I have stated this about 12 thousand times throughout the weekend... we will regret trading DLS and Sweeney the most.
-
QUOTE(KevinM @ Jan 6, 2008 -> 11:24 AM) Yes, I am sure they wanted Sweeney more than DLS. Please. Harold Reynolds stated that the piece the A's wanted most was Ryan Sweeney. Maybe he's a liar, I don't know.

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jan 6, 2008 -> 12:29 PM) Thankfully its not filled with my crazy opinions, that is all. so I'm not allowed to have opinions on baseball is what your saying?
-
QUOTE(JFields27 @ Jan 6, 2008 -> 02:46 AM) idk where you get your fun facts .. but ill make up mine .. fun fact .. Oakland didnt want to trade Swisher. Kenny had to pay a bargain to even hear if we could get swisher. Its like getting those japanese players you have to pay to talk to them and then pay to sign them. Kenny couldnt have bough his B game to the table to get swisher, I assume he called BB and threw something out that was very similar, if not the exact trade that happened for Swisher Maybe Harold Reynolds is a liar, I don't know.

QUOTE(longshot7 @ Jan 6, 2008 -> 02:28 AM) sigs are lame. cool, then why do you have one?
-
QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jan 6, 2008 -> 01:04 AM) Sweeney was our #8 prospect. Fun fact... Sweeney was the guy Oakland wanted more then anyone else... Believe it or not, but he still has loads of potential.

QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jan 6, 2008 -> 01:20 AM) So from 1 inning of work, in which he struck out 2, walked 1, and gave up a HR, we've concluded he has some of the nastiest stuff in all of baseball and is a future ace...hmmm. Quick note: just from memory off the top of my head, Franklin Morales was the best pitcher in that game. It doesn't take much to see if someone has a live arm or not, and De Los Santos' had the livest arm at the game. -
QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jan 5, 2008 -> 11:34 PM) You pull out the tape-measurer for that one? Just messing with ya. I actually did. Well, it was a ruler sitting by my desk, not a tape measurer. But close enough.

I don't care, make fun of me all you want. People called me crazy a couple years ago for wanting Teahan over Crede, we all saw how that turned out... granted it was on a different board. -

QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Jan 5, 2008 -> 09:28 PM) Really? From having seen him pitch one time? just for comparison's sake De Los Santos - 2007 - 122.1 IP, 2.65 ERA, 0.92 WHIP, 11.3 K/9, 3.2 BB/9, 3.6 K/BB, 0.6 HR/9 between A and A+ Mystery pitcher - recently - 139.1 IP, 2.52 ERA, 0.92 WHIP, 12.9 K/9, 2.8 BB/9, 4.5 K/BB, 0.5 HR/9, between A, A+, and AA Mystery pitcher threw more innings, had a better ERA, allowed the same amount of baserunners, exhibited better stuff, better control, allowed homers at a better rate, and did so over 3 levels, though he only threw 12 innings at AA. Do you really think people consider Yusmeiro Petit to be a future ace? Oh wow, they had similar stats. OMG, wow, that is amazing... I don't give a s***. Petit is a nice guy to have in the rotation and someone I can see being a no. 3, but DLS was much more raw and put up those stats with only 2 pitches. With good coaching and the addition of a changeup, DLS will be an ace. Plain and simple. He has close to the best stuff in all of the minors. -
QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jan 5, 2008 -> 09:17 PM) I guess the new thing is put all your crazy opinions in your sig and make it annoyingly large. That's funny because by measurement your signature takes up more space then mine.
-
QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Jan 5, 2008 -> 09:38 PM) That'd be nice. The uneducated, foolish, always negative posts would drop two-fold. Nice, so we've gotten to the point of personal attacks? Yep, I'm uneducated. I know nothing about baseball.

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jan 5, 2008 -> 07:16 PM) Right now its most likely he will end up in the pen. based on what? -
I have a question... is there any way we can trade Dye or is his value so low that we wouldn't get much in return?

QUOTE(lostfan @ Jan 5, 2008 -> 06:39 PM) We should've given $100M to Hunter and $350M to A-Rod, just for good measure, no way they could've refused that. Next year we should throw $200M at Johan Santana. But KW won't give all that money to free agents, so he sucks, and we will suck. Geez dude, I thought I was overly critical of KW sometimes, I mean damn. Free agency is the only realistic way we can get better. We don't have any major trading options in our farm or anyone who can make an impact. Believe me, if I had it my way, we'd be like the Dodgers having several prospects to decide to call up or trade. -
QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jan 5, 2008 -> 06:35 PM) I'm hoping for a minor miracle cause I'd be so exstatic about that type of trade. WIth that sort of deal Kenny will have pretty much completely overhauled the team, making it young, faster, better, and more complete. Our pitching would still suck, but better, and that would an hell of a lineup... 1. Figgins, CF 2. Cabrera, SS 3. Swisher, 1B 4. Thome, DH 5. Dye, RF 6. Kendrick, 2B 7. Fields, 3B 8. Pierzynski, C 9. Quentin, LF Only problem I would have his Dye as I think his line from last year is what we should expect from now on. He has lost a lot of bat speed in just 1 year.

QUOTE(RudyLawRules @ Jan 5, 2008 -> 04:09 PM) Does everyone have a friend in a MLB front office? lol. From Rockabilly on WSI... Now, if it's that trade, I have no problem with it.

People are starting to think I hate this trade because of Sweeney being gone. While I will miss Sweeney as I was a huge fan of his, I hate this trade because we gave up a future ace, yes ace, in DLS. -

QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ Jan 5, 2008 -> 06:15 PM) And anybody in the Swisher trade would have been? Excluding the monster stats Sweeney will put up this year of course. DLS will be. We will regret trading him for a long time. Pitchers with his stuff just don't grow on trees. -

QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jan 5, 2008 -> 06:10 PM) John Sickels and ZIPS have high opinions of Egbert, and I'm guessing KW does too. I like Egbert too... but he ain't no top teir prospect who will be lights out when he comes to the bigs. -

QUOTE(JFields27 @ Jan 5, 2008 -> 06:04 PM) anyways thats a bold prediction in your sig and im 100% sure your going to wrong. Damn, I didn't know the grammar nazis were in town this weekend... Excuse me, Chamberlin. Wait, I forgot the a before the i. Chamberlain. Sometimes I type fast without thinking about the spelling. Sorry if I don't live up to your standards. -

QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ Jan 5, 2008 -> 05:55 PM) Brian Anderson, might be the best defensive replacement in all of the minor leagues right now. key word, I said good. -
Santana is garbage. He just isn't that good. He's no better then either Floyd or Danks... maybe Contreras, but he's a senior citizen by now, and the team is gonna keep him no matter what due to his salary.

QUOTE(lostfan @ Jan 5, 2008 -> 05:48 PM) lol I don't care what sport you're talking about, that is a thoroughly retarded approach to running a franchise unless you have unlimited resources like the Yankees, and even then it's not necessarily the best option. Then how will we compete? By trading some prospects for major league players? That's a nice theory when you actually have prospects other teams would want to trade for... how how about we bring up some prospects who can contribute a la Joba Champerlin? Oh wait, we don't have any good prospects who we could call up and make a difference. -

QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Jan 5, 2008 -> 05:46 PM) Just for clarification on your sig prediction, since the Central has more teams than the West... Are you only betting on the standings or overall records? There are 14 teams in the american league. All of them are in the standings. Of those 14 teams, I am predicting that the A's will finish higher then then the White Sox in the overall American League standings.
