haha, I made a grammar mistake. I'm sorry, I wrote series instead of serious. It happens. Also, anyone who thinks a Konerko for Figgins and Santana trade is good value, you must be goofy. A guy coming off of a career year and a garbage pitcher. Sorry, that package just doesn't excite me enough.

White Sox Acquire Nick Swisher from Athletics
BearSox replied to Steve9347's topic in Pale Hose Talk
My love affair with Ryan Sweeney has nothing to do with the direction this team is going in. The only way this team can compete in the near future is by spending loads of money in FA and as we all have seen, Kenny Williams in unwilling to do that. Swisher is a nice player, but he isn't a FHOF and he isn't Miguel Cabrera. Look at all the good teams in baseball, all of them have good farm systems, except the Tigers now, but they got Cabrera and a pitching staff. The only way we will compete in 2008 is if we average at least 5-6 runs per game. -
QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ Jan 5, 2008 -> 05:32 PM) ... and you will quit posting too? Nah, I couldn't stay away. I would just sulk a lot and pretty much become the "emo kid" on here.

QUOTE(JFields27 @ Jan 5, 2008 -> 05:31 PM) That sucks sounds like your gonna miss a fun season, win or lose. Maybe you could be an Oakland A's fan though, you can talk about how good their minors are and have fun cheering on what they call their team. A's are gonna be fun to watch. I love seeing young talent develop. Like the Marlins 2 years ago, they were hell of a lot of fun to watch.

I'm series, if Kenny makes a Konerko for Santana and Figgins trade, I am done as a White Sox fan until after we finish behind the royals and Kenny Williams dumbass is fired.

QUOTE(GreatScott82 @ Jan 5, 2008 -> 08:57 AM) Obviously trading Sweeney, Gio and DSL hurts our chances of adding a super starter like Bedard... do you guys think we still have enough in the system to get him? Would you guys trade Danks, Egbert and Uribe for him? WOuld it cost more?? Do you guys even think KW is going after another SP? Our farm is so bad right now, that even if we offered any choice of 10-15 minor leaguers in our system to the Orioles for Bedard, the deal would likely never happen, because our prospects are garbage.

I love it... people complain how we have no prospects and then we go and trade our 3 best prospects, everyone then goes, well their just prospects. LMAO.

QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Jan 5, 2008 -> 03:27 PM) You sound like a little kid who has lost his teddy bear. Maybe more like a disgruntled fan who hates the direction this team is going in. -
QUOTE(TheBigHurt @ Jan 5, 2008 -> 01:22 AM) That's right. I forgot, that stuff doesn't mean anything. Most posters here are convinced there are only "flukes" when good players actually rise above what many people thought they were capable of, and they are delusional a lot of the time. Aaron Rowand is certainly proof. People here often see nothing but negativity, even overlooking or underrating our own players. Crede is no God, but he's a gold glove caliber 3B. what does that have to do with his hitting?
-
QUOTE(TheBigHurt @ Jan 5, 2008 -> 01:07 AM) "Good D?" LOL. As far as hitting, I suppose I can agree there, although since the stretch of 2005 he has proven he can hit. or just have a career year.

QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jan 5, 2008 -> 12:59 AM) Interesting that that is pretty much the opposite of everyone else's opinion? Most people are upset about losing Gio, and not quite as much about losing DLS/Sweeney. At least thats what I gather. there's gotta be a reason why you are traded 3 times in 3 years. I like Gio, but I'd keep DLS over him in a heartbeat. DLS's stuff, from what I have seen, is much superior. -

QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Jan 4, 2008 -> 09:46 PM) And hitting .270 in Charlotte. What a great swing. Make fun now, but we will regret trading him and DLS... Gio, I can live with getting traded. -
thank you very much sir.

QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Jan 4, 2008 -> 07:34 PM) So my 360 is starting to have disc read errors. What makes it bad is it doesn't happen right away, but during a game. I was in the 4th quarter of an NBA game, and it got the error. I know its not the game either, because it did it with the version I rented, and when I just bought the game( different disc) it did the same thing. Any suggestions? (Not buy a PS3) buying a PS3 is the best video game decision you could make.

QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jan 4, 2008 -> 09:00 PM) If you were one of the main reasons the White Sox won a World Series, any World Series, fans would be willing to love you a lot too. I don't see this type of love for Konerko, Dye, Garland, Garcia, etc. The only two people who come near the amount of homerism love Crede gets is Buehrle and Rowand.

QUOTE(Brian @ Jan 4, 2008 -> 09:02 PM) Like Jeremy Reed? No matter how good or bad Sweeney becomes, he was never going to get a chance here. Like Brian Anderson won't. Jeremy Reed's swing is nothing compared to Ryan's. -
anyone know how many former White Sox prospects we have in Oakland right now? I know they have Marshall, Wing(right?), Cunningham, Carter, Sweeney, De Los Santos, and Gonzalez... anyone know the rest if there are any? I ask this because I want to keep tabs on them throughout spring training and next season. Thanks for any help.

QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jan 4, 2008 -> 08:57 PM) Yeah, it's not like that park will further hurt his power potential or anything. Maybe the won't try to stick him out of position there. Yeah, I told him to lose the necklace a long time ago. Am I the only one who hates trading lefties with natural swings and loads of potential? -
If Konerko is traded for a package of Figgins and Santana, I think I would be done with this team.

Ryan Sweeney will tear it up in Oakland, you can bank on that. -
QUOTE(TheBigHurt @ Jan 4, 2008 -> 05:53 PM) Uribe? Sure, although I don't necessarily see why his weight is such a big deal. Otherwise, I laugh and always will laugh at people who call Joe Crede overrated. He is. He has proven he is an average hitter at best who plays good D. Everyone in baseball sees he is an average player except many sox fans for some reason.

QUOTE(scenario @ Jan 4, 2008 -> 06:15 PM) Here's an interesting comparison (2007 numbers) Player G A-B Hits 2B HR RBI BBs SOs AVG OBP SLG OPS One 162 628 174 34 24 78 101 155 .277 .390 .462 .852 Two 150 539 141 36 22 78 100 131 .262 .381 .455 .836 Player One = Grady Sizemore Player Two = Nick Swisher hmm, nice number comparison except for the fact Sizemore is putting up those numbers as a leadoff hitter and Swisher as a middle of the order guy. I see you forgot to mention that Sizemore is 1-2 years younger, has much more speed, plays a whole lot better defense, and is much better with RISP. Whoever said it, if it was Gio, DLS, and Sweeney for Sizemore I would be jumping in joy because Sizemore is 10x the ballplayer Swisher is. -

Nick Swisher and Grady Sizemore shouldn't even be in the same sentence. -
QUOTE(TheBigHurt @ Jan 4, 2008 -> 05:31 PM) Don't we still have Crede and Uribe as bargaining chips? ooh, an overweight SS who barely hits his weight and a an overrated 3B who is coming off of pretty big back surgery... yeah, they wouldn't net us much, if anything.
