  1. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 10, 2008 -> 08:58 PM) Exactly....anyways, I'm watching the Rangers game right now, and their offense scares the s*** out of me. they have hit all year. I am very worried our pitchers will get the crap kicked out of them. on the same note, our bats will do well against them. Still fathom, I really can't stand watching Konerko bat, its painful. We need to tread water here this last weekend. We need some breaks with Minni and detriot splitting and us grabbing at least a game from texas. If we get two we will be in nice shape.
  2. QUOTE (quickman @ Jul 10, 2008 -> 08:55 PM) by the way how was that not an error on konerko? secondly what bat? Konerko lost his bat in spring training.
  3. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 10, 2008 -> 08:52 PM) It's real simple....PK was still in during the 8th because he was up 2nd in the 9th inning. Ozzie made the decision that his at bat in possibly a tie game was more important that fielding your best defensive team. Ozzie was very good the first two games of this series with these types of decisions, so it's not a big mistake. by the way how was that not an error on konerko?
  4. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 10, 2008 -> 08:49 PM) Linebrink had the night off, as they said he's fatigued. Fatigued must be the new term for shaky confidence. he has been pitching alot. I am sure he was tired. I don't know maybe I am watching a different game. buerhle was fine, if konerko doesn't mess up he gets to the ninth. pretty simple.
  5. QUOTE (joesaiditstrue @ Jul 10, 2008 -> 08:46 PM) probably because this team doesn't win games 1-0, we haven't done it once all year long. add to the fact that the royals hit the ball hard and scored a lot of runs the last few games, it was only a matter of time they were going to put some runs on the board i wanted buehrle pulled out in the 7th inning for scott > dotel, i feel ozzie left him in for an inning too long actaully buerhle was fine, the royals at the time of the konerko gaff had 5 hits. They didn't hit him hard at all. It was after the gaff that the royals hit the ball. Buerhle was cruising, and relies on double play balls to get him out of jams. He had the double play ball.
  6. QUOTE (CWSOX45 @ Jul 10, 2008 -> 08:45 PM) As I stated in my original post. Konerko f*cked up that play, but he's not solely responsible. That's why in my mind he can't be single handedly blamed for this loss. Was he the main contribution to the loss? Yes. Was he the only contributor? No. That's my stance. well I would say that if he caught the ball the run doesn't score. Lets say that is true. we lead 1-0 in the ninth. How is he not responsible?
  7. QUOTE (CWSOX45 @ Jul 10, 2008 -> 08:40 PM) No kidding. Who wouldn't, but he didn't. That's baseball. yes its baseball but that doesn't mean konerko is not to blame. I think that is the point of the bashing.
  8. QUOTE (CWSOX45 @ Jul 10, 2008 -> 08:36 PM) I hate this board sometimes. You guys do realize that Konerko isn't solely responsible for the loss in this game right? The offense scored 1 run, and the bullpen didn't limit the damage, and Alexi also had his head up his ass on the relay. Paulie did f*ck up bad, but to blame this loss solely on his shoulders is ridiculous. We still won 2 out of 3.....we were in my opinion fortunate enough to do that. i believe that if Paulie catches that ball a run would not have scored that inning. That is what I believe. Now that doesn't mean they would not have choked in the ninth but I will take my chances. He is paid well, and it was an easy catch.
  9. QUOTE (winninguglyin83 @ Jul 10, 2008 -> 08:35 PM) we over PK 2 1/2 more years for about $32 more million. KW can't be too happy about this. your right they will do everything they can to move him this offseason, even if it means getting little in return. We actaully just need him to hit like thome for awhile and demonstrate some power. Even if he hits 215 some teams will take a flier on a guy if he can hit for power. Right now he is doing nothing.
  10. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 10, 2008 -> 08:32 PM) PK continues to swing like he's trying to figure things out at the plate. He should have stayed a few days longer in the minors, as he's worthless right now. fathom he was swinging like this before he went on the DL, he changed his swing this year, and it sucks. He is a compelte and utter mess, If this guy comes out of spring training slumping its a 4 month ordeal. This team plays differently when he is out of the lineup. He is slowing them down. did I mention I hate him?
  11. QUOTE (Brian @ Jul 10, 2008 -> 08:28 PM) Millwood on Sat but two hacks for Texas the other two games, which means they'll shut us down. PH for Kong. I think Millwoods a bit dinged up so we could have a chance, I am worried about our pitching, texas can hit the ball.
  12. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jul 10, 2008 -> 08:21 PM) The only reason I give him the benefit of the doubt is because he has a history of having terrible halves and great halves. I give him 2-3 weeks into the 2nd half before I make any big decisions. Well Konerko's swing has been horrible all year, he has no power left. He hits it off the end of the bat or he lifts it. He is a mess. Your paying the guy 11million to be a singles hitter, hitting 215. Doesn't register. Now if he cannot field as well, he is a useless old man.
  13. QUOTE (winninguglyin83 @ Jul 10, 2008 -> 08:21 PM) Paulie will beat himself up more than anybody on the team. then he'll try too hard the next three days and probably make it worse. Not hitting, not fielding, not too pleasant to be around would be my guess. Only good news is he's killed us all season and we've survived his horribleness. too bad he cannot pick up a bat and beat himself.
  14. Paulie is really useless and has been all year, there is really no benefit both offensively or defensively that he should be playing. he has lost the edge and will not gain it back this year. Now the sox must recognize this and bench the asswipe
  15. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jul 9, 2008 -> 08:58 PM) 5 runs on 4 hits, nice. Once again, I hope KW has been speaking to other teams about their arms. I think a Bedard, Burnett, or such should be on his list in case. Javy and Jose have both looked terrible lately, and Danks and Floyd CANNOT be expected to carry this staff. completely agree, although we will not get any of those guys. Think second tier, or long relief. we do not have the goods to get Bedard or Burnett, plus Burnett has 15 teams on his no trade list, want to bet the sox are on it?!
  16. QUOTE (Jimbo's Drinker @ Jul 9, 2008 -> 08:56 PM) Who the hell would want his useless ass anymore. nobody but that doesn't mean you have to play him. Just because your paying doesn't mean you have to pay him, but I am sure somebody would take him even if it meant very very little in return.
  17. we are a better "TEAM" without konerko. Something will have to get done to deal with him.
  18. lets hope konerko can stay out of the double play
  19. javy and Jose are clearly explaining why the sox will get another arm by the trade deadline, and why we need to carry 12 pitchers.
  20. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jul 9, 2008 -> 02:35 PM) I'm not sure why we're obsessed with having 12 pitchers on the roster. Personally I think the sox learned alot from 2005 especially about pitching and going through arms. In the second half we will begin to protect our pitchers much more, having twelve pitchers brings added flexibilty. I do also think Adam Russell will be used much more now. Its his chance to shine, if he does he will become very valuable down the stretch. In my opinion the sox will still look for a trade to get another arm.
  21. DJ will come north at least for a week
  22. I think Carrasco could be the guy they will bring up
  23. whats the status of DJ Carrasco?
  24. QUOTE (joesaiditstrue @ Jul 3, 2008 -> 02:14 PM) those of you who say Stone will be back broadcasting with the cubs eventually, where do you get that idea? everytime I've heard stone discuss the cubs front office, he had absolutely nothing but bad things to say about it, he never once made it seem as if he were interested in working for them again But the front office is changing, the ownership is changing.
  25. Well I think its very telling that hawk is playing this completely hands off. The guy has been with the org for years and I am certain he has some input on who he works with. Too me that is the real story.
