see. Who is this rashid guy? is this the same dude that knows beastly?
  10. Look this whole thread is speculation including my comments on munoz. In fact most of this board is speculation. Point is IF the Sox are interested in Bynes, which maybe a rumor then they may interested in trading rowand which they might not. I beleive that is what this thread is about, and thats the way it will end until somebody talks to the media.
  11. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jan 11, 2005 -> 02:03 PM) I think it's unfair to bash Munoz and say that he won't make it as a bullpen guy. Frankly midway through the season in 2004, most of us thought he'd be in our rotation for a good period of time after the stats he was putting up at Birmingham. What happens, the guy has 1 real bad start (I blame this on pitching on 2 to 3 days rest) and is forced to stay in there and take one for the team, and doesn't have the same type of success down at Charlotte (a hitter's park) than he did down at B-Ham. He showed enough in Septemeber in the pen however to suggest, that's where his long - term future should be. A guy who's that young, and with a curveball that he has, shouldn't be given up on. Beane loves young bullpen guys who come cheaply, and I'm sure he'd be interested in Arnie for the right price. your certianly entitled to your opinion. I would not run out and say this guy has a curve ball like Zito's. Zito is a proven winner. Munoz has proven nothing. he will hang around because he is a lefty, if you want him on the team, then keep him. I don't necessary fall in love with unproven players. he has been talked about for three years. When should we stop thinking he is one of the great lefthanders to come around. he has slipped in the perception of our team and the baseball experts. He will not be great. Serviceable...maybe but lets not get out of hand and think we can dumb our crap on billy beane. Beane knows these are second rate players. That's the only point I am making. Some on this board tend to overrate and over inflate our talent.
  12. QUOTE(beck72 @ Jan 11, 2005 -> 12:42 PM) The a's are reportedly looking for help at 2b. They have 2 RH hitters, in Ginter and the guy who missed all of 2004. Willie's LH bat and good OBP should appeal to Beane. The A's also could use a LH bullpen arm. They only have Ricardo Rincon who threw 30 innings last yr. Munoz and his zito like curve may be a match. But we'll see how this all pans out For th elast three years Munoz was suppose to be Zito. He is not. never will be, never can be. He will have one more year to try to prove he is a bullpen member. he is blessed he is lefthanded, otherwise he would be done. lefthanders will continue to get a break because they can pitch to one guy in a certain situation. I think Beane is alot smarter than this board when it comes to our farm system. Just my opinion.
  13. QUOTE(beck72 @ Jan 11, 2005 -> 11:40 AM) Also, if the sox work out a 3 way deal with AZ [seeing how AZ couldn't get Byrnes from the A's themselves], AZ would have to kick in some of their cash [from the yanks and dodgers deals] to the Sox with Vazquez. What the A's would want for Byrnes from the sox, who knows? Harris, Munoz or Diaz, and another prospect? Beck, I am certain that beane knows that Diaz and munoz cannot pitch. We in chicago and the young people on this board are the only ones who think diaz and munoz can pitch...in the majors. Those guys are throw ins.

QUOTE(LDF @ Jan 11, 2005 -> 08:45 AM) i couldn't find the thread where we were talking about the rumors of soriano, so i made this. according to mlb.com team report, cbs rumor page, and espn insider, tex is looking into trading soriano esp now to houston. since tex is looking into getting c delgado. carlos wants a 15 mil+ contract and tex is not too happy in losing in arb to soriano where he is going to make the money he is going to and plus he made 23 errors in the field. so i hope helps you. i believe its on rotoworld as well.
  15. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jan 11, 2005 -> 04:01 AM) I'm guessing they will go to arb or get closer. Although they may of passed some deadline, but I doubt it. I only think that deadline applies to unrestricted free agents not free agents. Worse case the Sox will sign him to a one year deal now and then continue to work out an extension over the offseason. Well, this year it seems alot of teams are interested in rowand. Understandably. That stated and the fact the Sox hate arbitration and don't like to continue to arbitrate two years in a row, tells me that they could consider trading him. Its not a great situation but if they could get bynes, they could indeed trade arrow away for the pitcher or 2b they want. Who knows its total specuation. I believe I sense that KW is not done.
  16. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jan 11, 2005 -> 03:52 AM) Just curious, but where the hell does ESPN think Byrnes is going to play? I don't know if anyone has mentioned that yet in this thread but with Spod, Rowand, and Dye the outfield is full and none of these guys can play anywhere else. If they acquire Byrnes either Spod is going elsewhere or they think Thomas is going to be out a while and plan on DH'ing Dye or something (I don't think thats the case). Sometimes I really wonder what the news media is thinking when they write rumors. I'm a Byrnes fan by the way and I'd like him here, its just not going to happen this year. As i have speculated earlier in thread it could mean that the sox would trade Rowand. It seems they are at an impasse with his contract right now, and many teams like him. I am not saying I like it or saying it will happen. If they did sign byrnes, it reopens that door, for a garland and rowand trade to the D back for vasquez. For whatever reason KW is fixated on that guy. I am sure it won't happen. Whats the update on rowands contract? this is why it could happen.
  17. QUOTE(qwerty @ Jan 10, 2005 -> 06:27 PM) You are right, i do hate it. That is too much for the type of numbers vazquez would most likely put up here. I am not the GM, but we have not signed Rowand and teams seem to be interested in him. For whatever reason we love vazquez, its just something to think about. Kenny is nowhere near done yet.
  18. Here is a thought although you will all hate it. Its pure speculation and proably will not come true. What if we were interested in bynes to take rowands place. We send garland and rowand to AZ for vazquez. AZ was rumored to want Rowand and Garland before during the Johnson three way. Just a thought. Not liking it but it makes sense. AZ wants Rowand, we have not signed him, and I bet he is holding out for more money. We must far apart money wise or this thing would have gotten done. Just something to think about.
  19. QUOTE(JimH @ Jan 9, 2005 -> 03:53 AM) Jill "Buh Bye" Carlson is on now, doing the sports, Fox Chicago. A Sox fan. Love a chick who's a Sox fan. Jill is a Sox Fan "10" ... normally a "4" but add a 6 pack ... voila! TEN. Feel free to keep her.
  20. QUOTE(JimH @ Jan 9, 2005 -> 03:44 AM) Are we not scraping the bottom of the barrel with Aurillia? The idea is to upgrade. If they don't get Iguchi I smell a trade. You know he wants this done before the SoxFest whining starts. If people are calling the season ticket reps griping about Willie Harris, what happens when there's an open microphone? God help us. By the by ... shouldn't the Sox have a capable guy in the minors who can step in at that utility role? Wilson Valdez, a stiff breeze blows him over. This is another area where they have a problem ... depth. When do the minor league invitees come out? Can Robert Person play SS and 3B? Do you think there's any chance for Larkin? As you know I think our minor league system is terrible. For a team that cannot take any chances with payroll, we should have backups ready to go for a week or two at a time. We don't.barry larkin would need to start, therefore you would move Uribe to 2nd. I saw alot of larkin this year. I made five trips to cinci this year. Larkin, seems slow at the plate to me. larkin is not coming here. LEts keep focused on Iguchi, still think something is there.
  21. QUOTE(JimH @ Jan 9, 2005 -> 03:34 AM) This is not uncommon for you. They do tend to remember you. In fact, they tell me all about it the next time I see them ... they snicker and giggle a lot. See: Bertucci's. For the record ... my idea on the PBR. Agree on Beltran, would love to see him stay in the NL Central, but I think we will have to accept the NL in general. Mets really want to reclaim part of that NY territory, and good for them if they have money to burn. Beltran is excellent. Good quote from an NL exec today, "I know he's good, but is he $16M good?" Let's not forget that in addition to this whole 2B saga, Sox need a guy who can play multiple positions, including (especially) SS and 3B. Hate to tell you, the only free guy out there who can do that ... Rich Aurillia. Let it be known I was the first to bring up aurilla when we talked on the phone earlier this week. Cora is still an option for second.
  22. QUOTE(JimH @ Jan 9, 2005 -> 03:20 AM) Issue #1: Oh my. How can you live with yourself? What # is that one, #4 or #5, I don't know the numbers but I do know it goes: Thou Shalt Not Lie. What time is confession? Issue #2: Beltran, first of all I want him in the National League. As for what I think will happen, when has there ever been a Boras client who didn't go for the maximum cash? The two NY teams will have a whack off fest over this guy. I will say the Mets. You can bet Clemens is waiting to see if Beltran remains an Astro. I want that NL Central as strong as possible. I am also worried the Cubs have been eerily quiet this winter. As for Maggs and Detroit, hey, good for them and good for Ordonez. He is going to sign somewhere, and will at some point hit a big HR vs. the White Sox and there will be all kinds of pissing and moaning about "why is JR so cheap" from the cynics of the world. Such is life being a baseball fan. Your bride had what at Peanuts? Enjoyed? totally skipping the reaction to number 1 Please get over yourself. #2 - i want beltran in Houston, just so Cub fans can piss and moan. #3 Sox fans will need to know that a guy with a bumb knee is not worth 14 million. He may hit a big HR but, he will never be the same and will bevery vulnerable to injury. IMO he shoudl ahve accepted the contract we offered. He has no right to be pissed at the whitesox. He is a complete idiot. #4- Wife had soup and salad which she liked alot. Waitress remembered me.
  23. QUOTE(chisox2334 @ Jan 9, 2005 -> 03:19 AM) by the way I havent seen anything giants message boards about it. Well i think that is what I am saying through this whole thread. Until it hits major media its nothing. I am sure there are many tlak show hosts who speculate all night long.
  24. QUOTE(CaliSoxFan @ Jan 9, 2005 -> 03:16 AM) Is this the same host that said the sox will sign Rob nen of a minor league contract. I will keep in tune to KNBR 680, but football is on right now. Could be. Have no idea, but it would be great if you keep us up to date with whatever you hear.
  25. QUOTE(JimH @ Jan 9, 2005 -> 03:08 AM) Agree. The 45+ yr. old hottie waitress recommends them ... with a side of Cialis. You know what I'm sayin'. Your wife must think I'm nuts, suggesting a Naperville place gets PBR on tap. Or did you claim it as your idea????? On topic: I wonder if this inquiring about Durham is a smokescreen for the Iguchi negotiations? All of those agents tend to be a pretty close fraternity, you know what I mean. Thick as thieves. Remember, KW said he'd have his team done by this week, barring anything unforeseen. As I said yesterday, welcome to January the Unforeseen. Off subject: Totally claimed it was my idea, because it was. On subject: Just get somebody other than Harris to play second. NAother subject: Whats your take on what Beltran will do?
