Beheading the guy to send a message would have been nice, or possible checking the wounded soldier for a weapon and treating his injuries like all civilized countries have agreed to do. We wouldn't be defending this if we were watching this on Arab TV and showing a wounded American soldier being shot, and I cannot see a way to defend this without being very hypocritical.

First off neither party wants to see SS fail. Both parties know it is the key to the vote of an aging population and will pander to whatever will get them elected. The best quote I've heard regarding politics and SS is it is the "third rail of American politics". Fundemental truths about retirement planning, no matter who controls it. You need income + profit = enough money People are living longer and dying in a more expensive manner People are staying healthier and productive longer No matter who administers your plan, the government by investing in US Debt, or you by investing in the stock market, etc. you need interest and profits on your money. The principle isn't enough. You want investements? The US government spent over $400 Billion more than we took in last year. We pay interest on that money. Our SS $$ are invested in that debt and when it is repaid, your contribution is multiplied. It is one of the few pluses to our innability to control expenses while not lowering taxes. The biggest risk I see in giving people control of their accounts is the question of what do to if their investments fail to pan out. There is no other backup. Social Security should be considered like unemployment insurance, a backup plan, not the main plan. Use SS as part of a balanced approach. Focus on your 401k and other investments, and use SS as a backup.

My league high was a 252 on a night when the other team didn't show. It was mixed doubles and the other guy on the team told me to slow down and sandbag a little since we had won. I told him A. I don't cheat B. This is my best game ever. In gym class a buddy rolled 7 straight strikes to start a game but we ran out of time and had to leave. I heard he later rolled quite a few 300 games and is a house pro at some lanes. Three hundred is awesome. The ABA use to come out and certify them and hand out awards.

Once again your faith in Americans is truly inspiring. I would think with the GOP in control you would feel great about SS. Or then again maybe you are more realistic about the GOP than I thought. One of the things I am still amazed is how negative the GOP is about America being successful at anything.

Nice to see you have such high regard for America's abilities to do anything but kill and destroy.

They send you to Iraq yet? Of course it's the liberals that are dividing this country You like conservative, one p,arty governments based on religious principles, stay in Iraq.

I love how the conservatives will defend any expense for the military, then complain that their taxes are too high :headshake

Either are all the f***ing liberal media bulls*** blasting posts by others. But of course no one ever f***ing complains about those. I have to sit and read that bulls*** but when I respond I get called out!!

He's right. They have taken him on over and over again and nothing ever sticks. They should just head to Canada with the rest of the Dems.

This is all the liberal media making s*** up. Trust the GOP, they will never let you down. All GOPerbots and Texans are honest as the day is long.

LOL, how stupid is that when the GOP is moving the jobs south, not north. Now that the liberal, American job loving, unions lost, business owners can screw high US wages, say Si! to Mexico. By the way, thank you, the second company since 11/2 has anounced plans to move to or expand in Reynosa, Mexico. I am starting to really love a pro-business, spanish speaking president. As a matter of fact, Evil, have you thought of excaping those high salaries and high taxes and relocting to the border? Mexico has a booming high tech and design industry with workers from Mexico and India available for half of what they cost in the US. You can live in a nice gated community not far from Mexico, it's a quick car drive across the border now that Bush's administration has sped up border crossings, no worse than a Schaumburg to Chicago. The workers all learn English at an early age so you will not have a language barrier. 3,500 sq foot homes on 1 acre lots with swimming pools sell for under $200,000. A live in maid will set you back about $80-$100 per week and no more cooking, cleaning, laundry, etc. edit: I changed not to now. Sorry for the typo, I did want to give Bush credit for making my life, and all maquila workers, easier.

The entire process is a money driven, conflict of interest. We only notice it when it really matters.

:headshake I wonder if you could add up all the good and all the bad regarding the internet and place it on a balance, which way it will tilt?
-
After the GOPsters get rid of the Judicial and Press, who will offer the check and balance? Or are you willing to just trust whatever the f*** the GOP wants to do? And most politicians will tell you that once you have been declared the victor, your supporters do not come out. Calling the election for Gore HURT his chances not Bush. There was no need in Florida for Gore supporters to vote, which probably swung the election to Bush. Look at the west coast numbers during Reagans landslide in 84. Dems picked up seats in the west when GOP voters stayed home after knowing Reagan won. edited to add: I told the exit interviewer I voted for Nadar lying all the way. Exit interviews are always skewed. Plus, from my years as an election judge in Illinois, woman vote early in the day and men later, so it would be normal for more women to have voted during regular business hours. More women are stay at home types then men. The men typically vote after work.

They are also trained to search the prisoner to make certain they are not armed, injured or not. Sounds like an urban legend to me. I doubt soldiers would have forgotten to check.

I cannot remember even a short rant by winodj on the subject. I do wonder why people are so threatened by people who are different then themselves. I'm not a homophob, but I thought the cartoon was funny as hell.

The worst two weeks of my college life. End of the semester Out of meal tickets Spent most of my remaining money on Who tickets because I had a weekend job lined up working an outdoor arts and crap sale Rained that weekend, no show, no dough Three weeks of Ramen noodles, mac and cheese, and hamburger helper minus the hamburger. I laugh now, but then it was a disaster.

New flavor Lime, Chile, Shrimp. Very good. For backpacking they are lightweight, don't take a lot of fuel to cook, and easy to pack.

Actually the police officer then has to make a decision whether to impound the car and wait for a search warrant or not. The courts recognize that an auto moves and allows for impounding the vehicle pending a search warrant. Next step is an officer of the court would have to request the search and explain to a judge why the cop thinks you are carrying something illegal. It would probably be tough for him to offer enough just cause to have the car searched. At that point, you would have your car back without a search. Another question, why do you think they pulled you over? Could it be profiling?
