  1. QUOTE(JimH @ Jan 7, 2005 -> 01:51 AM) Sorry for the triple post ... server issues? Qwerty ... what you don't seem to be getting is White Sox management appears to have a problem w/ Harris. First they tried to sign Vizquel and Uribe would've played a lot of 2b. Now they're talking to Iguchi. Cora has also been mentioned. Forget about cheaper versions of players for a second. The issue is, they have a beef with Harris. When you have Dave Wills ripping into Harris, that tells you something. They just signed AJ Pierzynski, does that sound like they want guys on the team who are timid, scared? No they don't. Guillen by all accounts is not a fan of Harris. They are looking at other second basemen. It all fits. i totally agree, ozzie does not want harris. They will go after other players. thank god.
  2. QUOTE(JimH @ Jan 7, 2005 -> 01:42 AM) Think about it. The White Sox, as presently constituted, are in no mood for growing pains. They will want to make damn sure they've got veteran help in the wings in case Uribe gets too fat or Harris can't improve. And not just roster filler backup guys, like Dransfeldt. Capable, proven guys. Can you say Alex Cora, who is a guy who's sniffed the playoffs in his career. Cairo is ok too, but only part of the equation. Iguchi ... not MLB experienced, but age 30, no kid, and Japanese baseball is not the same but it's very competitive. They know what pressure is. Shingo is a good example, not to generalize but those players understand performing under pressure. Harris ... may grow into the role but do the Sox want to wait? This is a go-for-it team. Pitching all locked up, Pierzynski signed. Plus you have an inexperienced starting SS. Do the White Sox want to push for a division title with an inexperienced keystone combo? I say no. It doesn't matter what I think, but what I think they'll do is change the middle IF around. Crede is not going anywhere, they don't think he'll perform any worse and he is solid defensively. Konerko is not going anywhere right now, sorry TQ, pay up the pitcherssss. Look what they tried to do at SS, they tried to upgrade with a veteran, didn't get him. And they're trying to upgrade at 2B as well. Smart. Some here may not think these other guys are an upgrade over Harris but guess what ... KW does. Hang on folks, there is at least one more move coming. I would guess two. Well again I agree with you but are you agreeing with me or not?
  3. QUOTE(JimH @ Jan 7, 2005 -> 01:30 AM) Hmmm ... If they only sign Iguchi which I feel is a better than 50/50 proposition, they may hang onto Harris. That all depends on something we do not know ... if Iguchi can or will play SS. We don't know if his shoulder prevents him from doing so. If they do what I think they might do ... sign both Iguchi and Alex Cora, then Harris goes. I am not so certain they don't have the $$ to sign both. We are all assuming they don't but remember they haven't started paying players yet. Things change in spring training. Concur with you about not wanting to get into the Willie discussion, it's been beaten to death, I'm as guilty as anyone. If they cannot get Iguchi on the dotted line, and think Alex Cora fits better ... then Willie goes bye bye. Ignuchi will not be signed to be a backup

  5. QUOTE(qwerty @ Jan 7, 2005 -> 01:27 AM) Isn't the reason for getting another infielder to add depth? I do not see us getting rid of willie if we sign an infielder. Actually Qwerty, what I am saying although many would disagree, is that they don't want harris. I am saying that if they sign ignuchi, they will also sign another back up middle infielder, and get rid of Harris. if they don't sign Ignuchi then I believe they should sign Cairo, and then they will keep harris. I am not a Harris Fan, this is just what I think they will do. Just my opinion.
  6. QUOTE(JimH @ Jan 7, 2005 -> 01:22 AM) Great move. Did not overpay and they have him under control through 2006 which gives Pierzynski incentive to behave. Perfect scenario. This guy is hard nosed and plays his ass off. Perfect #7 or #8 hitter, a threat in the lower order. They have a grand total of $3.6 or 3.7M tied up in catching including Burke. Damn good catching staff at that price. Plenty of room to bring in another IF ... or two. There is at least one more move to be made, don't be surprised if it triggers another move. And some guys will be brought in on minor league deals for depth and competition. Williams is imperfect in certain ways but no one can deny he works his ass off to make this a better team, or at least try to. Iguchi, Cora, Cairo still in play. you bet I completely agree. two more players will be added and hopefully Harris gone. Just my opinion, Not trying to even start a conversation with all the Willie ass kissers out there. If they sign ignuchi willie will be traded or reassigned.
  7. hey Jim, what do you think about the AJ signing?
  8. who cares about reed or garcia, its done, his point is could we have done the deal without Reed. That's it. That's what he will ask. The answer of course will be no.
  9. QUOTE(Beastly @ Jan 7, 2005 -> 12:51 AM) Sry, I forgot that I'm of the "young sox fans" Terry. Yes that is correct
  10. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jan 7, 2005 -> 12:58 AM) You know what, I like what Bruce does for ESPN/Comcast, I like his knowledge, but f*** Bruce. You know what, f*** the media too. If this were the reversed situation (Sox/Cubs thing here for a minute) -- and the Cubs were the ones improving their team with all these moves and what-not, and all the Sox had done had made some minor moves -- everyone would be ripping the f*** out of this team. Kenny Williams has a plan, whether or not you agree with that, that's besides the point. He wanted to improve his pitching staff, and make his team more speed/defense oriented, while still keeping some power. He's done that. He's solidified our bullpen with Vizcaino and Hermanson, made our pitching staff the best since '93/'94, he's made this team a bigger threat on the base paths with Podsednik, and he's improved our situation behind the plate with this latest signing. Jim Hendry, on the other hand, has let a career year from Glendon Rusch earn him two million and, the Cubs will rely on him as a starter. He's resigned Nomar and Walker (both solid moves), and he's overpayed for Henry Blanco. Meanwhile, he's failed address the biggest problem of their s***ty bullpen. LaTroy Hawkins, Kyle Farnsworth -- that's all they have down there. Way to go, Kenny. Nice post
  11. QUOTE(aboz56 @ Jan 7, 2005 -> 12:57 AM) He'll be starting opening day, not Garcia. aboz I completely understnad what you are saying. they probably had to give reed to get the deal done, because nobody except our scouts thinks borchard will be any good.
  12. QUOTE(Beastly @ Jan 7, 2005 -> 12:50 AM) We will beat the twins. They have no where near the team we have now. You can disagree with me if you want to, I'll understand that. Lets play the games first. one average catcher does not make a season. there is a reason he only got 2.2 and a reason others didn't snap him up. Relax, we are better than we were yesterday but we are not a championship team.
  13. QUOTE(Beastly @ Jan 7, 2005 -> 12:47 AM) Today I can stand up again and say "i'm proud to be a Sox Fan." Now I don't pray to beat these teams, I know we can contend with the Yankees, Twins or the Red Sox anyday. Bring em on. I think he's got an A- for his off-season rating right now. We are no doubt going to be one of the most dangerous teams in the AL this year. I'm looking at the Central, and beyond, IF we get Iguchi, just because I don't see very many holes anymore. "Tonight, AJP takes on the team where he started playing, and the Sox look to finish off the Twins...its the White Sox and the Twins...Nextt...BOOM." -Dave Wills quote Hold on to yourself. We cannot contend with the yankees or redosx nor are we even close. We will contend for the division. Take it easy lightning.
  14. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jan 7, 2005 -> 12:31 AM) Next question is who gest dumped from the 40. I'm going with Paulino Reynoso. I will go with that considering he will probably never play for us....ever.
  15. QUOTE(aboz56 @ Jan 7, 2005 -> 12:29 AM) Don't worry, I've still got a few things planned, mainly centered around Jeremy Reed. In regards to this signing, I would like to see Davis traded now so that Burke can be kept on the roster to catch Buehrle. Won't happen, I actually think they like Davis expecially as a defensive replacement. he does have a decent arm. he is not going anywhere. Only possible saving grace for Burke is he can relieve at third base. Its a long shot, I think burke gets sent back down.
  16. QUOTE(JimH @ Jan 6, 2005 -> 11:21 PM) How were you to know Pierzynski would become available? For that matter the Sox themselves wouldn't have known. Things change all the time. What's set in stone today changes tomorrow. Keep posting what you hear, Steff. Whoever wants to Monday morning QB, so what. It's a lot easier to Monday morning QB than do a service to other Sox fans by sharing some info. Are you nuts, pick up your damn phone. What the F
  17. QUOTE(Steff @ Jan 6, 2005 -> 10:21 PM) You are kidding me, right..? But in case you aren't.. I repeated what I was told. I don't work for the Sox and don't claim to know anything more than I am told. Apparently.. sharing that info - when it turs out to be incorrect - warrants a slap in the face. So be it. Not another peep of information will be posted from these fingers. Steff, don't even respond.
  18. as I mentioned before there is something about this guy that nobody likes. its also why we only signed him for one year.
  19. QUOTE(sircaffey @ Jan 6, 2005 -> 09:48 PM) Somwhere poor Ben Davis is cursing, and little Jamie Burke is crying... who cares
  20. asa many of us have said, we will get both, I also think we will get another utility infielder. We need one.Badly. as I have stated before KW is very quietly putting together a solid team and staying within budget.
  21. QUOTE(Steff @ Jan 6, 2005 -> 09:34 PM) Stupid dumbass Kenny.. what the hell was he thinking negotiating... :rolly For all those who wanted to just give him more money this is what negotiation does. he is doing the same with Ignuchi or whatever the hell his name is.
  22. Espn Reporting the same thing- One year 2.25. Good job Kenny. Guess Timo didn't stop us from signing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Also he came at our price not his.
  23. I wish people will relax. To be clear and not implement myself. I find it much easier to type "Jap" than try to spell this guys name. Take no offense, and if you do, please relax. There are many more things for you guys to contemplate in life. Wait till you get older.
  24. folks for the 100th time, Ozzie likes Timo. Ozzie wanted Timo last year. ozzie gets timo. Just god damn live with it.
