  1. Brenly is in the last year of his contract and will most likely manage again. Stone will go back to the cubs. The sox just want options if Brenly can't find anything.
  2. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 1, 2008 -> 12:12 PM) He broke down even earlier last season, but if you look at his minor league inning totals you can see that he hasn't even come close to throwing the amount of innings that it takes to pitch in a complete major league season and the White Sox need to be aware and careful because if you push him too far past his prior year inning totals you take a major chance at ruining a promising arm (and this is statistically proven). I am almost positive that if he was really healthy he would tell ozzie and ozzie would know for sure before anyone. After the tampa series ozzie went back home and Garcia was at his house for dinner. i would certianly expect this to come up. The sox will get a shot but only if ozzie has the inside scoop.
  3. well its four hours back home as well, and the cubs in town. I am just saying.
  4. QUOTE (DABearSoX @ Jun 20, 2008 -> 10:40 PM) Did they ever show a replay of the swing??? I don't think WGN ever showed it and I was pissed... yes its in the same video as the link above just go to the ninth inning and they (WGN )showed the replay. The cub announcers just said you be the judge. He clearly clealy did not go. I was sitting in the third row of the CBOE seats to the left of the cub dugout. People could see the swing from there and the UMP was directly in front of us. He heard it from the sox fans pretty damn good and the cub fans couldn't beleive the crap call either. On a separate note, Cox was great with teh fans down there. Excellent interaction with people.
  5. actually I was more upset with the punchout of AJ's check swing in the ninth. not even close.
  6. I have a very good business friend of mine who is a partial owner of the seattle mariners. He recently retired from Microsoft and is now the president of the Gates foundation. That said, I have been informed on several occasions that ichiro is a lifer in seattle. He will not be traded nor does he want to be traded. He has roots and extended family in seattle. Now that said things may change, but from my information ichiro stays in seattle.
  7. QUOTE (scenario @ Jun 19, 2008 -> 11:04 AM) Just a quick calculation and thought... If the Sox continue to win at their current rate (.563), they will finish the season with 91 wins. For the Tribe to reach 91 wins, they will have to win 58 out of their remaining 90 games (.644 winning percentage). For the Tigers to reach 91 wins, they will have to win 57 out of their remaining 90 games (.633 winning percentage). And for the Twins to reach 91 wins, they will have to win 55 out of their remaining 90 games (.611 winning percentage). Their winning percentages over their first 72 games: Tribe - .458 Tigers - .472 Twins - .500 (I didn't include the Royals above for a fairly obvious reason. They suck. They would have to win 61 out of their remaining 90 games... a .677 winning percentage. They had a .417 winning percentage in their first 72 games.) What was the tigers and the indians winning percentage the last two seasons?
  8. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 19, 2008 -> 06:15 AM) 40-31 +4.5 games do you receive my Pm?
  9. QUOTE (29andPoplar @ Jun 17, 2008 -> 01:13 PM) Owens started in CF for Charlotte today and got yanked after one at bat. Supposedly the groin again. Yup, I think Williams is working on something. It would be highly uncharacteristic if he wasn't. He keeps preaching patience but he's saying it through clenched teeth. lets only hope, as for owens his injuries may have cost him his career. he has had several opps this year, and bad luck is following him around like pigpen from peanuts. Its not meant to be. Kenny needs to infuse some stuff right away.
  10. QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ Jun 17, 2008 -> 12:56 PM) Of the four Wise, Uribe, Ramirez and IANderson I bet Anderson gets the least at-bats ofthe four while Konerko is out. Unless KW trades Uribe he will play over Anderson as will Ramirez. well that would be a mistake. Anderson should get the most at bats and ramirez should play 2nd. The only bat I want Uribe to swing is a fungo bat. As for wise, he should be a pinch runner and defensive replacement, thats it. With the national league parks coming up we will need a late inning double switch.
  11. QUOTE (29andPoplar @ Jun 17, 2008 -> 12:36 PM) I wonder if after this is over they'll designate Wise for assignment again. Can you do that twice in one year? I think they can but who knows how this will go. Also, it is fair to say this is an indication of how the White Sox are feeling about Jerry Owens. One mans misfortune is another mans opportunity. This looks like Brian Anderson's opportunity and yes, that at bat on Friday was really bad. You could tell when he stepped out of the box he's going "oh no ... oh no ... what now?" By the way you are johnny-on-the-spot with the news lately. i thought owens got hurt yesterday, that maybe why wise got the call. You never know. The sox a certainly a differetn sort of team. If I were 4 games up in mid june with a chance agian for the playoffs, man I would really try to get something done. hopefully they are working on something, if not for the injury but for a shot of new blood.
  12. QUOTE (lostfan @ Jun 17, 2008 -> 12:25 PM) Not necessarily. 15 days is the minimum, could be longer yes thank you
  13. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 17, 2008 -> 01:22 PM) Let's hope Ozzie goes with Anderson in CF and Ramirez at 2B. lets hope but quite frankly that wouldn't scare me as a pitcher. On friday Anderson absolutely crapped on himself with the bases loaded. Lets hope we don't see those types of at bats again.
  14. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jun 17, 2008 -> 01:21 PM) Sort of uninspired, but, might be the best fit I suppose. Owens got hurt today, Fields is DL, Cook is probably not ready, and Getz is not really a CF. All told, I think I would still rather have seen Getz or Cook. Actually I would love to see a trade of some sort or bring in lofton. Not to go down this path again repeatedly, but we need some solid help and some new blood. You never know paulie could be out even longer. paulie is not a quick healer. With no konerko and no thome in the lineup against the cubs it may make for a long weekend. not that they were great but they did put some fear in pitchers. Anderson and wise and Uribe do not.
  15. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 17, 2008 -> 01:19 PM) Or at least 13, because he didn't play Sunday, and we were off on Monday. you are correct sir
  16. QUOTE (almagest @ Jun 17, 2008 -> 01:16 PM) How long is Konerko on the DL for? that would be 15 days
  17. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jun 17, 2008 -> 09:06 AM) The personal comments stop now, or we close the thread. Thank you for your support. North side, I can certainly appreciate your comment, I have looked at my posts in this thread and i do not feel I have said anything wrong. Although I do not agree with VAFAN and thought he was the person who keeps bringing up the same stuff, I did not call him any derrogatory names, at least I don't think so. I realize that there are people who do not like what I post, and that is there right. That said, I jsut dissagreed with VAFAN. I don't necessarily feel that I have targeted him or anyone else in the past.
  18. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jun 16, 2008 -> 02:11 PM) Something needs to happen, and he can play a position that will be vacated with Swish playing 1B Rock I really hope we find someone outside the org. lets only hope.
  19. QUOTE (29andPoplar @ Jun 17, 2008 -> 08:09 AM) I agree with you on Konerko but disagree on Ozuna. Also, breaking news from the minor league section, I guess Fields was put on the DL again, which is a shame. But regardless, he won't be called up. Well, it is too bad he is on the DL but at least we won't have to hear his name for awhile.
  20. QUOTE (29andPoplar @ Jun 17, 2008 -> 08:08 AM) There seems to be a pack mentality on this board. Watch your back my friend. what does that mean? its a board, I am sure VAFAN is old enough to take care of himself, he doesn't need a lacky.
  21. QUOTE (kyyle23 @ Jun 17, 2008 -> 07:58 AM) Why do you keep antagonizing the subject? Your statement has been made, we all know you disagree with the premise. Now back off and let it be. first don't tell me what to do, second that was my way of backing off. it clearly seemed like he was making his point stronger. I simply said whatever. Why do you care? Why does this bother you?
  22. QUOTE (ptatc @ Jun 16, 2008 -> 01:14 PM) Usually, significant rib muscle strains keep hitters out for longer than 15 days. it just depends on the severity. It's impossible to swing a bat without pain with this injury. The muscles are very short, thick and multidirectional all factors contibuting to the length of time it takes for it to heal. not to mention he is like a 32 year old going on 45.
  23. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 16, 2008 -> 10:05 AM) I agree, I hate the series more than anyone. If someone would tell me the Sox win 2 out of 6, I'd say fine and not watch the games at all. I really am not looking forward to all the offspeed pitches we miss against Dempster. Also, it will be interesting if Danks can last 5 innings with the patient Cubs offense. Lilly will throw the junk up there and have us spinning like tops. Furthermore Konerko willnot e there and he usually hits well against the cubs.Thome will be out, not that these guys are great, but we are not playing with a full deck. The thought of uribe in the lineup is horrible.
