He's not gonna go for that. He's making $5 million this season and he has improved on D while consistent at the plate since he switched to strictly lefty status. He's gonna want a similar deal for 2 years, or $6 million. I think he'll stay for the same 5 though.

I like the sound of it to some extent because we wouldn't have to give NEARLY as much as we did for him the first time around, however wasn't he the one talking to Twins players during a series last August saying, "good luck in the playoffs. We don't wanna be there..."

Honestly, when have the Cubs ever traded for an all-star the caliber of a Nomar during midseason? Fred McGriff at age 38? It ain't gonna happen, but if it does, they would probably trade Clement and have just as big a stopgap at the #5 spot in the rotation as we did (or still do really with Scotty). Then again, Rusch did pitch the game of his life against us. I'd laugh if that was why they make the trade.

PetCo is state-of-the-art. Quit a change from the dump Qualcomm had become over the years. Only been to two games though, and both were losses against the Cubs. It was actually very hard getting tickets to that or any game for that matter.

I still stick by my guns and say....Garland should have started Wednesday's game against Anaheim on a normal 4 days rest, not that f***ing scrub Scottie. He was going against his old team that knew him fairly well, and GArland was coming off his best outing of the season. Tonight he has his second best outing of the year no doubt, but say he won Wednesday and we ended up taking 2 of 3 from the Angels, Scottie would then have had an extra 2 days of rest and face a weaker hitting lineup. Who else thought that was a dumb move by Ozz? He hasn't had many, but I questioned that move before the game even started.

Matheny could be waived, and I agree with whoever said he'd be a decent enough pickup.

He injured his ankle running the bases on June 17th. That is (as they say) the main cause for his horrid slump since then (like 4 for 34). Now they discovered he's got some chips loose in that ankle. 4-6 weeks. NOT good.
