  1. QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Jul 30, 2005 -> 10:03 PM) You got it, TQ. This time, we'd have to make it a Southside affair. They can keep their Northside "expierence." I'll drop you a line in the not too distant future! terrific, looking forward to it.
  2. QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Jul 30, 2005 -> 09:51 PM) After watching the brilliant minds of ESPN's Baseball Tonight, I really, really, really think Kenny is going to land both Baez and Huff. Now, I'm not even going to b**** this time; and I'll tell you why. 1) Not only will Huff be able to come in and provide some MUCH needed offense in this, our best shot at a WS in the forseeable future; but, the guy will be under contract and will allow Konerko to pack his bags this off-season. I REPEAT: Huff, if acquired, would be the everyday starting 1B for the 2006 Chicago White Sox...no need to find Konerko's replacement--he'd already be on the roster. 2) F*ck it. Trade McCarthy. Hell, if it takes McCarthy AND Chris Young, I'd have to think long and hard about it. Looking at LaMaar's past moves, it will take nothing short of McCarthy and another HIGH prospect or two to get this thing done. 3) Baez comes in and replaces Vizcaino on the depth chart. Translation: improved bullpen with another closer possibilty 4) Huff could come in and friggin dominate in USCF. Spelling both Konerko and Crede, Huff would get a TON of AB's and I think he'd become a fan favorite in no time. 5) If acquired, Huff would probably spell the end of Ross Gload with the 05' Sox...sorry Timo-haters. 6) As far as the other rumors--i.e. Burnett, Guardado--nothing doing. Seriously. It appears the best shot Kenny has to put new players on the roster would come from Tampa Bay...if it means overpaying to make a big deadline splash...go for it. ...um...I guess that's it for now. addison welcome to the club! I always liked you. Hope your summer is going well. Would love to share a game with you sometime. Let me know if your schedule is easing.
  3. QUOTE(JimH @ Jul 30, 2005 -> 09:36 PM) So ... by this post Carnac the Quicknificent, you are telling us you think the Sox will get Huff? Is that what you're sayin'? Enquiring Minds Want To Know. Now i know you have had too many PBR's. Why are you drinking and typing. Its not a good look for you. Nowhere did I say we would get him, but if we did I would defend the trade as a positive. What I will say is that Lamar will not want to keep either of those guys. I do think both will be traded. Lamars best shot will be now, not the waiver.
  4. QUOTE(Mr. Showtime @ Jul 30, 2005 -> 09:25 PM) Jim or TQ, I'm all for getting Huff, but where do you guys see him playing? Do you think he'd be splitting time with Carl? Show, He will spell konerko, crede, and Dye. He will also DH. He is not great at third but is serviceable when Crede's back flares up. Most likely he will play 3-4 games per week. The key is the left handed power bat in the lineup. He gives Ozzie flexability for lineups. Everett will tire, and so will Dye. He is a great fall back. In addition, I am sure they will want him next year.
  5. QUOTE(JimH @ Jul 30, 2005 -> 09:21 PM) OK, first of all you crack me up, not in a good way. Second, I agree with you about going for it this year, and we are in agreement with minimally overpaying for the right guy - but at the same time not being stupid about things. Loved the teenager with anger management problems comment. I think it's the age old problem of teenagers not connecting enough with the opposite sex and you know exactly what I'm sayin'. Downtown Naperville was exceptionally scenic tonite, unbelieveable. Although our reception at Red Door was decidedly chilly, it appears to me that someone I know told management that we were unhappy with The Smarmy Guy and we are convinced that management told The Smarmy Guy all about it. We are lucky we didn't have spit floating in our PBR, I'm serious, I'm tellin' ya. I am still expecting a trade and I suspect KW will overpay to get a guy or two. Just about 15 hours to go, and then you can relax yourself, the trade deadline will be over, oh wait, there is the whole waiver deadline thing, never mind. I said we both didn't like smary. I included myself, and that was after I was told he would be gone. Who treated you bad? smarmy? so what. If brian treated you bad that would be another story. s*** you told all the broads you didn't like him either. its not like this is a secret.Grip yourself. This is coming from a guy who tells me that your personal goal was to get the guy fired. Unreal. keep yourself together.
  6. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jul 30, 2005 -> 09:18 PM) Crap, so the Giants aren't selling. I would say they are moving sideways. Jesse Foppert also went in the deal. He had as much fan fare and upside as Mcarthy, and he hasn't turned out to be anything.
  7. ps this also tells me that seattle is probably giving up on Olivio. You know that five tool catcher that everyone on the board loved.
  8. amazing, starks phone rang while on the air and randy winn gets traded to the giants for torrealba (spelling). real time stuff.
  9. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Jul 30, 2005 -> 09:11 PM) Good....gives us a chance at Baez and Huff. I agree, this helps limits the teams.
  10. QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Jul 30, 2005 -> 08:50 PM) yeah and what is he doing this year. Look Tracey, Sweeny, and another prospect however Chuck LaMar has a history of asking for the moon. Huff can't play defense because he is a BUTCHER with the glove. Sweeny is the number 3 prospect on the sox however to ask for Anderson, McCarthy, and maybe young is BS. Look it has to be a fair deal for both sides however all LaMar is doing is asking for the moon. How do you know what is fair? Mcarthy is the only one that played in the majors, and he sucked. We don't even know if the rumors are correct. I think I will trust the general manager on what to give rather than listen to a teenager with anger management issues. i agree with your statement that it has to be fair, just because Tampa asks for something doesn't mean they will get it. This board constantly over reacts to rumors, drilling down on things that never turn out to be true. Unless you hear things from two or more sources, I don't think any of it will happen. Finally the goal of every season is to win that season, not the next or the year after that. It is to win this season. Due everything you can to win this season, because you may not have the chance for many years.
  11. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jul 30, 2005 -> 08:16 PM) Where do you get this s*** from? Huff is a GOOD player? You're high, Huff is a potential 30/100/.300 875+ OPS guy considering how he's already done it once in his career and came damn close last season. That is not a good player that is a special player. Players like Huff are hard to find, Tracey + a mid level spect will not get it done. Take a look at Huff's '03 and '04 numbers then tell me he's just a good player. you are a wise man. I thank you.
  12. I completely agree, lets get him first before everyone jumps off a bridge, there were three bench players that would fit the bill, Mackoviak, graffinino (already traded) and ryan freel (my personal favorite, but won't be traded). Mackoviak would indeed fit this team. He can spell every infielder especially third base, and he plays hard. Those who have mlb extra innings probably have seen him play.
  13. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jul 30, 2005 -> 03:04 PM) He's great as a utility guy, but we'd still need to make another move for offense. I'm just saying I hope this isn't the only move we make in terms of offense. I think we are in every rumor out there, we have a tendency to regard our farm better than others. Point being, you need another team to like your players. If they don't then you can't trade. Fill the holes
  14. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jul 30, 2005 -> 03:02 PM) Why are people so against suring up the bench?? Mackowiak brings a solid left handed bat off the bench with a ton of versatility. He can play just about anywhere and is just a solid player. Like Tony said we wouldn't be giving up a lot to get him. I'd be all for it. Rowand, its ridiculous that people cannot see the whole picture.
  15. have a nice short life... you find the holes and you fill them, a bench player that can play third and short is a need. A starting pitcher would be an Upgrade, but not a need, a closer would also be extremely benificial beause hermanson is hurt. For those who are young without back problems you will never understand how much pain hermanson and crede are probably in several days a week. There are limited third baseman, and limited starters out there. If you can't get burnett or schmidt then there isn't much. Baez, mesa and EDDIE G are your options for a relief pitcher.
  16. I think what everyone should remember is that Crede is not completely healthy and can go down at anytime. In addition, mackoviak can play 4 or five positions, which gives the sox versitility. Lets face it OZUNA is not a starter and is the only player that can play 2 positions. This is a good move that won't cost alot. mackoviak plays the game well, despite his mediorcre stats this year.
  17. QUOTE(SpringfieldFan @ Jul 30, 2005 -> 12:34 PM) What the hell? Anyone else from downstate able to answer this. Why is our Fox affiliate not carrying the game this afternoon? ARGHHHHH!!!! SFF because your going to get the cardinals
  18. QUOTE(bighurt574 @ Jul 29, 2005 -> 10:22 PM) Wouldn't get it done, Boston could care less about the prospects, they're playing for this year. If I'm Boston, and looking at the White Sox, I'd be asking for Dye, Marte, and O. Hernandez. actually since we are all just speculating and know nothing about what the redsox would take. I will take that deal. Then trade my prospects off to get another pitcher. Of course none of this would happen, I think if KW is part of this deal its not for Manny but for huff. Adding a fourth team in this deal would not necessarily over complicate things.
  19. QUOTE(SoxFan562004 @ Jul 29, 2005 -> 09:38 PM) ESPN is now reporting that this deal is basically dead because Red Sox want more than Cameron and Huff... they want Looper too... Red Sox are going to ask for the moon for Manny, and they should. actually on sportscenter airing now, they reported that jason stark is reporting that the deal has a deadline of 12 noon tommorrow to go through and settle on players.
  20. Bedard is pitching like crap right now. We need to strike.
  21. QUOTE(AWhiteSoxinNJ @ Jul 29, 2005 -> 07:31 PM) Nevin's no trade clause doesn't apply to Texas, but Chan Ho does have one, and will likely wave it according to Rotoworld: The Padres and Rangers have agreed to swap Phil Nevin and Chan Ho Park, with Park heading to San Diego if he is willing to waive his no-trade clause. The Rangers aren't on Nevin's no-trade list. Park can veto the deal, but he's expected to accept it. Obviously, it'd be a great switch for his ERA and the Padres are more likely than the Rangers to advance to the postseason. Right now, there doesn't seem to be much room for Nevin in the Texas lineup, although a Richard Hidalgo trade could change that. With the roster as is, he should only play against left-handers. Jul. 29 - 7:45 pm et just what texas needed, more bats. Tells me they have another deal pending.
  22. hawk just said that nevin was traded for chan ho park, problem is both players have a no trade.
  23. QUOTE(Brian @ Jul 29, 2005 -> 07:14 PM) Classless. funny, this comes from a guy who has an avatar of a girl dancing and her skirt lifting up!
  24. commentary: stating the obvious el duque has to get right. he throws way too many pitches and is in trouble alot. confidence is fading, he needs a great game.
  25. I think it was a sac fly I stepped out of the room
