QUOTE(Randar68 @ Jun 7, 2005 -> 04:03 PM) Pitching in Winston-Salem, are you that freaking lazy? Ya know yea I am lazy, I am actually trying to juggle finding out about which 18 year old is going to fail next while negotiating software deals for 5 million dollars over a conference call. So Ya I am a bit lazy, I am old also, and have limited time. I do try my best though.

QUOTE(Randar68 @ Jun 7, 2005 -> 04:01 PM) He's only a freshman. Very young, born in 1986. Pretty good pick at this point IMO. I agree with the guy who said there was disappointment in selecting Brooks, but that has been said about Whisler and Harrell and several others of late by the Sox who have turned out well. I'll wait until I know more, but again, that pick did NOT impress me with some of the other talent still on the board. He could have been had later. I ask again what is whisler doing?

off subject what is wes whisler doing? any good?

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jun 7, 2005 -> 01:24 PM) Veal is a southpaw that was drafted 2 years ago (I think it was 2 years back). He was thought of as one of the most talented southpaws in the draft but slid because he was pretty much a lock to go to University of Arizona. He went to UofA but his mom passed away and he ended up transferring to a junior college and has kicked ass there. Pretty good upside, imo. why did he transfer to a junior college?
-
QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jun 7, 2005 -> 01:20 PM) Oh man that would be beautiful. I remember loving Veal when we originally took him. Too bad he was a lock to go to U of A. Its really sad what happened to his mom. for those of us who don't keep up when did we draft veal? and who is he?

QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Jun 7, 2005 -> 01:10 PM) Bowden throws Sat @ Kane County if Bern can win on Friday. And I am now a Red Sox fan. so let me understnad this, if he was drafted by the Cubs would you be a Cub fan?
-
QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Jun 7, 2005 -> 01:02 PM) Actually I saw a piece on NBC with the two local kids who would go high... I thought he said he was a Sox fan, but he did say he would love to go to either team in Chicago. it was on comcast, the lefthander was the other kid and he was a sox fan.
-
tribe just picked up there second center fielder
-
QUOTE(JimH @ Jun 7, 2005 -> 12:53 PM) I expect Bowden to go off the board in the next 10-15 picks. He wants to go to the Cubs, he's a Cubs fan. 80% of chicago are cub fans. I hope he goes to the cardinals. F the cubs
-
QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Jun 7, 2005 -> 12:50 PM) have you seen him throw actually no but Comcast did a special on him the other night.
-
did the draft start up yet?
-
QUOTE(JimH @ Jun 7, 2005 -> 12:47 PM) Would love to see the White Sox snag some cathers in the next few rounds, they need it. Very thin at that position. Didn't they draft two catchers last year?
-
Hey where do you draft gurus have Mike Bowden (Local from Waubonsie Valley) going?
-
QUOTE(JimH @ Jun 7, 2005 -> 12:40 PM) Maybe and maybe not. College could net this kid a bigger payday in a couple of years. We'll see how it plays out. I do not want the White Sox playing the Boras game and am glad it didn't happen. One could also say many of these kids who did not sign with Boras are more anxious to play pro ball ... like now vs. 12 months from now. Again, who knows. off subject a bit, remember when everyone said it was a big mistake to get rid of Olivo last year. Remember when you and I said he will be nothing more than a back up catcher? Interesting that Seattle took a catcher with the third pick. Maybe its because olivo sucks. Yea thats it.
-
QUOTE(JimH @ Jun 7, 2005 -> 12:36 PM) Let them sweat it out, fine by me. Brownlie was already in college I believe, if so, different scenario than this. This Pawelek kid has a scholarship to one of the big schools ... Arizona maybe? Well Jim if he didn't want to sign to play then he would not have hired Boras.

QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Jun 7, 2005 -> 12:35 PM) You can push the probability of being traded up to 90% if the slightest notion of talent is observed. You know, because "Prospects are prospects. 86 years without a champsionship...(cliches continue)" you bet
-
QUOTE(Cerbaho-WG @ Jun 7, 2005 -> 12:33 PM) He is. He'll be a very, very difficult sign. They said the same about Bobby Brownlie, and the Cuibs got it done. Boras only can work with a few teams and the Cubs know it.
-
QUOTE(JimH @ Jun 7, 2005 -> 12:29 PM) Right after quickman meets him and gives the official seal of approval. Here is my official seal of approval. "Welcome kid, you have a 20% chance of making it to the show, you have a 70% chance of being traded, now go out there and blow your arm out."
-
even though uribe hit the ball well, he is the most un dispiplione hitter I ahve ever seen. No exaggeration. Why the hell can't harold baines teach him to be patient. Just work on it damn it. Just be patient. Side note what does Harold do anyway?

QUOTE(qwerty @ Jun 6, 2005 -> 08:38 PM) He could hit a fly ball at coors field no? totally agree. s*** it just might go out.
-
QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 6, 2005 -> 08:36 PM) Actually, in that situation, it was very important for Crede to get that runner home. With the pitcher up next, it would have likely put Pods in a situation where he had to get a 2 out hit. I don't like Crede at all, but at least he got the runner in. Now, if we can just get Garcia to stop throwing 3-1 fastballs to lefties with a righty up next, we'll be fine. I agree you need to get the runner in, and that was better than his usual strikeout, but how about gettting a hit. Lets try that next time. we will need 9 runs this game.
-
I don't know if this has been covered but we will need at least 9 runs to win this game.

Nice joe real nice. Get a life
