  1. That is much more interesting than this game
  2. It is one of our local wineries. Great views. Excellent service. Beautiful drive through Texas hill country. I don't see why we should destroy their business when they can operate with reasonable measures in place.
  3. It's never easy once the playoffs begin. However, that does seem like a plan.
  4. I guess since it transcended other social media we had other outlets. If anyone hasn't seen Brian's Song I highly recommend it. I read an article back in the 80s that basically said if his injury had happened then the results would have been much better and he probably could have added many more productive years to his career. I believe most importantly he was part of a long line of Chicago superstars that were also by all accounts, genuinely good people off the field as well.
  5. LOL. Have you ever taken a position that wasn't at the extreme end of something? What a sad binary world you try to live in. I get it. Being at a bar with close family members, staying socially distant from others, leaving your mask on unless you are actually taking a drink, and washing your hands frequently is the exact same as dancing in a large group, not washing your hands, and never wearing a mask. Shame on me for thinking people should know the difference. I forgot what a low opinion you have of the average person. What was I thinking? Personal responsibility? Forget about it. If the government allows you to drive, that means travel 75 mph down side streets. If the government allows you go grocery shopping in the store, take off your mask, lick all the produce, and cough on everybody. We can't possible ask people to be responsible.
  6. Bottom line there has to be some personal responsibility. The best plans fail when people ignore them.
  7. BTW, I'm happy with a last week slump before the playoffs.
  8. Looks green on my screen. Plus in our early years everyone was on a computer. Now I'll bet 90% of the posts are from phones.
  9. Possibly. I've always said the key to being a fan of any team is to just enjoy the sport. When I was living in Chicago and went to a lot of games I had a routine. Where to park, where to eat, where to drink. We had season tickets so we knew the fans around us. Win or lose it was fun. Of course winning is better. But after this trip around the sun I'll be entering my sixth decade. I've seen us in one World Series and six post seasons. I always recognized even our worst teams were filled with players who were among the 500 best players on the planet at that time. Amazing to think about.
  10. We used to use green to indicate sarcasm. We should bring that back.
  11. You need to jump in a game thread. They are fun. But any pitching change, that any Sox manager, has or hasn't done, in the past 20 years is always predicted as wrong by at least five posters. And if it works out it will be judged as we just got lucky. Every Sox batter has a hole in his swing that you could drive a truck through and they are patient when they should be aggressive or too fucking aggressive when they need to see a couple pitches. And if Greg775 is in the thread, Ozzie would have done it better.
  12. Open a few threads from September 2005. OMG we weren't even going to make the playoffs. LOL
  13. Again, have you been in any game threads when the team is losing? Did you not read me saying this is an amazing group? What I'm trying to say as a 50 year Sox fan I've been conditioned to things not working out. Southsider said it better when FanGraphs had us at 97.5% to make the playoffs and all he saw was 2.5%. It's just a little joke about being a Sox fan.
  14. Oh I get it, but go read a couple game threads, we actually are a horrible team that can't beat anyone with a decent record, with the worst manager in baseball . . . We know exactly how we could lose to anyone. But, yes, this is an amazing group of young talent. Sitting on an acorn and waiting for it to grow.
  15. If it was anybody else I would be thinking maybe "health issues" is the 2020 version of "pursue other interests" or "personal issues" when they want you out but you get to save face. On second thought, maybe he was pushed out.
  16. I always have a difficult time thinking of fans in another city thinking "playing the Sox is scary" after I've convinced myself there is no way we can win. LOL 50 years of scar tissue from being a Sox fan.

  18. Enjoy the night the shit gets real tomorrow.
  19. You know that moment when you're leaving back in a chair and you feel like you're going to fall? I feel like that every time he pitches.
  20. Please keep your hands and feet inside the ride at all times. Be afraid be afraid
  21. Dyson isn't use to being on base with his own hit.
