  1. Back when I was in sales the thinking was if they concede on one point they will continue to concede. But I believe you are correct.
  2. I keep expecting MLB to announce delaying the cut.
  3. His doctor's office first asked him all the Covid screening questions then suggested a telemed visit or delaying seeing the doctor for six months. Wait that's what happens to the rest of us . . .
  4. Exactly. I'm looking over my class rosters and we must be expecting a 66% or greater opting for virtual with seniors. I have one class with 36 on my roster. Based on preliminary reports we will have room for about 16 students.
  5. I was thinking high school kids.
  6. I was pessimistic and thinking there is a losing streak coming.
  7. Holy crap. I laughed
  8. LOL I have no idea why I stumbled in this thread today. But balancing a checkbook? How 2006.
  9. Rookies and younger players are inconsistent and streaky. This may just be the greatest opportunity to be a rookie. Rookies hit a wall in a traditional season. This year the WS would be over before the traditional - I've never played this many games in one year, damn I'm tired, and sore, and can't stay focused, what the hell city am I in, slump hits.
  10. How I will be teaching high school kids this year. Students have a choice to virtual or face to face (f2f). I am expected to be on campus each day. I will enter the building and go directly to my classroom and not leave my classroom. I will sit in my seat and work during the day. I will have students in each class who may be physically in class five, three, two, or zero days each week. All will receive the same educational experience. My face will be on their screens for 15 minutes per class every day. Students who are in the building will be on their electronic devices accessing the same material as if they are remotely learning. Additional restrictions for students: Once allowed to enter the building they will go directly to their first period class. No stalling, no standing, keep moving. No off campus lunches. No clubs. Everyone will eat in the cafeteria with social distancing measures in place. After the last period they will be released in waves to avoid over crowding the hallways. There are some additional plans for moving students from one location to another that we are not publicizing. We are keeping those secret because in the good old days all we had to worry about was a school shooter. We will have buses but have discouraged their use. Why would a parent and student decide to come to school instead of going virtual? I can't think of a reason and I believe that may be the point. Also, if they choose f2f they can opt out at any time. If they choose virtual they have to wait until the end of a marking period to make the switch. We've been told to prepare for a huge shortage of subs.

Heartbreaking to see so much destruction.
  12. Where is Madrigal on this list?
  13. If baseball is nine inning let's allow ties. It's not like there is a small sample size and the standings will be close. And clinging to tradition is why football and basketball zoomed past baseball and made it the third most popular sport in America.
  14. Baseball was originally a play until someone scored a specific number of runs. So this nine inning thing is against the tradition. Even after putting in the nine inning rule they allowed ties, so playing until there is a winner is against the traditions. I would propose one change. Start the 10th regular, the 11th with a runner on 1st, then the 12th with a runner on second and call it a tie after the 12th. And forget DH for the pitcher. Have an offense and a defense like football. No need to play both ends like basketball. Let's go full on specialty* *only a slight exaggeration. I would enjoy watching, but I doubt we'll ever get to that.
  15. Eventually we need to up our runs per hit ratio.
