COVID-19/Coronavirus thread
When the singer finished his set people took turns dropping bills into the tip jar, they walked in their groups to their cars, and got in line to pick up their cases of wine. People being responsible. They wore masks when getting refills, used the hand sanitizer, no dancing, disposable cutlery and tableware, and everyone kept their wine glasses. But hey, if you prefer Grub Hub and Netflix go for it. But there are adults out there who are responsible, care about others, and not stupid. Why not allow businesses that show they can follow rules open? And this was 25% of the normal crowd. They are scheduling four other pick up parties this weekend to follow the capacity rules.

Here's the difference between Balta and I. If suddenly everyone rushes the singer, links arms, and starts singing I believe they are at fault, Balta, as I understand his point, blames the government for allowing them to be open. Personal responsibility.

Live music. Good food. Nice wine. Does this look scary to you? According to Balta soon everyone will all be piled up together and spreading the virus. I'll let you know. They close at 8 This town has had dozens of cases in six months. If I'm going to eat at home I'll just cook myself.

I was interested in the protocol as well. And I believe it highlights how the office of President in many ways is just another cog in a bigger machine. It's not like Trump devised that strategy. They pull out the playbook and follow the plan. Mr. President this is what we do now. You don't have a choice. I wonder where in the plans they decide to protect you and I?

Not at all. People have to eat. I stop into this restaurant three or four times a week. He's at 25% capacity, hand sanitizer at the door, they disinfect the tables after every person. It's safer than picking up groceries. It's very responsible. It's clear that Balta doesn't believe in personal responsibility and we should deny people opportunity because some are irresponsible. I think that's rewarding the wrong kind of behavior. Do we really believe It's not the individual's fault because they can't follow rules in a restaurant or bar? Bankrupting small business because college kids can't follow rules is ridiculous. Punish the people who are actually doing harm.

COVID-19/Coronavirus thread
I'm reading this at a restaurant that has been open for months, both for take out only and now in person. Not one infection can be traced to this restaurant. Strict adherence to safety rules is probably the main reason. There are so many diseases we can stop by everyone staying home, hunting and gathering their own food, and avoiding all chemicals. But we accept those risks. We trust the government to inspect our food, write laws to keep products safer, to regulate behaviors to keep us safe. We trust the government to regulate just about everything in our lives. But some people don't want to trust them to regulate this. There are areas of the country that have zero or very small infection rates. In @Balta1701 binary one size fits all world that doesn't matter. So you stay in the sand and be careful of any sharks that might be lurking on Oak Street Beach, I'm going swimming. Tonight I'm planning on listening to live music and sharing a bottle of wine at an outdoor venue. If it looks unsafe, I'll pick up my order and be leaving. If it looks safe, I'll be staying.

White Sox/A's-- Pre-series Discussion
I look at the As and think would I sign any of their players if they were free agents and then I hear Hawk " where would he play?" I like our guys in almost every position.

And for the record, I love going into the playoffs overdue for a win streak.

It is one of our local wineries. Great views. Excellent service. Beautiful drive through Texas hill country. I don't see why we should destroy their business when they can operate with reasonable measures in place.

Which postseason opponent would you prefer?
It's never easy once the playoffs begin. However, that does seem like a plan.

RIP Gale Sayers.
I guess since it transcended other social media we had other outlets. If anyone hasn't seen Brian's Song I highly recommend it. I read an article back in the 80s that basically said if his injury had happened then the results would have been much better and he probably could have added many more productive years to his career. I believe most importantly he was part of a long line of Chicago superstars that were also by all accounts, genuinely good people off the field as well.

LOL. Have you ever taken a position that wasn't at the extreme end of something? What a sad binary world you try to live in. I get it. Being at a bar with close family members, staying socially distant from others, leaving your mask on unless you are actually taking a drink, and washing your hands frequently is the exact same as dancing in a large group, not washing your hands, and never wearing a mask. Shame on me for thinking people should know the difference. I forgot what a low opinion you have of the average person. What was I thinking? Personal responsibility? Forget about it. If the government allows you to drive, that means travel 75 mph down side streets. If the government allows you go grocery shopping in the store, take off your mask, lick all the produce, and cough on everybody. We can't possible ask people to be responsible.

Bottom line there has to be some personal responsibility. The best plans fail when people ignore them.

Looks green on my screen. Plus in our early years everyone was on a computer. Now I'll bet 90% of the posts are from phones.

Possibly. I've always said the key to being a fan of any team is to just enjoy the sport. When I was living in Chicago and went to a lot of games I had a routine. Where to park, where to eat, where to drink. We had season tickets so we knew the fans around us. Win or lose it was fun. Of course winning is better. But after this trip around the sun I'll be entering my sixth decade. I've seen us in one World Series and six post seasons. I always recognized even our worst teams were filled with players who were among the 500 best players on the planet at that time. Amazing to think about.

We used to use green to indicate sarcasm. We should bring that back.

You need to jump in a game thread. They are fun. But any pitching change, that any Sox manager, has or hasn't done, in the past 20 years is always predicted as wrong by at least five posters. And if it works out it will be judged as we just got lucky. Every Sox batter has a hole in his swing that you could drive a truck through and they are patient when they should be aggressive or too fucking aggressive when they need to see a couple pitches. And if Greg775 is in the thread, Ozzie would have done it better.
