A's at White Sox 7/9 Gameday Thread

QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jul 9, 2005 -> 06:30 PM) God.Damn.It. I hope the A's die, I really do. Buehlre should never pitch against these guys because he just s***s his pants every single time. That's my rant for today. milkman i agree, buehrle is a different pitcher against these guys. furthermore the park is full, we s*** in our pants when the park is full. -
QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jul 9, 2005 -> 12:13 PM) He said that he actually does throw a change-up but didn;t thrown it because he hasn't had to use it. Fastball-Curveball is all he needs. He says he can throw all 4 pitches for strikes and that he really is never gonna shake off AJ lol. Fastball, curveballl, slider, change-up. ALL NASTY. He thinks AJ is a great catcher who knows what he is doing with his pitchers. Wouldn't suprise me if AJ walked over to him when he got here, and said don't you ever shake me off.

QUOTE(JimH @ Jul 9, 2005 -> 12:51 PM) I bet now that nothing will happen until after the AS break. They have to do something with the Gload situation, they've apparantly been burning the midnite oil trying to figure out what to do. Seems to me one move will lead to another. well I don't think they need to over analyze this thing. Perez and harris both suck. can't be that hard.
-
QUOTE(JimH @ Jul 9, 2005 -> 12:49 PM) have you heard something I missed, or is this just a general comment? No just reading the thread, there was a rumor earlier that the sox were looking at visquel and schmidt. Nothing imminent.
-
QUOTE(beck72 @ Jul 9, 2005 -> 08:42 AM) I'd be weary of letting Harris go as he still could be good insurance in case Tad gets hurt this year. If you got visquel then Uribe could play second if Iguchi goes down

I just don't understand this. We should be setting up for the world series. Time with Cooper? That does not sound like a guy who can help us win the world series. Is cooper the only Pitching coach who is good? I think not. I just don't think we get him unless we give up next to nothing.

QUOTE(YASNY @ Jul 9, 2005 -> 09:31 AM) The words of a man who has some lessons to be learned, yet. Yas, I live just fine without revealing all of my life to my wife. I am most certain she keeps some things from me, like her shopping!

this seems more like a deal you make in the offseason. this is not a deal to get us to the promise land.

QUOTE(JimH @ Jul 8, 2005 -> 10:58 PM) You need to seriously stop yourself because you are out of control. It was all I could do after you left the Red Door to convince Brian that it was safe to have you along on the bus trip to Motown. Not to mention I had to diffuse a situation between you and Mrs. Quickman ... so I think I will put a special quaalude in one of those cake donuts from Bridgeport Bakery to be dropped off on your front step Sunday morning. The only reason I am here every day is because street sweepers work every day, when someone spreads bulls*** there has to be someone to clean it up, you can consider that person me, in a non literal sense. How old is Gload by the way? Don't forget to mind your P's and Q's. Take it easy on yourself, you are totally out of control and your grip on reality loosens every time you attempt to do a rebuttal. I'm serious, stop yourself. You know exactly what I'm sayin'. Why must you live in the past. Live in the now. Now take your pill and go to bed. PS MRs. Quickmans comments were out of line considering we just talked about all that at home. Therefore, she should not have jumped on it, the only reason she did is because you like to play the hero and say I save Quickman from wasting all his tickets. Then she gets on my ass. Otherwise she has no clue what is there or not there. Do you think for one minute I tell her any of this stuff? Your nuts.

QUOTE(JimH @ Jul 7, 2005 -> 09:01 AM) I did not know that was her in your avatar. Interesting. She looked great without all the makeup, etc. and hair done up magazine style. you must like the earthy look. I know some farmers, I can dig a few up for ya.

QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Jul 8, 2005 -> 03:59 PM) I'm 22, and can remember the days of being 15 very easily. I recently graduated, and now attend every game I have the chanec to. However, enjoy the days of being 15, with no responsibiliies and bills... go sox. Steve I remember the days of 22, young, watch TV and games whenever you want. Just starting out, nothing hurts you, your eyes are great, girls everywhere, You drink all night long, and peform the next day, getting your own place, Not cleaning it up if you don't want to, eating pizza on the cocktail table. Enjoy 22 pal! And the World turns.

QUOTE(Steff @ Jul 8, 2005 -> 03:54 PM) Amen. I go to 50+ - but pay for ALL 81 thank you very much - I don't care who's sitting next to me rooting or how long they've been rooting. I pay attention to the game. I completely agree steff. Imagine that... I know what my dedication is and I also know the park should be full and our payroll should increase. Furthermore, we may convert a few with the type of season we have. As for getting around the park when full, I took care of that by going to the Club level. Always good up there.Rock next year, club level.

QUOTE(Mr. Showtime @ Jul 7, 2005 -> 09:45 PM) It doesn't bother me, just caught off guard. I was thinking maybe one was copying the other. Just for the record Jim and I sit and have a few beers, I come up with all this great stuff then Jim goes home, jumps on the board and steals my material. This really has to stop!
-
QUOTE(Mr. Showtime @ Jul 7, 2005 -> 08:34 PM) Did Quick and Jim just agree on something? That is not true, I think my explanation was far more elequent than his.
-
QUOTE(JimH @ Jul 7, 2005 -> 05:01 PM) It's tyrant, and tyrant = quickman. You guys should see him chastizing those who sit behind him at the games. Wow. You have a major editing problem. Everyday I look around and there you are. Newbies, This is the best sox forum you will ever find, Jim though likes to edit so watch out for this guy.

I really don't understand why everyone is so upset. Just because people don't think are players are great doesn't make them wrong. There is another thread started that praised our team. Are they better analysts? I don't think so. Sutcliffe has never been a fan of the Whitesox, and next year he will probably say we suck. Alot of these guys have played the game and now they analyze it. It doesn't make them wrong or right. We know what we have. Pods got in because people stacked the ballot box, otherwise nobody would have taken him. The system worked as it was laid out.

QUOTE(Balance @ Jul 7, 2005 -> 12:42 PM) Wow, what a reception! Thank you, everyone! welcome and watch out for JimH he can be an absolute tirant!

QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jul 7, 2005 -> 10:01 AM) Guardado was part of some great "chemistry" teams when he was with Minnesota. I really would be surprised if he became a cancer. Make him the closer and have Hermanson , Politte , Marte and Cotts handle the 7th and 8th. When Buerhle, Garland and Garcia start you would have to love the White Sox chances. You would have to love the Sox chances at least half of Contreras' and El Duque's starts. If another starter were also acquired..........Was it mentioned what it would take to acquire Guardado? Nope Gammons just said the Sox are looking at him.
-
QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jul 7, 2005 -> 09:59 AM) Trading Neal is a terrible idea. He's not going anywhere. I never said it was a good or bad idea.
-
QUOTE(upnorthsox @ Jul 7, 2005 -> 09:47 AM) Is the agent going to pitch for us or Eddie? Personally I put little stock in anything an agent says. As far as chemistry, he was much revered in the Twins clubhouse and is the same in the M's clubhouse and KW has plenty of knowledge of what kind of player he is along with AJP. IMO chemistry is a non-issue here. Terrific, I am sold.
-
QUOTE(JimH @ Jul 7, 2005 -> 09:32 AM) By the way the Diamondbacks are continuing to slide back in the standings. Cotts pitched two night in a row. AZ scouting, good trade bait for a starter. Not trying to start anything so please everyone calm down. He's young, pitching well, and the Sox are looking for a starter and AZ looking for bullpen help.
-
QUOTE(JimH @ Jul 7, 2005 -> 09:15 AM) Guardado has a limited no trade set up to protect his incentive clauses. Money money money. Which is fine, if I were him and his agent I'd do the same thing. Does it fit here? Not sure. I still think they push for a starter. If the perfect reliever falls in their lap, great. But I think they view another starter as being more useful, and slide El Duque on and off the DL if necessary. Jim I am not begrugging him for setting himself up to get money. The whitesox constantly talk about chemistry. We apparently have it. Therefore a guy who is more focused on himself (as many are) may not be the right person at this particular time. I like the idea of having him, but I don't think I like his agents attitude right now. Wagner talks about winning, not his contract. I want players who believe the Sox can and will win.

QUOTE(JimH @ Jul 7, 2005 -> 09:11 AM) Do you subscribe or did you finally break down and check it on the internet? can't subscribe they won't deliver to my neighborhood!
-
QUOTE(upnorthsox @ Jul 7, 2005 -> 09:03 AM) Yes and alot will depend on how things go this Sunday in Charlotte and the 18th vs Detroit. I would also guess that KW's got the M's GM on speed dial and is calling frequently. Well I already do not like the attitude that Eddie's agent has. He said he has to close plus his arm will need surgery. You don't think attitudes like that wreck clubhouses? I would rather have Ron villone.
