QUOTE(JimH @ Aug 13, 2005 -> 07:47 PM) Frail, no. Not by a long shot, he knows what he's talking about. Here is a phrase to put in your Microsoft notebook computer, disgression is the better part of valor. Wednesday ... yes, can do. if disgression was used all the time nothing would get done! For instance KW used his disgression during the trade season and now we are stuck with bulls***.

QUOTE(Soxpranos @ Aug 13, 2005 -> 07:49 PM) Dude .. I was gonna post the same thing, but decided not to. Braves have 11 rookies on the team. 4 on Offense that are every day players... they produce given the chance. Sox are always gun shy on bringing prospects to the majors , unless they are on fire in the Minors. Great point Fathom there minors are better than ours because they know how to draft and coach. We don't. that simple. Do you think the braves would draft Wes Whisler? I think not.

QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Aug 13, 2005 -> 07:41 PM) Hawk is silent again tonight on his "where would he play" BS regarding Griffey. He actually started popping that off in a game Timo was batting fifth as a DH. Thats it we won't get him. He loves griffey said he was the best player in the nineties. To me this means KW and Ozzie privately said we won't get him so start talking up the team we have. If he thinks Everett or Dye is better than Griffey than he is an idiot.

QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 13, 2005 -> 07:41 PM) Ok, I'm ready to get bashed for being negative, but am I the only one who feels like we're just trying to survive the rest of the season with our lead? In a way, we're playing not to lose? I just get the sense that Ozzie is praying we can just coast the rest of the way without it becoming a race. other teams are getting better and we are not. Thats what it is.

QUOTE(JimH @ Aug 13, 2005 -> 07:40 PM) Yes, 75 yr. old guys in particular. Nice. its not like he is frail, the guy charged back, which made me charge back more. Can you go Wensday?

QUOTE(JimH @ Aug 13, 2005 -> 07:39 PM) Wait, so you told the wife that Vince Vaughn likes to sleep with men, right? The old "the best defense is a good offense" approach, right? Actually vaughn was suppose to show up but didn't He probably found somebody better looking. Stop yourself she is not that great.Just ask my buddy Brad

QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 13, 2005 -> 07:38 PM) Am I the only one who thinks the Yankees will win the Wild Card over the Angels? Fathom what is really scary as I look at your posts is that we think exactly alike. I think the Yankees will come on, but despite that, I think we do not have the depth to go along way in the playoffs. New York in playoff time is different than regular season, so is boston. Did I mention we need Griffey. Thought so.

QUOTE(JimH @ Aug 13, 2005 -> 07:32 PM) Wait, let me guess TQ, you started your usual arguing politics schtick with Aniston and that scared her away ... I save that only for close friends family members
-
QUOTE(JimH @ Aug 13, 2005 -> 07:29 PM) Stop with this. Did Aniston have a short skirt on? That is the issue. She had tight long jeans and a sleevleess top. her ahir is exactly as it is in people magazine. Big deal, you can have her.

QUOTE(GBlum27 @ Aug 13, 2005 -> 07:31 PM) Crede is f***ing trash Totally agree, I hate him as much as I hate harris

QUOTE(JimH @ Aug 13, 2005 -> 07:27 PM) Memo to you, Sears Optical. NOW. She has a big nose and a long face. There were at least 20 other babes there last night that were way better. The place is full of babes. We were eating in the downstairs nightclub area. Look at the riverwalk area on the site. Thats where we were. Probably one of the hottest spots to go and look at poon. Wife likes the Sushi.

QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 13, 2005 -> 07:23 PM) The 2 most replaceable guys on our offense are Timo and Ozuna. The problem is, those are two of Ozzie's favorites that can do no wrong. We need to make some upgrades, but it's harder to do when there's no one you feel you can "replace". Its a huge problem as i just got my playoff bill. Anyway, I blame managment fully for not getting the better players. Huff or Griffey would have been great. Worrying about our s***ty Minor league players should not be an issue. Just ask Schueler what that got him.

QUOTE(JimH @ Aug 13, 2005 -> 07:21 PM) Japonais, the joint on south Wabash or is it on restaurant row over there on Randolph? Aniston ... how did she look, short skirt per chance? Hot? its on chicago http://www.japonaischicago.com/index2.html she looked alright, I don't think she is good looking so I am a bad judge. Looked the same in person as on screen.

QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 13, 2005 -> 07:12 PM) Since Thomas got injured, our bench is just awful. We have no power on the bench at all, something that could be important if the Sox make the playoffs. or if DYE or Everett go down. It could happen easily. We screwed up, we needed to make a better trade. I hate all that bulls*** about chemistry. What crap. Build the team to win the damn world series, and if everyone did there damn job the chemistry would be fine. We had great chemistry in 2000, and we literally fell apart at the end. same will happen this year if we don't get help.

QUOTE(JimH @ Aug 13, 2005 -> 07:10 PM) What are you doing home? We almost did the Door, but decided to get a 30 pack of Miller High Life instead. I am on #3, you know that's about my limit. out last night, wife dragged me to japanoi for over priced rice balls. Jennifer Aniston was sitting at the table/couch thing next to us. made My wifes night. I could care less. I told her her if she was so great Pitt would not have dumped her. She thought that was a bit incensitive. By the way we will get swept this weekend because we ran into a better team. We are great against teams that suck. If we play them in the playoffs we will get squashed. Get Griffey we might have a shot.
-
QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 13, 2005 -> 06:53 PM) Can Hawk go one game without trying to say how great the Sox are compared to other teams? It's almost like he's trying to convince himself that this team is better than the Yanks or Red Sox. I have said it for months and continue to do so, we need better players. Griffey would fit in very nicely in this lineup. Everyone is so worried about who gets playing time. Players get hurt and they get dinged up. If Perez and Ozuna are the backup outfielders we WILL not succeed in the playoffs. Teams in a position like ours need to position themselves well for the playoff roster.

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Aug 12, 2005 -> 03:18 PM) My god, you are around. Were you visiting Willie Harris? I made sure sure Willie was safely tucked away on a bed of nails down in AAA. Not too many left to hate. Crede is next on my list.
-
QUOTE(RockRaines @ Aug 12, 2005 -> 12:23 PM) Hes completely worthless to other teams. He's old, a non-prospect and was s***ty in MLB action. And Quick, I didnt know you were still around? stop yourself

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Aug 12, 2005 -> 12:08 PM) The Sox have shown a history where they directly link their payroll to their attendance revenues. Just from an amatuer observation based on this years attendance trends, we should be looking at a payroll of at least $90 million next year. If the Sox can somehow make it to, or win, the World Series, we should be around $100 million. I agree
-
QUOTE(ChiSox_Sonix @ Aug 12, 2005 -> 11:32 AM) As much as it'd be great to have Griffey here, with his injurt history taken into account, I'm really hesitant to give up Chris Young as part of the deal. Because Chris Young is a superstar, or going to be a superstar Right? Just like Borchard or Crede. Right? Chris young could get hit by a car tommorrow. THe Sox should not pass up an opportunity to get an elite player while they are positioned for the post season. This guy will put us over the top and the lineup will scare opponents in the playoffs a hell of alot more than it does today. we need left handed bats against the Angels, Redsox and Yankees. Expecially the Angels, I don't think they have a left hander worth a damn in the bullpen. Make the trade now. Please
-
QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Aug 12, 2005 -> 10:01 AM) Could you imagine if this is the first real season the Yankees suffer from depleting their farm system to a steaming pile? The Sox are reaping all the benefits. remember you said no way in hell they get Griffey. I am holding you to it.

QUOTE(beck72 @ Aug 12, 2005 -> 06:40 AM) If a deal did go through, payroll would increase to fit him in. The sox aren't going to cut payroll [carl and Frank would say their goodbyes though; and I could see Contreras being dealt with BMac replacing him] and cut corners elsewhere in future yrs in order to fit in his contract. Though like every team, they could sell off higher paid players if they are out of the playoff hunt by the deadline in 2006 and beyond. Also, the sox couldn't make a deal like this unless they also had good minor leaguers [hence cheap and affordable] ready to make an impact in the yrs ahead. beck why must the payroll be the same next year, why won't payroll be more next year? Makes sense, we will draw 2.3 million fans this year plus playoff revenue. I think we will add to payroll not keep it the same.
-
QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Aug 9, 2005 -> 09:26 PM) And Sox fans wonder why the White Sox get no attention by the national sports outlets? Bring in your god damn closer. f***ing greenhorn. exactly, I cannot stand this managing by the gut. It will come back to haunt you sooner or later.
