  1. Another factor to mix in will be their individual work ethics. Who gets fat - who gets fit.
  2. Which is the extreme on one side. On the other extreme side is widespread starvation, looting, murders as people lose hope. Let's hope we find a middle ground.

Exactly. But if the tree is healthy, he's fine. Think about it. In most suburban developments there are trees within reach of every home.
  4. At this point whatever dire prediction anyone comes up seems possible.
  5. Basically my son build this one in 2012 with the best AMD processor and graphics card available. Upgraded a couple things though the years then gave it to me. I replaced the power supply and put in a new Samsung SSD and this is perfect for Google Classroom stuff. How's homeschooling going? You're better prepared than most people.
  6. It's not a shock to anyone, including his coaches and Sale. The question is - was it worth it? If there was some sort of a formula that could be calculated how would this score? 5% less effective (innings, stats) for one more season without surgery? 15% for one more season?

Better news, your neighbor's insurance would be the ones to handle it if a storm knocks it over. About the only time it would be on you is if you decided to remove the tree yourself and make a mistake or if you allowed an obvious hazard to remain (dead limb). If you are thinking that's weird, step back and be an insurance company. If there is a standard agreement among insurers then there is no need to litigate and drive up their costs. Over the course of many claims the cases should even out. It's also the only way for homeowners to be certain they are covered for that type of event.
  8. It feels weird to be at home on a computer. In fact I needed to dust one off and add a new HD (SSD are amazing). I'm back to working from home after about a decade of being in a classroom. It brings back great memories of the early days here and the dozen or so posters who would be active weekday days. I'm watching this unfold both as an old guy with health concerns and a lot of elderly relatives and as a teacher of high school seniors. The parallels I have to this mid year possible permanent separation from my students were the eighth grade migrant students I taught. This is about the time of year that they would, at best, say goodbye or, at worst, just drop off my roster. Sometimes they had little warning as their employers (yes at 14 or 15) would call and say we need your family. Sometimes their parents found a new orchard or farm to work for the season and they would be dealing with even more uncertainty. One thing was always the same. The feeling they were leaving too soon. We had unfinished business. I pray each day that our class of 2020 doesn't leave unfinished business. Prom dresses never worn. Mortar boards not flung in the air. State basketball championship tantalizingly close (we're in the Final 4 for Texas 6A). A chance in every activity to challenge ourselves against the rest of the state. I'm also reading notes from my students. They are the overworked employees at HEB and Walmart trying to keep shelves stocked and they are the service workers who lost their jobs. Plus they are typically the oldest still living at home. That makes them the babysitters, tutors, shoppers, and drivers while trying to hang onto that last bit of childhood -- being a high school student. Yesterday at 2:00 pm I posted a short survey in my online classroom and about a third of my students completed it within an hour. When people talk about how lazy this generation is, I want to scream. These students are ready for this. They have trained hours each day to be on line, to communicate, to learn. I hope I can keep up with them.
  9. My high school team is ranked in the top 20 in Texas. It’s almost playoff time.

The son of the owner I worked for has been 100% full time with that travel MLM for 25 years now. He was a great salesman to begin with. My disagreement I have with him is people he never would have hired for a salary sales job, he'd accept their money to start their "own business", then criticize them for not being successful. Damn they never would need successful in sales no matter the job or commission structure. I made some money with the Prepaid Legal advice MLM program but had to get out when my full time job required me to a no part time job restriction. I missed the hustle. If you think about it the commission structure it's the same as other sales. You make a sale and your sales manager, general manager, area manager, regional manager, VP, President, and shareholders make money. That sounds like multi levels. The difference is by buying in, the company has no investment in you and will hire anyone. Of course people fail.

I struggle with this situation. I always show respect. I'm not a big fan of the Anthem at Blackhawk games but it does energize me and I feel the love for America. Everyone on the planet has the freedom to show respect for their country. Stand for the anthem in North Korea or die. So yeah we have the exact same freedom as the rest of the world. So why are we so proud of our "freedoms". Religious freedom? As long as you are Christian. Freedom of speech? Yeah as long as you don't criticize the government or soldiers. Freedom of movement? We're want to wall off part of the United States. Freedom of unlawful search and seizure? If you are innocent why do you need that? Freedom of the press? That's a liberal conspiracy to make Republicans look bad. Freedom to protest? Just don't do it anywhere you will inconvenience anyone. Perhaps protest at home. Yet we talk about how great our freedoms are but don't want anyone else to be free.
  12. I feel their pain. I remember the Billy Botch year. I wish Sale all the best.

I posted here first and dipped my toe in the WSI waters in 2005. One of the admins was threatening to ban someone who was claiming the Sox were going to blow the division lead but only if the Sox won the division. I pointed out that was stupid, if the Sox won the division the poster should stay and get heckled. Why have a "I predicted the collapse" hanging around. It was suggested I go post elsewhere. ?

Yet you said you didn't want guys who were overpaid the final years on their contracts.
  15. Texsox replied to Flash's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I was agreeing with you until the final statement. With baseball contracts the player is almost always overpaid the last couple of seasons. They are often times underpaid towards the start of the contract. You will always have players you are overpaying for that season, underpaying some players, and a few unicorns will be exactly what they are worth.
  16. Sigh, look at former players from circa 2000. McDowell or Buehrle. #expecttheworse Joking, a little

I'm assuming you live in the Chicago area. Since this is labor only lets break it down. Two workers should be able to remove your old stuff in one day. The carpet will be fast, the tile show. So 16 hours of labor. One worker should be able to install 500 square feet in one day. So two guys, one day, 16 more hours of labor. I'm at 32 hours. I don't have a calculator but I think that's around $75 per hour to the company. It seems like it's in the ballpark. Have you considered doing some or all of it yourself?

They scan in less than a second. I have six different places for the scans to go which also saves time. I like being able to have the pages as a real notebook until I choose to erase them. So far it's been handy.
  20. Texsox replied to bigruss's topic in SLaM
Bigruss, is the step in the bathroom or outside the bathroom? Depending how they mounted the carpet you may have glue residual to worry about. I was thinking finishing the concrete by either acid or paint. Pictures would help.

At least a couple of my friends are nervous enough to not want to travel beyond south Texas. That pisses me off and makes me really sad to realize that a lot of people believe that makes America great again. The same guy probably yells and screams throughout the anthem at Hawk games.

Next interesting step, where did he get his money. I just finished a NYTimes article that indicates banks are looking into his finances.

It's unfair to accuse everyone who ever hung out with Epstein of being pedophiles. I believe it's even unfair to accuse those who hung out with Epstein and have checkered sexual pasts of infidelities of also being pedophiles. There's a leap there that some people will not cross even if they like to have extramarital sex with interns and porn actresses.
  24. Texsox replied to joejoesox's topic in SLaM
Plus Trump's justice department had control of Epstein at the end. So yeah, Trump may really have had a vendetta against him. Good points.

I was the opposite. I'd take a lot of notes then lose the notebook.
