Sorry for the late reply I suppose I was alluding to colome and they also picked up Ian Hamilton. I realize the later needs to prove things but he does have chance to be effective. My main point is they did things pretty quietly and they are still the team to beat.

Giolito Working on a New Pitch..."The Downer"
quickman replied to Ducksnort's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Sounds like a Bruce Sutter split fingered fastball -
Who cares if they want to keep him they will keep him . Pretty simple, I do think they intend to keep lynn he is older and won’t command anything like Giolito. Sox need to decide. Up to them but we have him for a couple more years and if we win then great. Job done .

Jonathan Lucroy signs minor league deal with White Sox
quickman replied to Sleepy Harold's topic in Pale Hose Talk
The Collins love on this site is incredible. The guy is not exactly a front line player. He is not great defensively and what we’re his stats in the minors? He is not that great. Neither is lecroy but he probably knows how to handle pitchers and is a smart catcher. Good depth for sure , nice sign. That’s it no all star no starter just good damn depth. -
I think he starts in triple A and throws down there until mid May. Sox will call him up and stick him in the pen for long relief and between those two options for the year he will throw some innings . I also think if Rodon starts out well in spring training he gets the nod over kopech and kopech starts in triple A as well and comes up when Rodon or any other pitcher gets hurt or starts failing. Also think doubleheader’s great way to call someone up this year and get a game in. It will work out we have some good young arms.

Twins very quietly get better defensively, keep Cruz and solidify the bullpen. I think they are outspending the whitesox right now and will be the team to beat in the division.

Mickey Callaway accused of sexual harassment
quickman replied to caulfield12's topic in The Diamond Club
We should just keep a thread open for all these really shitty men who can’t act civilized around a woman. This guy should be out of a job within the next two days like the dude in New York. -
Thank you and I am happy the Sox are his destination. Must admit this is one area the Sox do invest and seemingly do things right.
-
Great writeup just sad to see a list of players that 8 out of ten never make it up. What is the latest on colas by the way? Cant see him actually waiting till next year unless the Sox promise him like 3 million to wait.

Right sometimes I think phil Rogers is in some time machine land of oz. He really is so disengaged from the game it’s comical.
-
Twins have resumed talks with Cruz. So this is playing out like stone said. Hector is full of crap, he stepped out and he got his ass bit.
-
It all depends on who they sign next. If it’s another starter type then Rodon and the next guy fight it out with Lopez. Loser to the bullpen for awhile at least . Which quite frankly is the way that it should be for these project , injury pitchers who need to prove themselves . They will be on year year deals prove or hit the pen. Simple really .
-
He is steadfast and he is truly risking his rep here .
-
Problem is not Rodons velocity it’s he couldn’t the side of wall . This is garbage but it’s Sox garbage .

Hi back to them they were all good picks because we sucked every year, literally sucked and they were all top picks. Easy to get the best players when your picking in the top 5. Not fighting with you or anyone but we are a very top heavy org then then we have nothing. We should have had more while we rebuilt, way more . Anyway we don’t have enough pieces.
-
Here is what I am for , let’s offer some scouts from Tampa, the cardinals, maybe even the twins a million dollars more than they are making and bring them over here so we can scout better , draft better pieces so in the future we can have an org that can trade pieces to get pieces. This thread should be dead before it’s gets Cruz like, it’s not happening .

All good points and I am not trying to be an old Dad, I think the Sox didn’t spend and built up there assets of young players through trade and draft. They have some prime players through that build with more on the way. I guess as a life long Sox fan, old as I may be, and a one time season ticket holder for a decade, I see reinsdorf as the same as he has always been. Nothing has changed except they probably have had one of the best minor league talent and talent on “ the come” than I have ever seen in my history. That of course was do to them tearing things down. Maybe it’s the young that believed he would be different. I would say this if there was not a pandemic with no fans last year and no fans this year do you think the Sox would have spent more? I would say yes but I would also say everyone else would spend more as well. I believe in our talent coming up, it’s actually worked so far with Moncada Robert, eloy and so on. Agree there are question marks but they are better than last year at this time. Got your point though , but your owner is here to stay and this will be passed down to his kids with the same ideas past down. The cubs said the exact thing there is plenty of money and now the owner is cheaper than JR. most clubs are not spending or even improving. In the end it’s purely a business except to us fans. Nobody goes into business to lose money. Every business has a budget of some sort. Wish it was different, of all the teams with maybe the same model it’s Toronto that we wanted to be this year. The Mets have an owner who will just spend , Padres of course did a nice job, Toronto was basically us with great drafts and good young players. They truly know their window. The Sox are a tick behind them. Again wish it was different but we have been the same and I have been watching since 1968.

Well everyone believes what they want to believe, not here to convince people I am just like everyone else. In my older age I have become more optimistic and through this pandemic I learned to enjoy little things more. That stated, Hendricks is an upgrade and we got the best one in the bunch. Eaton is an upgrade I mean anyone could have been an upgrade but he is an upgrade , lynn as you mentioned is a major upgrade and usually the Sox make offers during spring training to roster pitchers. I can’t imagine the Sox not checking in with the agent around trade time on what his asking price might be and getting prepared for that. The key is not these additions which I think were nice additions, but it’s the progress of our younger players and the progress of guys like kopech , crochet , Lopez. It’s a new coaching staff and the knowledge they have a team that can win. I completely agree with the person who said the depth is still suspect, but we do have a back up waiting if Abreu goes down for two weeks, when anyone goes down clubs need to tread water until that player comes back. Do we have a enough...probably not but there is always room to get more later. The Sox will look for depth players now, backups or compete players. I am still bullish on a really great season.

Mets pitching is stacked for sure.
-
Well none of this will happen I don’t understand why everyone plays GM instead of staying in reality. No baur , no Cruz, maybe a number 5 pitcher or a project pitcher. That’s it. Enjoy the kids. My opinion of course .
-
I very much agree. A fourth or fifth starter for some early innings and if that person goes down in June then we bring up kopech or crochet. I think that will and should be the last piece. If they want mazzara for 2 million to compete that’s fine otherwise we are done. Not because I want to be done but because Jerry is done and the payroll is done.. for now
-
Well Molina wouldn’t give anyone that big of a concern but the rest definitely would. Sox need another pitcher and call it a day.
-
JR’s history has never been to pay starting pitchers (long term) he thinks they are a huge risk for injury and quite frankly many of them are, he doesn’t mind paying for everyday players and he loves homeruns. Maybe he is taking the angle of hitting over pitching and running with that. Even his young pitchers like kopech and crochet have gotten hurt. One year deals to an everyday player are right in his sweet spot. Hopefully it happens but we still need pitching depth even if they are veteran projects coming off injury. Hope it gets done.

I think hector is wrong again
-
Hope it all goes well and I am wrong truly I do. Hope we don’t trade for burnes and buy and keep our assets. We will see . I will be happy if that comes true , but this org is either changing nutty or it’s the same. 50/50.
