If people here believe nightengale is an earpiece for JR, then Brantley is not signing here , but I believe that they are working on the deal with Hendrix. I still think a starter will be added for just the simple reason the whitesox saw just last year how pitchers can go down or get covid and they had to use people that were not ready. If the window is now as Hahn says it is there has to be another pitcher ( veteran ) added as a back up. You need to go 7 deep in case something happens. This would mean kopech can start in the minors for a couple of months as he needs too since he hasn’t pitched shit in two years, cease and another veteran can be 4/5 and Lopez is the long man in your pen in case a bad game comes up here and there . Lopez can always step in if needed and kopech after a few months can come up and pitch.

In larussa’s years the closer is one position he always valued. If he has a say like everyone here thinks, a closer will be a move the Sox make.

Been happening since biblical times.

Sox acquire Lance Lynn for Dane Dunning and Avery Weems
quickman replied to KrankinSox's topic in Pale Hose Talk
So listening to the score this morning david haugh said Richard Sherman reported that the whitesox are one of few teams willing to spend this offseason For what it’s worth -
Why if the cubs eat the contract I would take him and for a 3/4 starter who had arm trouble even better .
-
Ok man understand and if darvish is part of it I get the angst I was only commenting on heyward for dunning ? Long time southsider hope you are well.
-
I am only commenting on what the other guy said and darvish was no part of it .
-
Again the original post does not have darvish in this . It’s dunning for heyward. This I stupid the guy abandon the thread and nobody even noticed
-
Here is the original post from a guy or person that hasn’t commented since where the hell is darvish name in this?
-
Again perplexed the original poster never had darvish in the trade where did that come from ?
-
Well very small sample but happy to trade him . Can striver be dunning in two years ? Don’t know. It’s a crap shoot . Dunning was hurt and wasn’t dunning until this year. Let’s see quite frankly I would be surprised if it happens.
-
Well at least joc. Depends what the cubs eat. Honestly it really does. They are desperate to rebuild and start over . Window for them is gone. Let’s see what plays out out it’s a rumor for now
-
Has dunning suddenly become a number 1 is he better than what we have coming up with prospects ? Keep perspective let’s not make dunning the next giolito.
-
Depends what the cubs eat on the contract. Anyway it’s a rumor from no sources .
-
Not so much dunning is a mid rotation guy unproven and we are stacked with young arms . If we ha g on to everyone we have no leverage. I would rather buy joc and keep my pitchers but it depends on what the cubs will eat
-
Really, where did the rumor guy say darvish ?
-
For just heyward ? Seriously you would Think heyward is worth all that?
-
Why would it need to be more than dunning? Cubs shed some payroll Sox get a right fielder who can defend and cubs get a cheap pitcher who can be middle rotation.
-
Well I am sure they can probably do that for 20 million or I would get a right fielder.
-
Play him where ?
-
Ok why Bryant ? With boras as an agent why bring him in and to play what rf? No maybe it’s a three way trade with Bryant going to Texas. Or maybe it’s about darvish, will wait a bit but Bryant makes little sense at 20 million with one year left . Heyward has way too much left on the contract and is getting old. Sorry I am rambling but makes little sense .
-
Not trading him there is no reason to do so.
-
It’s obvious that JR wants his buddy, it’s his team and JR is getting old ands wants one more title before he passes. So he is reaching to his friend who is a hall of fame manager, used stats big time, speaks Spanish and a guy he regrets every firing. This is just about JR doing what he wants cause it’s his last hurrah. I also think there is little window room for error so they just might spend to make this all happen. Hope it plays out soon.

Cease stop using the curve. Use the curve.

Great post and dead on. I wasn’t a fan about going back words but larussa was a never a run of the mill manager he is a hall of fame manager like a bobby Cox. Something else to consider larussa speaks fluent Spanish and back in that day he was all about stats and match ups. We could do a lot worse. I still think larussa will be hired in the same capacity as he is now.
