  1. Not everyone can shop at government supported PXs without sales tax WalMart - the PX for the rest of the world
  2. Nuke, Back in the 1960s the environment was much more poilluted than today. We risked major health hazards, which would have been even more expensive to solve. You may believe that we do not need clean air and clean water, but I do. It does a great disservice to call those people envirnomental wackos. If you want to complain about other people flamebaiting, why not stop yourself? The conservatives said we couldn't put air scrubbers on every smokestack, we did. The conservatives said we couldn't reduce auto emmisions without building $100,000 cars, we did. The conservatives said we couldn't reduce polluted discharge into our waterways, we did. The Chicago River actually burned less than a generation ago. Yes there is a cost to a cleaner environment. I live near Mexico and see first hand what not spending the money and enforcing the laws does to the environment. You've been to some pretty crappy places yourself. Do you really want to dismiss the wackos and be more like those places?
  3. It was a nice thing, unfortunately the President is not allowed to do nice things, everything he does, is weighed against the backdrop of politics. True for both sides. And predictably, Presidents tend to do more "nice things" as their re-election gets closer and closer.
  4. Flutie -- Hail Mary Jordan -- Buzzer Beater Gibson -- Walk Off Best I can remember . . .
  5. I thought the publicity part was landing on the carrier with the victory banner, not his Thanksgiving Day drop in. And Nuke to be fair, the conservative talk show hosts criticized the press for not making his Thanksgiving Day plans bigger air play, now they want it played down. And around and around we go.
  6. Is there a natural tie in with yesterday's pork barrel thread? A couple of thousand per person on a personal card added to $7.3 trillion as a nation, plus everything we have promised ourselves through Social Security and other programs. Remind me how we "won" the cold war? Wasn't it the USSR not being able to pay their bills? I love shopping malls at Christmas time. The hustle the bustle, the voices singing out feliz navidad.
  7. Michigan and USC are in the BCS by winning their conference. I am predicting that Oklahoma wins the Big 12, leaving Texas a possible at-large. Other potential teams for the two "at large" spots are Georgia and California. California, Georgia, Texas and Utah. The two will probably come from that group.
  8. The tension builds in hockey and anytime the action is around the net, people are either holding their breath or screaming one-time. The walk off depends on who is hitting, Frank Thomas where it is possible or some NL pitcher when it's not, makes a huge difference. and BTW, Buzzer beater -- Jordan over Cleveland is the best.
  9. AT&T The next best thing to being there. Election's over, no more campaigning. Which is why I would prefer to have presidents voted to single 6-year terms. He ain't Bob Hope entertaining the Troops every year
  10. But all of these stimulate the economy. They employ Americans who may otherwise be unemployed, they keep some companies from closing. Imagine if we took that much out of the economy, Bush's economic recovery score would be lower. We'll just borrow a few billion more from some foreign bank.
  11. When did I become the family IT guy In the past couple days I bought a new family computer Ripped apart the old familt computer for the hard drive and the CD burner and bought from Newegg a new mobo, case, CPU, memory etc. So know the fun begins. No sound from the upgraded computer. After reattaching all the wires to the mobo, and troubleshooting all the hardware, I realize the software was set to mute Now I cannot get any of the computers to share the printer. I've been around and around trying to make it work but so far no dice. And how is everyone else's Thanksgiving?
  12. We can start if you like
  13. The guy shouldn't be charged with any crimes if the report is accurate. The only way to build a case would be to say he should have stopped when they started shooting and by continuing etc. But that would be very lame and no jury in North America would confict. Still, I am thankfull he is alive to raise his daughters instead of a victim of robbery and murder. When will the criminals begin saying they shot in self defense.

It also has a rollercoaster feel to the background, which really fits.

Good thing Wannstedt wasn't coaching those dolphins I have heard similar stories before where dolphins schooled and protected a human. Dolphins rock.

You are correct, but in modern times it has become a shorthand abbreviation. And IIRC, and this is really fuzzy, I believe the X was designed to hide a person's Christianity to avoid persecution. But again, that was really fuzzy.

I hope it's easy to edit after one of the three adios this off season.
  18. As much as I love a good criminal loses in the end, if one of those bullets hit, we'd be reading about two orphan girls whose dad was killed chasing armed robbers.

Little Drummer Boy a close second is Mary's Song by Amy Grant And I won't make this a "thing" but please try and leave Christ in Christmas. The X-mas thing reminds me of X-men, and doesn't seem to fit the reason for the season. Just one old man's opinion.

CPS will cite too many cases and not enough case workers. Realistically, we do not have the money and people to protect every child from every danger. There just isn't enough money in the world So all we can do is pray that more parents have a family support network or somehow are stopped before it gets this far. I also notice it seems to happen more in Texas. We had the woman in Houston who drowned her kids, a couple in Brownsville who beheaded their kids, and now this poor young girl.
  22. I am not for taking away guns, I am for being honest and admitting that it does little to stop crimes, and more to heighten them. I also believe me and my deer rifle has no chance against Nuke and all his cool weapons of destruction and bombs, and everything else. So having firearms to protect us from our government is a joke. As far as personal, home protection. To really protect yourself and your family, especially if someone btreaks into your home, you need your gun 1. Available in seconds. 2. Loaded, with one on top. 3. A lock that comes off in less than a couple seconds. 4. Be able to tell the difference bwteen your scared child breaking down your door and running into your bedroom, and the bad guy, and be able to make the right decision. 1+2+3+4 for me = my guns in a safe and I store very small amounts of ammo at home. That is my choice, I feel my family is safer with my guns properly stored, not within reach of me and my kids.
  23. I know what I'd do Mr. Hand. I'd hire Van Halen to play a party, then hit some big waves in Hawaii.
  24. Hey, this tastes funny!! Well grandpa was a clown . . . Dehydrated Grampa, just add hot water and stir . . . Do you like grandpa? Yes with cream and sugar.
  25. There are several honest explainations of why he chose that particular firearm, and several not so valid reasons. Economics, it was the only firearm he owned of a suitable caliber and this was a once a year trip. Accuracy, it was the one he had confidence in. On the other side, he's a wacko, nutjob, paramilitary, idiot who thought he was in some jungle fighting commies, or GIs.
