Well, they may want jenks on the roster by trading shingo for a prospect it opens up a spot on the roster. That way Elduque can take that spot. They rarely use shingo anyway, so this might save cash to be used somewhere else, open up a spot, and keep a hard throwing jenks in there longer for a better look. To me we are not losing much.

QUOTE(JimH @ Jul 15, 2005 -> 07:03 PM) This is just great, I show up on the game thread just in time to get insulted. Oh wait ... it's quickman, the mental ignore feature kicked in. Why don't you come to the Illinois wine festival at Starved Rock in Sept.? You might learn something ... no wait, scratch that part about learning something. yea thats it, I am going to go to a Wine festival at Starved Rock. Do you realize how this sounds? -
QUOTE(JimH @ Jul 15, 2005 -> 06:57 PM) You are so full of nonsense. That damn cell phone of yours is constantly ringing, and it isn't work, the wife, or the kids. Stop yourself. Your problem is you have friends but you don't like the friends you have, take it easy on yourself, you know exactly what I'm sayin'. Your friends all have strong opinions and that drives you nuts. Have some wine Mr. Sommelier. What a blow hard. Go back to posing for pictures.

QUOTE(kman @ Jul 15, 2005 -> 03:45 PM) Has anyone on this board gone to a sox game alone or goes to them alone all the time? Just curious, cause it is hard sometimes to find people to go everytime you want to go. So lets hear it. I go alone alot. I have season tickets and my wife hates baseball. i don't have any friends either, therefore its me and me.

QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Jul 15, 2005 -> 11:14 AM) Have the two of them ever had a history? JR was a key leader in the 93 strike/hold out. Glavine I believe is the main leader for active players for the players union.

QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Jul 13, 2005 -> 10:40 PM) This guy is having a good time this season, huh? I know I am dense, I am not sure your point? What does going back a year have to do with now?

QUOTE(JimH @ Jul 13, 2005 -> 08:15 PM) BTW thanks for the Al's Beef today, you were right about the giardiniera, awful. However I definitely like the beef better than you, I found it a suitably average beef sandwich, although not in Stan's Drive In class. And I sent you something on Cobblestone's today. Now, on to the trades, things are opening up. Payton, Bradford, and supposedly this Preston Wilson deal. As soon as you leave, the floodgates will open, right when you have no internet access, you will definitely need to take it easy on yourself. Over/under on number of days Willie Harris is still on the team? Willie is gone tommorrow.

QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Jul 13, 2005 -> 07:25 PM) http://minorleaguebaseball.com/app/milb/ev...mes.jsp?mc=_sou While you are dreaming that the Marlins will trade you Burnett for reasons that defy logic check out your AA all-stars. (LH) Paulino Reynoso - Birmingham (RH) Sean Tracey - Birmingham (LH) Ryan Meaux - Birmingham Chris Stewart - Birmingham Casey Rogowski - Birmingham STARTING 1B who cares, do they play for us? Will they help us win the world series this year?

QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jul 13, 2005 -> 04:26 PM) Its the same problem that kept him out of the last month last season. A "tired" shoulder. The same shoulder he had surgery on that forced him to miss the 2003 season. I cannot understand how he possibly can be counted on to hold up the rest of the regular season and the playoffs. I also truly doubt KW and Ozzie expect him to hold up either. you are correct sir

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jul 13, 2005 -> 03:41 PM) I'll grant you all those points, but I don't think it's right to say he's gone down twice this season...I'd say he's gone down 1 time, tried to come back too early, and failed. I think both times it was basically the same problem, and he only had about 1-2 starts inbetween DL stints. semantics, he missed his starts twice due to injury
-
QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Jul 13, 2005 -> 02:58 PM) Yeah, that 4IP and 1ER in Charlotte, just proves it... him out the door. He's done. Gene he might have pitched that but then he may have experienced pain. What we do know is he is coming off an off season injury, he is old, and he went down twice this year. When he was pitching for us he was erratic. therefore my only point is he may not be a person to count on down the stretch.
-
QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Jul 13, 2005 -> 01:15 PM) I cannot disagree with this more. Im not going to start a numbers discussion, I will just state that I disagree. I agree furthermore I still don't think he is injury free. El Duque is still hurt.

QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Jul 13, 2005 -> 10:48 AM) Hopefully the Sox are putting out some feelers on Fuentes. I was really impressed with him when the Sox were in Colorado. On a side note, I had no idea that Ortiz and Podsednik were former mariners. if the mariners keep there teams together they would be killer.

QUOTE(YASNY @ Jul 13, 2005 -> 09:05 AM) I bet he even knows how to spell it. Ok I do type very fast, and yes he does have a dictionary next to his computer. Arrogant! The second R always kills me.

QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Jul 13, 2005 -> 09:03 AM) Since we are speaking of hawk happenings, a similar thing happened to me a week ago. I was pulling into a ATM drivethru around dusk when I saw something moving in front of me, it was a hawk who had just flown down to nail a mouse. My car startled him and he took off with the still-squirming mouse. Pretty cool stuff. Who needs Wild kingdom, just come to Soxtalk.

QUOTE(RibbieRubarb @ Jul 13, 2005 -> 09:00 AM) JimH and Quickman They're like the Marx Brothers...if one of the Marx brothers was dead and the other two weren't funny. JK Hah its early stick around its gets better as the day goes bye. he is so arogant sometimes

QUOTE(Steff @ Jul 13, 2005 -> 08:54 AM) I think Kenny might be able to convince Burnett to sign a 1 year extension for the chance at a series appearance.. just guessing though. I would love that thinking just don't know how realistic it is. This guy apparently desires to gointo free agency and with very few pitchers available I would find it hard to imagine him giving that up. But KW does some magical things.

QUOTE(JimH @ Jul 13, 2005 -> 08:57 AM) Oh stop yourself you are getting senile or something. Must be bad italian beef, maybe mad cow or something. Give me the over and under for a new starting pitching acquisition before you are back from Cali. Unbelieveable scene in my backyard right now ... a huge hawk has clamped down on a blackbird and is devouring him ... feathers all over the place, wow. jimbo this happen in my back yard earlier this year but it was a rabbit. Hawk swooped down in front of our eyes and snatched the rabbitt. It was tremendous. Fantastic actaully. I hate rabbitts, going to buy a pellet gun they eat my whole yard.

QUOTE(JimH @ Jul 13, 2005 -> 08:45 AM) It'd take a lot bigger fly swatter than you'll ever have. Isn't it a bit early for you. Usually your not out of bed yet.

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jul 13, 2005 -> 08:37 AM) It's not like we haven't rented players before. I personally think you'd see AJ resigned quickly if he came over here, however if Kenny thinks Burnett is the missing piece and knows he can't resign him, he'll still pull the trugger for a shot to win that championship. rowand I certainly agree if this is the guy then go after him, I just don't think its normal for KW. I realize this is not a normal season. By the way I am glad your coming around to the trade thinking.!
