  1. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Feb 1, 2008 -> 10:01 PM) You can remove that Santana dude. Sheets, Garland, and CC seem to be the only ones on there who actually would be worth even thinking about. man, it would be nice to snatch CC away from Cleveland.
  2. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Feb 2, 2008 -> 05:30 AM) I really dont think having 3 lefties is a problem. Not 2 mention that Danks is far from a sure thing at this point.... But yeah, I have personally always been a huge Perez fan and would love having him on the southside. same here... when he was with the Pirates and got demoted to AAA, I was praying that KW would take a flier on him for cheap.
  3. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Feb 1, 2008 -> 12:34 PM) Do you have any basis for that, or are you just throwing darts at a wall again? I have never been impressed with him and think major league pitching will dominate him.
  4. One crazy prediction, which really isn't all that crazy when you take into account how many top prospects fail, is that Evan Longoria will be a garbage major leaguer.
  5. QUOTE(Alpha Dog @ Jan 31, 2008 -> 09:13 AM) My 2 mutts! Both are rescued. The older one was beaten by her former owner and had wine stains on her feet and legs, the younger one was found abandoned in a barn. Adoption is the way to go. I will say that you CAN get bad dogs thru adoption, as we did have one attempt that didn't work out so well many years ago, but we have have had 3 successfull ones. that is true. My brother adopted a dog once that had rage, and he had to be put down... sad, as it was a nice dog a lot of the time, but just went crazy at times. however, along with my airedale, we have an adopted dog and she is a great dog.
  6. QUOTE(Pants Rowland @ Jan 31, 2008 -> 05:51 PM) If it makes you feel any better, the only other product from the White Sox system was DLS (i.e. no sweeney, no cunningham, no carter, no gio). Maybe the Sox did not give up that much for Swisher after all. more like ESPN is pretty much all idiots.
  7. Rumors are that there is a MVP LEGENDS game slated to come out in June, similar to what 2K did with All-Pro Football. That'd be kinda cool but I'm still disappointed that they are scrapping (or just taking a year off) of the MVP NCAA series. Hopefully with ESPN supposedly set to have around 30 or so hours of college baseball aired each week, EA will see that there is a bigger market then they thought.
  8. watching those videos of MLB 2k8, it does look pretty sweet. The pitching looks fun and it finally seems they got the fielding down (fielding sounds to be exactly like MVP NCAA)... I just wonder what the hitting will be like. I hope it will be like MVP NCAA. They made that hitting style great.
  9. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jan 30, 2008 -> 06:27 PM) Ideally you don't put a career .321 OBP guy in the leadoff spot either. true... that's why we still need a leadoff hitter.
  10. QUOTE(Mplssoxfan @ Jan 30, 2008 -> 10:51 AM) Um, MacArthur was far from the greatest general of the 20th century. Anyone else would have been cashiered after the debacle in the Philippines on December 8, 1941. I disagree, but really don't feel like getting into a history/political debate today... lets just agree to disagree for now.
  11. Swisher isn't a leadoff hitter. You don't put a power hitter, who does get on base, but hits for a low average, as your leadoff hitter.
  12. Truman was a bad president and a goof ball... after all, he did fire the greatest military general of the 20th century.
  13. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jan 29, 2008 -> 07:08 PM) That all depends on how your scouts rate Phil Hughes. I'd rate him better then all 3 pitchers the Twins got from the Mets combined, and better then all 4 of the players the Twins got.
  14. If I were the Twins, I would have rather had the Yankees offer from a while back.
  15. I'm still not sold on MLB 2k8, their previous 2 games have sucked balls. But hopefully what's his face (guy who turned MVP into the greatest baseball game ever, who's name I forget) works some more magic in year 2 with 2k8.
  16. If all it takes for Cain is Crede, Anderson, and someone like Egbert or Broadway... oh mama.
  17. QUOTE(lvjeremylv @ Jan 28, 2008 -> 08:09 PM) Say what you will about our GM, but he's not afraid to make moves. I applaud that - too many GMs in sports are too busy sitting on their hands while their teams are missing the playoffs year in and year out. KW isn't afraid to shake things up and try different things, and I think that's good in the long run. It can be frustrating at times, though, that's for sure. He isn't afraid to make a move, but more then once has that move been a bonehead one.
  18. QUOTE(Markbilliards @ Jan 28, 2008 -> 12:09 AM) My fiance and I have been discussing the possibility of getting a dog in about a year. We are looking for a dog that can fit most of this criteria: 1) Will be ok in an apartment/no backyard 2) 40-70 pounds 3) Will be ok if given 4-5 walks/runs a week (1.5-2 miles per walk) 4) Very social/affectionate dog, the kind that would cuddle with my wife 5) Short-medium hair 6) Good with strangers and children 7) And this one is low on the priority list, but a dog that likes playing in the water If anyone has any suggestions on what breed to get through your own experience I'd enjoy hearing them. Sounds like you need an airedale terrier. I have one and he is a great dog that pretty much fits the criteria you are looking for. 1) I have a backyard, and my dog loves running around out there, but he spends plenty of time indoors, and plays and has a lot fun in doors as well. 2) Mine is a bit oversized at 72 pounds (not overweight, just really big and muscular), but the average size I believe is about 50-60. 3) Mine goes for a nice long walk every single night and loves each one. 4) Airedales are generally very playful and affectionate, and mine is no exception. He loves getting pets and getting attention. 5) Airedales have short-medium wirey hair, with no shedding. 6) I can't speak for all Airedales, but mine loves to meet new people and get attention from them. At times, he might be too friendly. 7) Mine is a rarety and hates water (loves snow), but Airedales are excellent swimmers and most terriers love water anyway. Plus, Airedales were originally bred to hunt otters. Plus, they make for fine watch dogs. If this bred intrigues you at all, I highly suggest checking out the wikipedia page below. If you have any other questions, feel free to ask. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Airedale_Terrier
  19. QUOTE(SoxFanForever @ Jan 28, 2008 -> 01:47 PM) Has anyone used the wireless ethernet adapter for 360 yet? I was thinking about getting one instead of running a long cable through my house. Any thoughts on them? I heard they suck... I think you should look somewhere else for a wireless adapter. I have a linksy's one that is especially made for video games. Works perfectly and it's like there is a wire connected from my gaming system to my modem when I use it. It plugs directly into the ethernet plug as well. I'd suggest something like that.
  20. Thinking about this trade some more, Cain/Lincecum are highly unlikely. We would be able to get a good deal though because Sabean ain't very smart. I personally, would love a Jonathan Sanchez, Fred Lewis/someone else, and a decent prospect for Crede and Anderson deal.
  21. I wouldn't mind getting Dan Ortmeier in any deal involving Crede to the Giants. IIRC, Ortmeier was previously drafted by the White Sox, but did not sign. He doesn't have much plate discipline and doesn't hit for average, but he's get some very good pop and is a switch hitter. But, he's out of options, so I don't see the fit, unless as a bench/situational player to backup at 1st, left and right... which will likely be his role in the majors anyway.
  22. QUOTE(Felix @ Jan 28, 2008 -> 07:07 PM) I never thought I'd live to see the day where you'd be applauding a move that KW made. I'm impressed. this was a no brainer... KW does indeed makes moves I like, but he makes a lot that I despise as well.
  23. QUOTE(Benchwarmerjim @ Jan 27, 2008 -> 06:47 PM) The most logical thing is to have Delmon in RF, Cuddy in LF, this Pridie guy that we got in the Delmon trade in CF and Kubel/Monroe platoon DH. Then again, in the Johan proposed trades, they might get a CFer so I think right now, its just guesswork. I think the Cuddy in CF thing was just Gardenhire throwing things out there. any chance Cuddyer moves back to 3B?
  24. I really like the deal... Sounds like this Mota guy has a live arm. 2 pitching prospects (even if they aren't great) for Aardsma is a very good deal.
  25. Nice to see that Colon is so all high and mighty with his mid 80's fastball and overweight belly.
