  1. What speculation about Stone? I have seen nothing in the papers recently. i remember when he first left the cubs months ago that he flatly denied he would take DJ's job. Please enlighten me on this speculation. Is he even going to Soxfest? has he been invited?
  2. QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Jan 7, 2005 -> 11:41 PM) I'm glad to hear he's been invited to ST. That tells me if he doesn't make it as the 25th man he'll opt to go to Charlotte as the 26th man. With the rash of injuries the CWS has encountered in past years he'd have a good chance of being called up. I still believe the CWS will go start the season w 12 pitchers. There are too many question marks w 3-5 as to how long they can go & a bullpen that seems tailor made for L & R specialists. Who's been invited to spring training? I am just offering my opinion that he won't get picked up therefore the sox will invite him back. That's all
  3. QUOTE(JimH @ Jan 7, 2005 -> 11:27 PM) One guy would be Iguchi, and the other you said Dransfeldt. Please, Mr. Renaissance Man. I agree on Burke, they will try to get him through waivers, which he cleared last year mid summer or around then. My role is to point out when you steal my ideas and claim them as your own. We agree they will find a way to get Iguchi, but if it's not done by SoxFest I say they will pass. This Alex Cora being connected to Scott Boras throws a monkey wrench in things, otherwise I'd bet they'd have it done already. Iguchi and Cora, Harris bye bye. You are way too serious about these things, I'm serious. I can't help having a little fun with you, you are so quick to annoyance, it's a riot. (peeks around corner, looking for juggernaut). The fact is, they need to deepen the bench, big time. You need a guy who can very capably play SS, you don't go for a pennant with Wilson Valdez if Uribe gets hurt or trips on some Chicken McNuggets. As I've stated to you, I wouldn't be surprised with a trade to bring in an infielder. But how can you remember anything I say when you're always yapping? Are you a chick or what? We have had so many conversations you don't know what your talking about. We both agree they will get two more infielders. if they sign Iguchi they will still try to bring someone in or use dransfedt or some other piece of s*** minor league player we have stacked up on. If they don't they could try for cora and another player not in our system. Is Rich Aurilla still available? I know we hate this idea, but he plays ss and third. Any more names to throw out?
  4. QUOTE(JimH @ Jan 7, 2005 -> 11:19 PM) By the way ... At 3:20 update, Offman (Score) talked about the Iguchi thing. He claims no other team is seriously interested in Iguchi. As quickman said, the ball is in the Sox court. Either Iguchi wants to play in the U.S. or not. There are lots of ways to get creative with the contract ... incentives, etc. Not that I totally believe Offman but this is negotiating, they are still talking. Yep and I still think we will get him.
  5. QUOTE(JimH @ Jan 7, 2005 -> 11:12 PM) You are f'ing brilliant, where do you get these ideas from? The Sox will bring in TWO infielders, do you mean one won't be Kelly Dransfeldt? Mild surprise about Burke, but all this means is the Sox have somebody(s) on the line. Will you please stop this charade your having. I have been clear two ore guys. Plus I still think burke will be invited back, because nobody will pick him up. What is the matter with you? Why must you continue to bait me like you do. Saw wills at tweeter today. Spent some time telling him he was full of s***. I am getting ready to upgrade a few things. Too bad I can't use him, would be a nice sale for him.
  6. QUOTE(Texsox @ Jan 7, 2005 -> 10:47 PM) I thought he was the backup 3rd base option. Who would it be now? Well i now further stress the Sox will pick up two more playrs as I contended in other threads. Uribe will slide over to third if needed. this is why I truly think the sox will pick up two more infielders.
  7. QUOTE(Jeckle2000 @ Jan 7, 2005 -> 10:35 PM) I'm scratching my head here. Doesn't Ozzie like having 3 catchers on the roster? Not only that he can play CIF and COF too. I hope no one claims him because he would for sure make the team in spring training. I just don't get this. Couldn't we have just moved a minor leaguer who had options off the roster? This ia a good gamble that will probably pay off for the sox. he probably will not get picked up, and be invited back to the sox. i would rather risk losing a 33 year journeyman catcher than a 22 year old prospect.
  8. I hear nothing about the whtesox. these guys are just rambling nut balls.
  9. i that is the case, then forget him. If they can get him for the price they want great, otherwise go back and play the rest of your life in triple A japan. The Sox are in the drivers seat not Iguchi.
  10. QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Jan 7, 2005 -> 06:08 PM) I edited my post to include something related to the topic. It's not hard to do. You're not going to get thrown off the board. I've got nothing against 2 peers sparing in a thread. All I ask is that you include something in your post that is topic related. To make it honest. I personally think it's a bad move by Iguchi's agent to refer to Kaz as a measure of what Iggy's worth. But if that's the player he wants to compare his agent with then he should consider this: Kaz was ranked 69th in the NL in 2004 w a 4.58 RPG. Womack was ranked 61st in the NL in 2004 w a 5.01 RPG. Womack signed a 4M/2yr deal w the NYY this off-season. oK I agree, and a good response deserves another. Thanks for pointing out your issue. I will try to personally keep things related. I appreciate this response as oppossed to the other.
  11. Hey juggernut next time you have an issue with me, use email to contact me and complain, or simply says, gents please stay on the subject. It creates a little more respect. I believe that would indeed be the proper approach to handling this type of situation.
  12. QUOTE(JimH @ Jan 7, 2005 -> 06:03 PM) I agree. Report that, too. BTW, TQ, it's "Iguchi", not "Ignuchi" (sorry if the last line is only borderline about talent acquisition) Whatever I have zero understanding of the japanese spellings. by the way did I tell you we will still get him. Iguchi right?
  13. QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Jan 7, 2005 -> 05:54 PM) I'm getting sick & tired of seeing this baby bulls*** pop up in talent acquistion threads. You've been reported. If you are going to spar with one another then you damn well better include something in your post RELATED to the thread TOPIC! Well thank you very much for staying on the topic. I appreciate the email as well. i am looking forward to getting thrown off the board for my inside comments to Jim on an update which I provided. Furthermore, it happens all the time on the board. People change subjects constantly moving in and out of the thread. Quite frankly I do not care if you like it or not. Don't post to it, don't read my comments, in fact stay completely away from my comments. To stay on the subject of whitesox baseball. I still think we will get ignuchi. Report that.
  14. QUOTE(JimH @ Jan 7, 2005 -> 05:48 PM) Good thing I don't copy your writing, that's all I can say. What's next, dinner at the Ded Roor? Signed up for stadium club, stuck it under my partners name. its done, what a rip off.
  15. QUOTE(JimH @ Jan 7, 2005 -> 05:42 PM) I was referring specifically to the Levine comment, I have no interest in going back through anyone's posts, I have you on ignore as you recall. You are an expert speller ... "plagiarize". Don't I wish I were an expert copywriter, I'd be a multi millionaire. Unfortunately, still perfecting the skill. How long was the workout ... 8 minutes? Or did you see a Hot Mom, get scared, and run? Please, The workout went great thanks for asking, how is the copying, I mean Cheating, I mean copywriting, spellchecking?
  16. QUOTE(JimH @ Jan 7, 2005 -> 05:38 PM) Is this not a red flag? I say yes. Also, why don't the Sox have a full time guy in the Pacific Rim? My understanding is they have Man Soo Lee do a little de facto scouting by relying on some contacts he has. That's still second hand info. If you're looking to add talent from the Far East, put a full time scout over there for chrissakes. If they have one and I missed it, my apologies. because they are the 500 whitesox and don't want to pay for people. that's why.
  17. QUOTE(JimH @ Jan 7, 2005 -> 05:35 PM) Well don't keep it in the dark then, step out and tell us what you believe. Do you believe Levine or do you have another theory? My theory is, they're negotiating. Whenever there is this much buzz and so many conflicting numbers, it means heavy negotiations, as well as various structured proposals being bandied around. See my comment to Chisox, also view my other 50 comments yesterday. I will stick to what I said. You are the other hand are an expert copywriter and plagerizer.
  18. QUOTE(chisox2334 @ Jan 7, 2005 -> 05:33 PM) I say look for another 2b. I told ya it either be putting money to aj or putting more money for iguchi. We got aj so everyone should be happy I do not believe it was one or the other. if we didn't get Aj that does not mean we would give 5 million for a 2b whom the whitesox have never seen in person or have scouted. Levine said all they have seen of him is what is on tape. They never scouted him. I think this guy will have a problem getting what he wants. I still think we will get him
  19. QUOTE(JimH @ Jan 7, 2005 -> 05:29 PM) No, by all accounts we are no higher than $2M per year. Levine is saying the Sox might go up to $3M per year on a two year deal, total value $6M. Sox will not give Iguchi a 3 year guaranteed contract. They're still negotiating and until they're not, there is reason to believe this could happen. AM i having a problem being clear?
  20. QUOTE(JimH @ Jan 7, 2005 -> 05:22 PM) But you think Levine is a shmuck, why would you believe him and not the papers? i didn't say I beleived him, I am just reporting what he said. Get with the program.
  21. Ok Bruce Levine is on right now. The update on Ignuchi is this: 1) The numbers in the papers are wrong. He started out wanting 3 years 21 million. then backed down to 3 years 15 million. thats where it is now. The sox want him only for 2 years and offered him 2 years 4 million. Levine said they are willing to negotiate and said the Sox will probably go as high as 3 million per but no third year.
  22. QUOTE(beck72 @ Jan 7, 2005 -> 01:42 PM) I think its the sox public negotiating stance. They're forcing Iguchi to accept their offer, come down a little, or they'll move on [to Alex Cora prob]. Iguchi should make a move or he'll be in Japan for another yr, as I don't think another team is willing to take the risk on him the Sox are over 2 yrs. He'll sign if he's smart beck I agree with you on this. I think its negotiating again. We all remember that he said we were not going to get AJ. In addition, if ignuchi decides to stay in Japan then we will turn to Cora or cairo. I still think there is a chance. Quite frankly, KW by being unpredictable is becoming quite predictable.
  23. QUOTE(JimH @ Jan 7, 2005 -> 02:14 AM) Didn't I just tell you this afternoon, I have you on ignore ... the family will be at the door tommorrow. We can talk about things then. by that time we will have a new second baseman.
  24. QUOTE(JimH @ Jan 7, 2005 -> 02:08 AM) Yeah, I tried to delete two of mine and got an error message. Maybe it's better that way Your last two sentences are still putting your own value judgements on the two players. And that's fine, there's nothing wrong with that. My point is not what I think or what we think about players, it's watching what the White Sox are doing and trying to draw conclusions. You know the history. - Harris says he's tentative on the basepaths. - Guillen does the eye roll at Harris' end of season comments. - Guillen showed little faith in Harris to begin with. - Guillen states he will speak up more because now, no one can tell him what guys can and can't do. - Acquisitions have been made which clearly fit Guillen's philosophy. - The White Sox postgame guy who rarely if ever rips on a player makes disparaging remarks about Harris. - Most importantly, the White Sox are courting at least one other 2B if not two. And one of the guys has zero MLB experience, from Japan. All of the above clearly tell me they have no faith in Harris. Doesn't make them right, or wrong. But those are all pretty clear signals to me. That's why I think Iguchi is Target A. If they sign him, they will bring in a high level utility guy, like Cairo or maybe a trade. If they don't sign him, I think it's Alex Cora and a utility guy and Harris is out. Two more moves in my opinion. Or should I say two additions, one subtraction. Again, this is just what I think they'll do. If it happens, we can analyze then.l isn't that what I said? We are in agreement. Good.
  25. QUOTE(qwerty @ Jan 7, 2005 -> 02:04 AM) Do we really know what we are gonna get from cora? His numbers jump up and down so much year to year. Qwerty, I think they are loking for somebody that is fundementally sound in many aspects of the game. Somebody that will do what OZzie and the coaches ask. Soembody that plays hard nosed ball, keeps others involved, always keeps trying, always plays the game hard.
