QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Dec 14, 2005 -> 02:54 PM) You and me both. To be perfectly honest with you, I think I was a little shell-shocked to see such a package headed out to the desert for a starting pitcher-albeit someone with "ace-stuff"--but, have since realized if Garland was simply not in the cards for 2006 and beyond, Kenny netted a front-of-the-rotation type pitcher for under $8M per year. That's pretty impressive. But, shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh...don't tell Soxtalk I told you this. They're quite good when it comes to remembering. Like I said I was dissapointed, now you are seeing the light. By the way the five year board has gone bye bye, the World series has a tendancy to change things.

Well Addy besides Jim you are clearly a person I respect on this board, but I think you should calm down. We are better today than yesterday as it pertains to this season. Viscaino was no prize and El dugue is 50 and broken. Young could be good or not. I don't miss Jeremy Reed at all. All you youngsters loved his ass. GET BETTER PLAYERS and win again QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Dec 14, 2005 -> 11:30 AM) He lost me, TQ. I'm just awestruck. Clearly, there is another move in the wings, here, and I have no idea what direction Kenny is heading. Is he perfectly clear on what direction he is heading? I was always the first to salute Kenny and give him the benefit of the doubt--the man brought a World Championship to this city after 88 years--but, he truly lost an ardent supporter today. He flat-out cut off his nose to spite his face. -You lose bullpen depth in Luis Vizcaino. Remember bullpen depth? You know...one of the key components to that World Series Roster -You completely f***-up McCarthy's situation. That kid was absolutely ready for that fifth-starter's role this year and I can say that without a shaddow of a doubt. What the hell is going to happen there? Are you telling me you are going to stick Brandon in the bullpen for 2006, waiting for an injury? -It appears Jon Garland, a guy who would probably leave after this season, whom CAN BE REPLACED IN 2006 FREE AGENCT, is on his way out along with Chris Young, the Golden Boy and CF of the future. He lost me. He's going to have to earn this supporter--and his money, devotion, and time at the ballpark--back.

QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Dec 14, 2005 -> 11:17 AM) You had me...and you lost me. I'm nauseous. Hand to God: I'm actually nauseous. I'm off the wagon, Kenny. You now have to make me a believer. No support on this move. i am clearly dissapointed in you of all people.

Jim, This is why I don't post anymore. Why in the world would we want the best shortstop in baseball and a top ten player in the game. We couldn't lose our precious Brandon Mcarthy. Why would we want to add payroll to get better players. Silly just silly

Just when I thought I was out, I get pulled back in. I told Jim I heard juan Pierre was traded to the yankees. He asked if it was a done deal I said I think so but turn on the radio because I caught the tail end. It appears that Jim did not do this and cited me as a source which I am not. Please keep me out of it. I am here to read not post. Thanks very much.

QUOTE(JimH @ Sep 4, 2005 -> 04:43 PM) Spoken like a true old guy who remembers all the old time announcers. i don't understand. I do know the old announcers, and the new ones. I still listen no matter the announcers. Its the team I follow, not the announcers. In fact i could care less about the players individually. Nothing personal, but the all move around and shop there talents. Its not like the sixties when the players stay with a team. Same with announcers. Consistancy is nice, but please don't tell me we won't like the sox less, or we won't listen anymore. All this sounds like is young people who have never heard another announcer broadcast a whitesox game. Everyone will adapt just fine. Remember- Lorne Brown, harry carey,Early wynn, Jack Drees, Bud Kelly,Bob elson. They were all here, they all left , and more came in.

QUOTE(aboz56 @ Sep 4, 2005 -> 11:33 AM) Whatever the case may be, although I am pretty confident in what I know about this whole story, the offer was obviously a slap in the face. He's been with the club 18 years. He is, in my view, the best radio pbp guy in the business and the USA Today poll reflected that as well. Whether it was a pay cut, a small raise, whatever the case may be, he did not want to leave the White Sox. Like anyone else in business, if you are not paid fair market value, you are forced to look at other options. It is unfortunate that the new home of the the Sox, "The Score", is too cheap to realize this. Their White Sox radio contract just because a whole lot less valuable without John Rooney. The replacement they get can only hope to one day achieve the level of his greatness on the air, which I never see happening. i disagree, quite frankly he has the choice of accepting the offer or not. he chose not to you. I am really not understanding the loyalty to a radio announcer. He announces the game. He does a good job but so can others. Its the game and the team we should be worried about, not the announcer. I thought Steve Stone was good, he got fired, life goes on, people move on, people get fired, its really not the end of the world. People will still listen and people will still watch. Aboz wait till they let buerhle go one day, and it will happen.

QUOTE(the People's Champ @ Sep 3, 2005 -> 09:19 PM) they trained you good :headshake actually they have paid me for the years I put in. Other than that they owe me nothing. My choice to work there. I can shop around for a better deal at another company if I want to, otherwise, I shut up and do my job.
-
Well,I realize everyone likes Rooney, so do I. THis is business. He could accept what the score was offering or he has the choice to move on. Same in any other business in america. I realize that listening to the same guy for 18 years is a big deal. Its no different than losing ball players to free agency. It didn't work out. They will move on, get another guy, and if the sox are good nobody will give a s***. If melton does it or Stone does it, than in a year everything will be fine. I think its just business.
-
I guess I look at this a different way. THe score was going to provide him a modest increase, he has the right to refuse it and go on. Its the american way. Thats the way the business world works. You could be mad at Rooney for not accepting the deal. He is getting a raise.ITs his choice, not the scores. I think many of you if will find out this is the way the world works if you have not done so already. By the way I have worked for the same company for 15 years. They owe me nothing if they cut me tommorrow for any reason.

we are going to drop a pair today and first place will soon be a distant memory Wow now I realize what Cub fans feel like. Very very depressing.

QUOTE(jphat007 @ Aug 29, 2005 -> 09:29 PM) ANd then you can say Santana is having the better year. But unless you can accurately tell the future, you have no point. but I can, just like tonight I said he would give up 6-7 runs. it happened. When BMAC gets shelled maybe you will believe the great karmac!
-
QUOTE(jphat007 @ Aug 29, 2005 -> 09:25 PM) In the only stat that matters, how many runs a pitcher gives up over a comparable number of innings, which is the only thing he can control, Mark beats out Santana this year. I'm not sure how much more clear that can get. But wait a couple more outings, and Buerhles ERA will be over 3.50. then 3.60, then 3.70.
-
QUOTE(jphat007 @ Aug 29, 2005 -> 09:24 PM) What does that have to do with who has been the better pitcher this year? Or any of this striaght up trade talk. People are acting like I'm arguing who is the better pitcher. Of coure i suppose they saw they were wrong otherwise so they had to change it to that? I'm not sure. I guess nobody knows what your point is except you.
-
QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Aug 29, 2005 -> 09:20 PM) If Ryan offered Santana for Mark Buerhle straight up. KW would yell DEAL before Ryan got Santa out of his mouth. Nah wouldn't want to mess with Chemistry
-
QUOTE(jphat007 @ Aug 29, 2005 -> 09:07 PM) LOL. Yah, lets split up the halves, like that means anything. No reason in the year as a whole when looking a thte best pitcher. There is no argument about who has played better in the second half. I don't care about that. Buerhle has been better overall though. The most important stat for a pitcher is how many runs he gives up. Not how he does it, and Mark has been better in that this year. Furthermore, who cares about his Cy Young last year. What the hell does that have anything to do with who has been the better pitcher this year. I do, it goes back to my tendency note. Now if he sucks in the second half, then why would he not suck in the playoffs? He has sucked lately. Getting hit and not pitching like an ace. Thats a problem.

QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Aug 29, 2005 -> 08:56 PM) In Japan, Iguchi would have been tied up and whipped in front of a public square for this disgraceful defensive performance. Guillen needs to save face and take out Iguchi before his embarrasses himself further. LOL
-
QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 29, 2005 -> 08:54 PM) Did you expect him to do something different? How can Buehrle get the win if he's taken out? Heaven forbid we rest our pitcher's arms a little. Maybe, just maybe....that would explain the higher ERA in the 2nd half of the season for the guys who have thrown the most innings. no he has a double header tommorow against a big offensice team with a rookie pitcher. he is saving his bullpen for tommorrow. Only explanation. We will see "THE BAJ " tonight. our savior .
-
QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Aug 29, 2005 -> 08:53 PM) Please raise your hand if you would take Buerhle over Johan, or by that mark any of our pitchers over Johan. Johan wins he is the Clemens of our league
-
QUOTE(jphat007 @ Aug 29, 2005 -> 08:52 PM) Um. Get back to me when he has an better ERA. maybe after tonight.
-
QUOTE(jphat007 @ Aug 29, 2005 -> 08:48 PM) Only on this board do people get after the best pitcher in the league. It's incredible. don't take things so personally. its like your buerles brother. He has lost his edge in the second half. My whole point is that he is getting hit. When you give up hits to good teams you get beat. You can over come hits when you play bad teams. PS Iguchi is out of his damn mind right now. He is out of control. Any defense on that?
-
QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Aug 29, 2005 -> 08:45 PM) We hit in the 250s with pod in April and May. There was this HOF hitting guy who came in around June and July. That was when we hit 270 as a team. Then when he gets hurt, we hit in the 220s. But if you think it was Pods who struck fear and got all those other hitters their good fastballs to hit instead of the HOFer that we havent replaced, to each their own. nice which is why we need griffey (HOF)

QUOTE(jphat007 @ Aug 29, 2005 -> 08:39 PM) I stated a fact. There is no apologizing. How can you be an apologist for the best team in the AL. YOu want a winner? You have one, by 5.5 games in the freaking AL. I just get sick of some of these incredibly dumb posts I'm reading. not trying to be dumb, right now we are getting routed for the second day in a row with our aces on the mound. You can shurk it off to "it happens" if it continues tommorow, you can shurk it off again, if we get swept, well its a problem. We are not playing well lately. That too is a fact. You can lean on the win streak but we beat a light hitting team in Minny and a last place team in seattle. No biggie.
-
QUOTE(jphat007 @ Aug 29, 2005 -> 08:38 PM) But he hasn't. Thats just the f***ing thing. Nobody bothers to look anything up. He's gotten hit around by Oakland twice and Boston once. Lots of awesome pitchers get beat around by those guys. Seriously. At least do some research before spouting off garbage. Two of his non QS are against KC. I suppose that makes him not a great pitcher because he can't dominate the bad teams. I mean, i just can't believe what I"m reading. Ok look up how many hits he has given up in his last five starts. its not good. He is getting hit. Good teams put runs on the board when they hit.

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Aug 29, 2005 -> 08:28 PM) whats our record since the break, and whats clevelands? clealnd has the best record in baseball since the break. i think we are a few games over 500 since the break.
