Mercy I'll play. I believe they said they are using roadkills or strays. But that doesn't matter much to my point. We euthanize dogs and cats by the thousands every day in American because people allow their pets to breed but don't want the puppies and kittens. We systematically and institutionally slaughter millions of cows, pigs, chickens, and fish every month. Read the label on dog food. Made with real chicken, 100% pure beef. So we slaughter a chicken to feed the dog, but slaughtering the dog to catch a shark is wrong? Why does the chicken or cow have a higher moral value than the dog? Interesting isn't it? The one person here who I believe has a strong moral platform to condem this practice is ChiSoxy, who hates plants so much she only eats plants, no animal meat. Mercy, if you are also a vegetarian, I must bow out of this game and concede your point. But any carnivore has little room to complain.

Could the Sox have an "Angels effect" on Chicago?
Texsox replied to Greg Hibbard's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Hmmm, we proudly say we don't go out to support a crappy team, then complain about bandwagon jumpers when the team wins? Anyone else see some irony in this? There are pockets or groups of fans to swing. The family who attends a mlb game every year, looks at the family schedule to pick the game and couldn't tell which Chicago Lee is who. They may or may not switch to the Sox. Some may be scared to drive to a different stadium in a different area of the city. The big prize is the business entertainment group. Make the Sox the place to be and salespeople are lining up to take their customers to games. That's the treasure box Brooks would like to open. The weekday businesss crowd, buying the good seats, spending the companies dollar. The hard core base may increase by a few faces, but the guy just buying some tickets would be a nice bump. -
Dump Kenny and Ozzie and use the money to fill holes

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Oct 17, 2005 -> 03:43 PM) s***, I will send some copies to people, 10 bucks is a f***in rip off. Actually it really isn't. Shipping is going to run $3 - $5 and the newspaper itself must be $2 by now. $5 to package, collect the money, etc. sounds about right. Sucks when you're out of town.

Download the games from mlb.com Check with your local mega-book store. The Barnes and Noble here carries the Tribune and the Sun-Times as well as most out of market newspapers.

2005 Soxtalk Hall of Fame Balloting

Actually when we do the annual Soxtalk Readers Awards, I am certain the Rally Crede will be thread of the year. Out doing the Soxtalk Photoshop Contest. -
QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Oct 17, 2005 -> 05:09 PM) He is no sox fan. he isnt fan of any team. He shouldn't be a fan. If you just want happy news from fans and the company, read here and the official club annoucnements. There are never any problems, every team we field is a world series contender. Chicago has had so many homers and journalists who kiss the owners asses for free hotdogs and tickets that we think that is the norm. Mariotti isn't dumb and tweaks the Sox noses and gets great publicity and readership. I was told last year that his anti-sox articles generate 4x as many hits as any other articles. He is also the most hit Sun-Times sports columnist. So business is good for Jay when he takes a poke at JR and Co.

QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Oct 17, 2005 -> 02:48 PM) Can you post what snopes says? I cant link it at work, apparently it has been deemed "graphic" by the moderators of my office network that is some of it!

Welcome to Soxtalk. If you are a White Sox fan looking for a new home, where maybe your old home made you feel too old or like a baby in kindergarten getting spanked, you will have a good time here. If you are a fan of another MLB team, welcome again. We don't allow personal attacks, or trolling, so feel free to post intelligent thoughts and you will be fine. We especially like to hear from opponent fans with class and dignity. We don't have an official post who you are thread, but since we have so many new people, we could use this one for a while.

Getting banned from WSI is like getting tossed from a Rush street bar, like who hasn't? No personal attacks, no nudity, no making fun of Texas, and you will be fine. And Steff may be doable, but it's not what you think.

QUOTE(TheBigHurt @ Oct 17, 2005 -> 03:50 PM) You should change your closer's name. K-Rod no longer really fits. You should call him W-Rod now How about NO W-Rod

QUOTE(Steff @ Oct 17, 2005 -> 02:59 PM) Anyone know if some pro teams suspend season ticket holders for scalping their tickets... ? I've heard it so many times.. but wonder if it's just urban legend. During the Bulls run, the guys that had ten seats in front of me were three times threatened with losing their seats. Two of the instances were when they had guests sitting there. Greg brought the letters and asked us to respond and get the heat off them. But at the time the Bulls could have sold twice as many tickets to every game. I've heard the same stories about scalping. Since the Sox do not sell out season tickets, like the Bulls, I think it's Urban Legend. They may bump you back, but I doubt they would stop selling to you. Plus you could also have someone be a puppet and buy them for you.

QUOTE(Beetle @ Oct 17, 2005 -> 03:21 PM) Glad to hear that. Amid all the flack the Marlins get over their lukewarm attendance figures (a long story, believe me), I like to think that the phrase "quality over quantity" applies here. The fanbase is still growing, but the fans we have now are generally amicable and fairly knowledgeable. You want to talk attendance woes?? We have a team on the other side of the city that draws 2,000,000 to watch the clouds drift by while talking on their cell phones and getting wasted. Then a few baseball fans show up to really inflate the numbers. Y'all have a great franchise, as many WS Championships as teams that have been around 100 more years.

QUOTE(YASNY @ Oct 17, 2005 -> 11:36 AM) Carl sits in the NL park. No brainer. Unless Ozzie has to make a pitching change and needs a pitch batter. Carl would probably be the first bat out of the dugout.

We are arriving with everyone healthy and rested. The Astros aren't going to lay down, they can be beat, and they can beat. There will be some great matchups. I'm hoping they play a couple more before deciding a winner.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Oct 17, 2005 -> 11:12 AM) Can you grab hold of a rainbow and put it into your pocket? NO, Such is the Rally Crede! But such is faith. Monuments have been built, alters erected, masterpieces have been painted, wars have been fought, and music has been written to glorify and remember our faith. Shouldn't the Rally Crede be accorded the same respect and honor? Hasn't the humble Rally Crede brought joy to tens of thousands of lives, most not knowing the Rally Crede was giving to them? The little guy seeks no publicity, asks no alms, but gives so much. On the spirit of Pants Rowland, Shoeless Joe Jackson, and all the faithful, GIVE US OUR RALLY CREDE MONUMENT!!!!!!! -
BTW, cool map.

QUOTE(YASNY @ Oct 17, 2005 -> 10:23 AM) Nice avatar! Most appropriate. I've been counting them down. I like the Bo "Ten" poster and the 5 Gold Rings the best so far. Aerosmith 9 Lives was also nice.

QUOTE(Brettwurst @ Oct 17, 2005 -> 10:38 AM) If you're fortunate enough to win the Series, I assure you that the joy true ChiSox fans will feel is unparalleled. I never thought baseball influenced me as much as it apparently did and does. No more inferiority complex, added confidence, lessened pessimism, a monkey off your back ... and the reverse effect for your archrivals -- that's what 2004 did for us and that's what we hope 2005 does for you. It was fun to watch the Red Sox celebrate. The manner in which they won, was really a joy to see, and fueled by Yankee jealousy, was a cherry on top. When does the WS sink in?

QUOTE(Steff @ Oct 17, 2005 -> 10:19 AM) LMAO.. Half price for parking??? shhhhh, the kids are dreaming. How about 2X for parking, that's closer to the truth. Everything is more expensive during a WS.
