  1. QUOTE(aboz56 @ Jul 5, 2005 -> 10:48 AM) Maybe he can also be asked why every prospect we've called up the past 3 seasons has been a complete bust and not ready....Plain and simple, our farm system is horrible. I've withheld saying it for a while now, waiting to see if anything came out of it this year. I am tired of seeing other organizations continuously bring up major league talent while we bring up T-ball stands (Diaz, McCarthy, Munoz, Walker, etc.) and guys who can't hit worth a lick (Borchard comes to mind first). Our system needs to get examined and perhaphs rebuilt from the top. (End of rant.) Well aboz if I didn't read it, I swear it would have never come out of you. As you know I am in complete agreement. I will further state that last years draft was particulary crappy, which was on Wilders watch, although that won't come out for two more years. This is why, there should never be untouchables in the minors, its a total crap shoot. Furthermore, I completely understand why folks enjoy seeing kids progress. Its really a wonderful thing, but there are way too many people who "fall in love" with these guys only to take them off there list when reality sets in. many here loved Diaz remember? We can go on and on with names.
  2. QUOTE(JimH @ Jul 5, 2005 -> 10:36 AM) The Haegermeister !!! Gotta root for The Haegermeister. Hey, where are our crack staff at Future Sox? Let's get an interview with The Haegermeister. He is putting himself on the prospect radar and it'd be an interesting story with how he converted into a knuckleballer. Maybe even quickman would enjoy reading it. stop yourself. Don't care because they will be traded or stuck in the minors for years.
  3. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jul 5, 2005 -> 10:33 AM) Agree with you Jim, I think that may be a factor in determining who comes up. Jenks also has big league stuff, and was a high draft pick because of it. He could also be showcasing him to teams who are interested in his stuff. There are multiple factors that went into this decision im positive. Although we do have a knuckleballer down there as well, we could bring him up for a REALLY different look. Well I hope KW doesn't showcase anymore of our minor leaguers beause they suck. Let them scout them in Double or triple A.
  4. QUOTE(JimH @ Jul 5, 2005 -> 10:28 AM) I am a Ray Liotta affecionado myself. Everytime I hear Layla I think of Carbone frozen in the meat truck, love that movie. keep stirring the sauce my friend.
  5. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jul 5, 2005 -> 10:24 AM) Baj wasn't too impressive in the stint with the White Sox last year. But then again, neither has any pitcher they have brought up the past couple of years. I am really getting concerned with the scouting department. Who have they drafted the last 5 years that you really can confidently say is going to be an above average major leaguer? Anderson seems the logical answer , but he is striking out at an alarming rate. Sweeney has had mixed results . I'm a fan of BMac, but he is a AAA pitcher at best right now. Nobody, wait everyone here will start the GIO chant. Anyway, there success is really average. Where is the great Wes Wisler!!!!!!!!!!!
  6. QUOTE(JimH @ Jul 5, 2005 -> 10:21 AM) Here is one thing Bajenaru and Jenks have in common: They both walk guys at a rate of one every other inning. Do you guys think maybe, just maybe, KW wants guys who provide a totally different look (stuff wise) on the pitching staff? All the starters have totally different styles. Bajenaru has the power slider, much like Vizcaino and Hermanson. Jenks is a 100% totally different look, he has the monster fastball and the huge big breaker curve. No one on the Sox staff has that, particularly in the pen. That makes it tougher for opposition hitters to adjust. This is exactly why I believe Jenks got the call vs. Bajenaru, but call me crazy ... after you think about it for a few minutes. Crazy
  7. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jul 5, 2005 -> 10:18 AM) Like I said before, I think that is because no one talks about the B level prospects in trade speculation. Everyone is too busy talking about Anderson, McCarthy, Sweeney etc. I have a feeling that Baj will end up getting dealt in one of these deals, and will end up on someones 25 man roster by August 1st. Great I hope he brings us a major league pitcher.
  8. QUOTE(Yoda @ Jul 5, 2005 -> 09:54 AM) Talking about trading the youngsters (Addison’s post and sig ^ ^ ^ ) here are Bajenaru’s pitching stats: 3-1 1.16ERA 46.2IP 29H 6ER 56SO NOTE: He was not called up. Jenks instead was. IMO, KW is waiting to trade Baj, and a couple of other guys, for Schmidt or some other SP. I much rather prefer Oswalt, but that's just me. Yoda, no disrespect, but NOBODY wants the BAJ. Not even the Whitesox.
  9. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jul 5, 2005 -> 09:27 AM) From what I can tell about all this trade talk, the White Sox are going to be giving up minor leaguers. Why, after seeing how every White Sox prospect performs at the major league level when called upon, would any GM want anything to do with White Sox minor leaguers? I am starting to think people are coming around to my side of thinking!!!!!!!!!!!! Say it isn't so. I am no scout but the Sox farm system is average at best. That is it. To me they are all tradable.
  10. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jul 5, 2005 -> 10:09 AM) That's the thing, neither one of us have a great idea of what Baj will do at the major league level, because the Sox aren't giving him a chance. I don't know whether Baj will be the next Kevin Walker or the next Keith Foulke. But what I do know is that the kid keeps putting up great numbers at each level of the minor leagues, and has put up better numbers at a higher level than the kid we are calling up now. neither one of us, I agree but I am sure the Whitesox know about him. Also have you heard his name in any trade ever? Although you or I do not know about what GM's talk about, the media does suspect things, and his name is NEVER brought up.
  11. QUOTE(Chisoxrd5 @ Jul 5, 2005 -> 09:36 AM) I'm quite shocked there is no room on this team for a relief pitcher who has closed at every level and sports a 1.00 ERA. Being as I have never seen him pitch outside of the few times he pitched with the big club. They must either believe he doesnt have the stuff or the makeup to pitch in the bigs. Totally agree. I just think they do not believe in him at all. Career minor leaguer thats it.
  12. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jul 5, 2005 -> 09:16 AM) More like the Sox are so enamoured with "stuff" that they are overlooking a guy who might actually be able to "pitch". See also Jose Contreras. We will disagree on this. I just don't think he is all that great. But then again I hate minor league players. I love minor league baseball though.
  13. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Jul 5, 2005 -> 09:14 AM) Ross Gload is in Charlotte. He will have another mysterious injury setback before Timo Perez is gone. Why wouldn't he be here right now? /Red Herring Gene I agree, Ozzie has a man crush on timo, but Timo must go
  14. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jul 5, 2005 -> 08:58 AM) its become extremely obvious that Baj will not pitch for the white sox. They are going to send him elsewhere in a package, im almost sure of it at this point. He deserves a chance, and they wont give it to him. Rock, I not even sure he deserves a chance. i still contend that he is not talked about outside Soxtalk. His name just never comes up. I may be wrong, and he maybe a throw in somewhere, but he also will probably end up a career minor league pitcher. This is of course my opinion only. I have nothing against him but if he is as good as everyone on this board says he is why in the world wouldn't he be here right now? There is plenty of room for great pitchers.
  15. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jul 5, 2005 -> 08:08 AM) Bastards, this should have been Baj's call up. :fyou What more does the guy need to do to get a chance at the bigs? Hopefully he gets included in one of the deadline deals so that he can go somewhere that is willing to give him a real chance. Well I think its very telling that they didn't call him up, its as if to say he can't pitch here, plain and simple the sox don't believe in him like most of the people on this board, but I would love if he is included in a trade because that means that someone will take him and we don't have to give up someone else that has upside.
  16. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jul 5, 2005 -> 08:06 AM) http://chicago.whitesox.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb...t=.jsp&c_id=cws And what are they suppose to say? Yea we are going to get him. I still believe where there is smoke there is fire maybe a small fire now but fire. BMAC did nothing to help this along yesterday. But maybe he did enough to shut up the people who thought he was Mark Prior. BMAC needs two more years in the minors to learn how to throw three pitches for strikes, otherwise he is just another crappy minor league player.We need to get better, period. We will not sustain this ype of play throughout the playoffs and El Duque will be hurt all year.
  17. QUOTE(JimH @ Jul 5, 2005 -> 07:35 AM) Bottom line appears to be they're looking to add a starter and in my opinion, it's just a matter of when it will happen. Holy Crap, I can't resist, your really stepping out. Wow
  18. QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 4, 2005 -> 10:40 PM) The fact they called Walker back up after the Angels debacle pisses me off enough. For Ozzie to continue to use him in games with outcomes still in doubt is just ridiculous. Jim what angel debacle was that? HMMM
  19. My opinion if they were show casing BMAC tonight the trade is off. BMAC is nowhere near ready for the majors. Give him two years and start over. BMAC is just not ready to pitch in the majors, leaves the balls way up, just like minor leaguers do.
  20. QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Jul 4, 2005 -> 12:12 PM) If you plan on trading Contreras for another pitcher, forget about. You will not get an as good pitcher as Contreras if you're trading him in the same deal. Well I guess thats why we are belaboring the point. I realize Jose has great talent, but he is unreliable when he does not attack hitters, and for a veteran I really don't like that. In addition, can you imagine him pitching in the world series with the bases loaded? I can just see the wild pitch.He doesn't hold on runners, and he is completely wild with runners on base. Now I realize teams are not hitting well against him but his last few outings have been brutal. We will see, maybe we don't give up Jose but there will be a trade. No doubt in my mind. At this time this team is not good enough to win the world series. Pressure mounts.
  21. QUOTE(TheBigHurt @ Jul 4, 2005 -> 12:04 PM) I realize some people(hopefully) will agree with me, but I know realistically many won't and that's fine. But I have to say, with the trade deadline approaching, I honestly hope we could trade Contreras and get someone better. I've heard all the talk about him being consistent and doing a good job, well you will have to refresh my memory, because through the horrible outings he's had recently, I can barely remember at all. I suppose like any pitcher he might just be in a funk, but he's costing us too much while he's not been very confident or competent for that matter with this best pitches, which are what? A forkball and a fastball, neither which seem to be doing him much good as of late. I hate to say it, but I have to be honest. I think Contreras needs to go. *start discussing or flaming now* Well Hurt I compeltely agree with you but only if we can get a proven winner. I don't like trading a strong arm for just another arm. We will see. I do think soemthing is swimming in the water. I wish a trigger would be pulled soon.
  22. QUOTE(Tadahito15 @ Jun 26, 2005 -> 09:16 PM) I came to thinking about the makeup of this team for the next few years and found something I really liked. Our starting rotation. Looking to 2007, our rotation will be filthy if Kenny can somewhere pick up a #4 or better starting pitcher. Our rotation would be rediculously good. Buehrle, Garcia, Garland, ???, BMac. One more quality starter in the mix and you can easily win any game of the season assuming BMac is not a complete bust. We have lots of young guys in the field too, assuming we can hold onto them until then. Dye can be replaced by Anderson and Sweeney and Rowand and Pods are hopefully here to stay. I'm lovin this team right now, but the future looks to be possibly even sweeter. Here's to the Sox of now and the future! isn't this the rotation we have now? Therefore are we seeing 2007 today? If so, why are we looking to 2007?
  23. QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Jun 30, 2005 -> 03:29 PM) Woa!!! Wing is back. I remember being upset to lose that cat; it's nice to see him back along with our boy Stay Puff. Addison he is back because he either failed or was hurt, eitherway he is a long shot.
  24. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jun 30, 2005 -> 11:50 AM) You're so mean! Don't you know he posts here? You'll hurt his feelings. Milkman...I am just delivering!
  25. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jun 30, 2005 -> 11:33 AM) Bull isn't ready yet. and never will be
