  1. I'm shocked this is in Texas. But it will stop people from breaking into houses. Swift justice and all.
  2. I wonder if this was MLB, and not the United States of America, going after players, which end they would have started, if they would have started at all. Even Bonds rejects the I cheated because everyone else did defense. He had a chance to come clean, and didn't. Clearly he knew he was using. Clearly he was the greatest player to use.
  3. QUOTE(Steff @ Nov 16, 2007 -> 12:50 PM) It's not quite that. I can't put my finger on it. And of course no one else can smell it. As you have no doubt noticed all your senses are heightened. You may try a dehumidifier. You could also call out a mold remediation company like Service Master or Serv Pro. We have seen plenty of this in Texas. Good news is your home owners policy probably covers it.
  4. QUOTE(YASNY @ Nov 16, 2007 -> 12:40 PM) Yes. the CIA should stay out of that crap too. As far as trade goes, isn't that just financial dealings? We shouldn't negotiate on a financial basis with other nations? We shouldn't fund campaigns in other countries based on trade policies. We have done this privately and publicly. The US meddles in foreign campaigns more than any other country, mostly because we have the resources to. Earlier someone criticized a US candidate for not knowing about health care in Cuba and his opinion. We'll ask our leaders how will the elections in XYZ country effect relationships between them and the US, which candidate is pro-US, etc. Yet when it is in reverse, that a foreign leader is asked about US elections, which will effect the entire world, the foreign leader should not have an opinion?

QUOTE(NUKE @ Nov 16, 2007 -> 12:44 PM) One way to stop drug smuggling quickly is to simply execute anyone caught smuggling narcotics on the spot. If they know they will be killed for their trouble if caught they will abandon their efforts in a big hurry. I see you are picking up some ideas from Iraq. Excellent. I believe this was Saddam's method.
  6. When the feds give you immunity if you tell the truth, and then you lie, that reaches farther than just baseball. Remember this is a real world case, not something that baseball is doing. They gave him immunity, yet he still lied. Nice character. Yet, to some people, he is their hero. Sad.
  7. QUOTE(Soxbadger @ Nov 15, 2007 -> 11:43 PM) Texsox, I dont care that he used steroids because I believe many other MLB players used steroids at the same time and you can only compare Bonds to the players of his era. Then why publish a rules book? Nice ethics. I suppose you follow that creed in your own life? Cheat any chance you get? That is so sad.
  8. QUOTE(YASNY @ Nov 16, 2007 -> 09:44 AM) I find it odd that the leader of another nation should have any say so about our nations immigration policies and discussion of those policies among our candidates. Which is why I always protested the CIA getting involved in elections around the world. Or we would press foreign countries for more favorable trade policies.

I hope we can provide a way for the farmers and ranchers to get to the river for their irrigation. Thousands of farms depend on their irrigation pumps for their livelihood. It will also likely kill many animals who also depend on the river for drinking water. It's funny, we build that same fence to keep in a thousand inmates, add guards at a 10:1 ration, and yet they still escape. I guess this fence is better. It will probably stop the drug smuggling also. I'm certain all the street drugs through Mexico will dry up in no time, which is a boom to both sides.
  10. Oh the weather up north is frightful In Texas, it's so delightful As long as I'm way down here Let it Snow! Let it Snow! Let it Snow!
  11. Sent from a friend of mine Yesterday I was buying a large bag of Purina dog chow for Athena the wonder dog at Wal-Mart and was about to check out.[/color] A woman behind me asked if I had a dog. What did she think I had, an elephant? So since I'm retired, with little to do, on impulse, I told her that no, I didn't have a dog, and that I was starting the Purina Diet again. I said I probably shouldn't, because I'd ended up in the hospital last time, but that I'd lost 50 pounds before I awakened in an intensive care ward with tubes coming out of most of my orifices and IVs in both arms. I told her that it was essentially a perfect diet and that the way that it works is to load your pants pockets with Purina nuggets and simply eat one or two every time you feel hungry and that the food is nutritionally complete so I was going to try it again. (I have to mention here that practically everyone in the line was by now enthralled with my story.) Horrified , she asked if I ended up in intensive care because the dog food poisoned me. I told her no; I stepped off a curb to sniff an Irish Setter's butt and a car hit us both. I thought the guy behind her was going to have a heart attack, he was laughing so hard! WAL-MART won't let me shop there anymore!!!

QUOTE(Alpha Dog @ Nov 16, 2007 -> 07:10 AM) Except thiers was to keep people in. I am glad you believe in such openness. Why don't you also remove the front door to your house as well. And leave your car unlocked. After all, we wouldn't want to be stopping people from going where they aren't supposed to. What's the difference? How go you construct a fence that only stops people one way? Do not forget to stop tourists and students from coming here as well.
  13. QUOTE(Alpha Dog @ Nov 15, 2007 -> 10:10 PM) As usual, you are so way over the top it almost isn't humorous. Your point is noted. But don't you find something just a little odd about a country that b****es constantly that we should let their immingrants into our country restriction free, but yet goes to Tex-like extremes at keeping immigrants OUT of their country, including using the military on their southern border? I always spell this wrong, but hypocracy comes to mind. I find it odd that anyone would think that the laws of the US and a third world country should be the same. Each country has different needs, different budgets. In Mexico, maquiladoras (manufacturing plants) are required to provide transportation, a Doctor, and meals. It's what they need, it would not work in the US. One could say the US is hypocritical for providing foreign aid like food and medicine but will not enact laws to provide the same for their own workers.
  14. We should follow Mexico's leads. They did not authorize a border wall, so we shouldn't either. They also ban guns, so we should also. Who cares what is best of the US, we need to pattern our laws after Mexico's laws. Clearly they are a great role model for us.

QUOTE(max power @ Nov 15, 2007 -> 08:28 PM) Will tori hunter be an all star caliber CF in 4 years? Possibly not, but if the All-Star caliber guys are making $21 mil per year, Hunter may look like a bargain at $15. You know the reasoning, someone will say I I'd rather take Hunter at $15 than ABC at $21

In four years, what will all-star center fielders be making?
  17. QUOTE(Soxbadger @ Nov 15, 2007 -> 05:51 PM) Did you even read the link: Indictments come at the drop of a hat. I guess the Black Sox were convicted no questions asked because they had an indictment against them. Oh wait no they didnt. http://www.everything2.com/index.pl?node_id=1446555 A lot of people are going to be sad when Bonds is not guilty, whats funny is none of the legal experts on ESPN seem to think that its such a slam dunk. Most are saying its a hard conviction and very strange it took so long, and that relying entirely on Anderson may be risky. Do you even care that he has used steroids?
  18. Funny that some people do not care he's guilty, only if he can be convicted.
  19. QUOTE(sox4lifeinPA @ Nov 15, 2007 -> 05:23 PM) (my poem: inspired by jim and his clearly LSD induced poem about finding love in all the wrong places) this I'd expect from Southsider or the Kap(tain) but I must admit it got me a-laughin' The more I did think, the label was never fitter It's like having first try at the pick of the litter... Indeed there are many things that people can mutter but 'tis as they say, "there goes Jim, the pumpkin Fu#$er"
  20. So many thoughts. First off, if ex-cons cannot get jobs, they will commit more crimes. So in general I support hiring ex-cons. But I also believe making an "error" on your application should be an immediate adios, you're fired.
  21. QUOTE(Soxbadger @ Nov 15, 2007 -> 04:35 PM) Convict. We have things like the pound etc to take care of stray animals. If we let people just start shooting cats, dogs, etc, where does it end? It is legal in Texas to shoot ferel cats. Just like shooting hogs, deer, javelinas, coyotes, doves, geese, and other animals.
  22. It just gives the Bond's apologists more to apology for. Go away Mr. Bonds.

QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Nov 15, 2007 -> 03:57 PM) As White Sox fans, I think we are pretty used to this. Money is a big factor even though the White Sox have spent more money than most teams. One bad move makes a bigger difference for the White Sox than for other teams. Just think of Matt Clement. Many here thought he was a perfect fit for the White Sox in 2005, and supposedly the Sox made a competitive offer. If he would have accepted, chances are there wouldn't have been playoffs in 2005 let alone a title, and revenues would have been very different. This team would look a lot different just because of that one move. It does take some of the excitement out of it, but it also shows that spending the money can pay off in the long run if it brings a winner. Who would have thunk 3 years ago the White Sox could put a team on the field that lost 90 games and still drew nearly 3 million. And how do we know that not spending a couple million stopped the 2000 team? It's an impossible argument, based on a huge unknown to the fan, how much could the team actually spend. And I don't think one bad move hurts the Sox more than other teams. Clearly the team can afford a payroll in the top 20% of MLB teams. It's the teams with a $60 mil payroll that can't make mistakes.
