  1. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Aug 29, 2005 -> 11:04 AM) Anyone? midnight 31
  2. QUOTE(tonyho7476 @ Aug 29, 2005 -> 09:13 AM) I don't know, that Bruce Levine is always right! He's claiming this s*** again on AM1000 today...deal in the next day....its driving me nuts! what is he saying today? I missed that.
  3. I will find it hard to believe another team now our over the winter will want to pick up Griffey's contract. Its nice Griffey wants to be loyal to the reds but the reds went nowhere with him and I beleive that will be the case as he ages.
  4. QUOTE(RDriesen @ Aug 28, 2005 -> 11:14 AM) some of you need to realize the reason you are hearing comments like that from cincy players/coaches is because the CHICAGO media wont shut the hell up. this thing has been dead for a lonnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnng time. it isnt talked about in any media outlet in ohio except to refute what a chicago person says. the players and coaches are getting sick and tired of being asked 1million times everyday by chicago media and such about it. what do you expect. i love how when you have a chance to get the guy, no bashing, all love. then the min it turns sour, some start complaining and bashing like youve never heard. griffey doesnt want to move. so what, move on. thats life Well it will give cincinatti something to do. My take is that this is Griffeys last chance for a ring. The reds will not do anything remotely close for the next three years and Griffey can get injured quite frequently and he is getting old. Its unfortunate that it won't work out for both sides. The sox are ready this year and the Reds really need to re-build a bit especially around pitching. The reason that the Chicago media keeps bringing it up is because there was soemthing to it. I assume they were close at one time recently and I am sure we went back to them last week to sweeten the deal. That's why it keeps coming up. As for my friend Addison telling you to move on. I kind of like you here to bring another perspective. Is Ryan freel still injured? because I want him too.
  5. Writers can write what they want. I think this guy and the comments by the manager are a bit smug. First off, the Reds are terrible and there management is even worse. Second and most importantly the reason the Sox are pursuing agressively is because the Sept 1 deadline is looming. Its not because of the past week. We need to get a bat in for the playoff roster. I think cinci needs to stay concerned about there backyard and not comment negatively on a first place team with a 9 game lead (11 in the loss column)
  6. QUOTE(Dam8610 @ Aug 28, 2005 -> 03:12 AM) Maybe if someone were to ask Boyer REALLY nicely, he could get the White Sox to sell it? I did he won't
  7. Ok, I will indeed beleive you guys. if you heard it. then lets get ready.Damn I am back in Addison.
  8. The reds board is laughing at us. Unless people actaully hear this then I suggest not beleiving what some idiot on the main board says. Its stupid. I ask again...Has anyone on this board actaully heard Bruce levine report this? Please step forward.
  9. QUOTE(Frank the Tank 35 @ Aug 27, 2005 -> 04:11 PM) Wow, Bruce Levine reported several hours ago that the Sox bumped up their offer for KGJ. I'm surprised nobody's jumped on the rumor here. I guess everyone's kinda lulled into a sense that nothing's going to get done. They're offering to take on more of KGJ's contract. Bruce said that both sides have agreed on the players involved, and the only step necessary would be for Junior to publically ask for the trade so that the owner could say he gave Griffey want he wanted and doesn't look like the bad guy who traded him. Bruce said that as soon as that happens a trade could be consumated by tonight or tomorrow (obviously something would have to be done by Wednesday). I'm assuming everyone here will take a "believe it when I see it" approach, as will I. Ok in all seriousnesss, did you hear this or did you look at another post from another board. I am not picking a fight but I have had the radio on all afternoon and nothing has come up. No break ins nothing. So please, did you actaully hear this with your own ears?
  10. QUOTE(Adam G @ Aug 27, 2005 -> 03:59 PM) I bet it's going to happen, against all odds. When it does happen all the Bruce Levine haters will have to eat crow because he's been on this story for weeks and it'll finally have come to fruition. The whole world has been on this story, its not like he was the only one.
  11. did anyone other than the two guys in this thread actaully hear levine say these things. No controversy but I have not heard levine say this stuff.
  12. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Aug 27, 2005 -> 01:58 PM) I've come to grips with the fact that we're not getting Griffey. What I really want to know is who we are really going to get. It's sorely obvious we need someone, and you can't tell me that there's absolutely nobody out there that we can't get. Interesting point especially since Crede is now hurt. You know something will happen even if Griffey is not the one.
  13. QUOTE(southsideirish @ Aug 27, 2005 -> 02:01 PM) I heard this on another station as well, but I can't remember where. It was earlier this morning. They said that the Griffey Jr. trade is not only back on but HOT as hell. They have agreed on the players involved (maybe Brian Anderson? his night last night may have made believers of some) in the trade and the WHITE SOX have agreed to pay even more of Junior's salary. If Griffey will agree to come here and Linder signs off on the deal we can see Griffey as early as Monday. This would be absolutely unreal!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! bench Brian Anderson right now! Don't let him hit again until the deadline passes.
  14. QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Aug 27, 2005 -> 12:55 PM) Don't you realize what you've done!!!!???? Hurry up and delete this before someone reads it. It's over gang. Over. Not happening. stop it I still want it to happen, I need this badly. My bi polar mind depends on it.
  15. QUOTE(downstairs @ Aug 27, 2005 -> 07:59 AM) Being new to this board, I know it may have been asked before... but I did a search here and found nothing. Does anyone know where I can get a copy of the opening montage video they play at the Cel? A downloadable video would be fine... You cannot get it. There are MLB copyright laws which no-one can get around.
  16. QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Aug 26, 2005 -> 01:44 PM) Shut your mouth and play ball, Paulie. I cringe everytime this guys talks to the press. totally agree, sounds like a guy who knows he may not be here much longer.
  17. QUOTE(YASNY @ Aug 26, 2005 -> 01:55 AM) Southern Cross. Another great song from that album, if memory serves me correctly. not from that album, but good song.
  18. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Aug 25, 2005 -> 10:30 PM) We've talked before about possibly setting up a PayPal or gift money section of Soxtalk for anyone who wanted to donate but we weren't sure how it would go over. actaully I am asking about the software. what do you need or desire, specifically.
  19. QUOTE(kapkomet @ Aug 25, 2005 -> 04:42 PM) Dude, I was hitting refresh like a man possessed too. That's what happens. If you hit refresh, and then you hit refresh AGAIN while that command was being processed against the database, your first refresh hangs the software up. That's what makes it bog down and get too many connection errors. Does that explain it a little better? Unless we go to a full version of SQL, ya'll are going to have to deal with it, because we don't exactly have $5K sitting around to do that. 5k for what the software or hardware?
  20. QUOTE(JimH @ Aug 25, 2005 -> 07:15 PM) Well fathom, see, that's what quickman is put on earth for. His entire purpose is to correct people, or otherwise spread pertinent information. It is best you have him stick exclusively to baseball, when it gets into politics, all decorum goes out the window. Unbelieveable. I see your back to yourself again. Just can't stay away, always there making people feel good. Keep it up.com
  21. sorry to dissapoint, Crede Blows, and I hate him. I hope he is down forever.
  22. QUOTE(GoSoxGo @ Aug 25, 2005 -> 06:41 PM) Mackowiak has been garbage after the All-Star break... 98 AB | .224 AVG | .269 OBP | .327 SLG | .596 OPS | 1 HR | 11 RBI | 6 BB | 22 SO Not that I'd want him but did he even clear waivers anyways? Mackoviak was pulled back off waivers he couldn't come if he wanted to.
  23. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 25, 2005 -> 12:09 AM) Chicagosports.com is reporting that B. McCarthy will likely start one of the games of a doubleheader in Texas. Hopefully he does well, but I like the choice a lot more than Adkins, Munoz, or Diaz. This will be the third time texas sees this guy. Once in spring training and now twice in texas. He will get tattooed. Unfortunately.
  24. QUOTE(toasty @ Aug 17, 2005 -> 08:52 PM) just for clarification, can anybody in chicagoland verify that comcast sports net is indeed available on direct tv and/or dish network? yes of course it is. Channel 640 on direct tv
  25. QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Aug 16, 2005 -> 05:16 PM) I don't know if it's simply conjecture or not, but, he's been mentioning his name as one that clear waivers and a potential target for Mr. Willams. Levine maintains Kenny will add another bat within the next 2 weeks. young would be a dissapointment. i don't think he scares anyone. hopefully there is something else.
