  1. QUOTE (joesaiditstrue @ Aug 5, 2008 -> 09:58 PM) Carrasco pitching like he wants a ring, maybe the desire will spread to everyone else on our pitching staff seriously he's pitched great since we've brought him up, if he can maintain this the rest of the year I would love to see him on the club next year i understand he's a career high-4 ERA guy, but he's pitching himself into a job IMO speaking of rings... how awesome would it be if we could get Griffey and Thome, two of the best players (on and off the field) to play the game in the past 20 years, their first ever world series rings in the same year?
  2. How sweet would it be if Big Jim just knocked one out right now?
  3. I don't see PK going anywhere. He is still on the books for 24 million, is the "team captain", and we would be trading him when his value was it's absolute lowest. I see LF, CF, RF, 1B, DH all being the same, as well as most of the pitching staff. I see a new 2B however who can leadoff (Figgins? Hudson?), Ramirez at SS, and Fields at 3B. Hopefully we could acquire someone like Chad Tracy from Arizona and have him play some 3B and 1B.
  4. QUOTE (Jimbo's Drinker @ Aug 5, 2008 -> 09:34 PM) Do we have anyone , i mean anyone at 3b in minors besides crede/Fields Getz, if you count him...
  5. Is anyone else really excited that we will now probably see Uribe starting probably 4-5 times a week now that he has been named the starter and Crede doesn't look to be returning anytime soon? God, I thought I was done seeing him be a starter for the White Sox when Alexei took his spot at 2B...
  6. I really hope the only reason why Griffey played tonight was because it was his first home game as a White "Sock". Otherwise, he should never see the field vs. another lefty starter for the rest of the season.
  7. I have a question, if we buyout Griffey's final year, can we still offer him arb. and receive comp. if he signs else where. If so, we could be looking at anywhere between 4-6 extra draft picks next year. Of course we won't be using all of them as I fully expect us to sign 1 or 2 type a or b FA's. I see us making a run at the O-Dog, however, I think he will stay in Arizona. Arizona has traded away all their 2B prospects, so that leads me to believe they will do everything in their power to keep him. I wouldn't mind seeing us bring back Garland to a 3 year contract worth anywhere between 30-40 million.
  8. If Boone was used correctly, he'd have pretty good numbers... however, Ozzie for some reason thinks he can get righties out.
  9. here comes Logan... over/under on how many runs he gives up this time?
  10. Right now, I wouldn't mind seeing Anderson playing. As much as I think BA is garbage, he can't do much worse than Swish/PK have been, and he would provide great D in center to go along with some speed. Have Anderson be our CF, move Griffey to 1B, and have PK/Swish play vs. lefties.
  11. So um, did Josh Fields have sex with Ozzie's wife or something?
  12. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 5, 2008 -> 07:51 PM) How about the fact that it seems like KW had to make a trade to find a replacement for Swisher, who he gave up 3 of his top 5 prospects for? I never want to hear KW talk about not having "$1.00" to make trades. To make things better, Gonzalez has finally found some control, and has been lights out lately. I don't think Gio will be a top of the line starter for years to come, but I think he will have a few really good seasons before his 30's.
  13. I've got the best idea here... how about we just don't suck?
  14. QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Jul 6, 2008 -> 03:13 PM) Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't Prince a FA after the year? I wonder if Melvin will pony up the cash for CC and Prince (if that's even possible). Fielder will probably get 10 per and CC will probably get anywhere from 14-19 per. ??? Fielder has only had what, 2 1/2 seasons in the pros? Unless there was some weird deal when he was drafted, he is under the Brewers control for another 3-4 years.
  15. No way the Brewers give up both Laporta and Escobar...
  16. Damn, I was looking at some minor league stats and Matt Gamel has been unbelievable this year.
  17. Anyone know how Laporta's D in the OF is? Is he any good there or is it likely he'll have to move back to 1B/DH?
  18. Quentin is a stud and all... but I think Dye deserves it more.
  19. Linebrink is a SU man, and it's silly to think of him as anything more than that. Linebrink hasn't been able to pitch the 9th inning his whole career. He just lacks the mindset for someone to close out a game.
  20. we came about a millimeter away from having to face Street in the 9th inning.
  21. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 6, 2008 -> 03:42 PM) Should Crede have made that play? Well, it was a play that could have been made. Not sure if it was error worthy though.
  22. so, can Getz participate in both the futures game and AAA all star game?
  23. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 6, 2008 -> 02:25 PM) Nice job by Thornton...I'd keep him in the game. I have no faith in Linebrink to pitch the 9th. Agreed, but I think we both know that Linebrink will be pitching in the 9th...
  24. QUOTE (Brian @ Jul 6, 2008 -> 01:11 PM) Yup, and he is still near the top of my list of baseball players I wanna punch for no reason. anyone in anyway associated with the Red Sox or Cubs is on my list of people I want to punch for no reason. This includes all their fans as well.
  25. Quentin, Dye, and Floyd are givens, IMO. If any of these 3 don't make, it is a joke, and Crede does, it's a joke. Danks, he should at the very least be on the last man ballot if not already named to the roster. Dioner Navarro, Mauer, and Pierzynski are the three best catchers in the AL. Mauer is the likely starter, and I think Navarro is gonna make it easily with all the hype the Rays have this season. Now, IIRC, there are usually 3 catchers, so that means A.J. should have a good chance as well to make the team. If not, he should be a possibility for last man as well.
