  1. I was just at a Boy Scout meeting and we were laughing at all the stuff we have done since joining and the ability to s*** in the woods came up. I thought it would make a nice companion to pissing in sinks. http://www.lnt.org/programs/principles.php
  2. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Mar 6, 2012 -> 02:53 PM) That would make you happy? Just slightly over an improvement in average of 100 points, eh? That's all you need? Nicely played sir. BTW, he is almost a cinch for come back player of the year.
  3. Yank the battery out and then put it all in a bag of rice. Running a sea base for boy scouts I have tried every method and that is the most reliable. Taking the battery out is something some people skip, but you don't want any current anywhere near the phone.

Young adult literature has become more about the subject matter than the quality of the writing. It has been a challenge for me as an 8th grade teacher. I've had to read a lot of the Hunger Games to my lower achieving students and unpacked chunks of the text. My pre-Ap classes breezed through it with only some minor issues which as a class they were able to figure out. Turn offs for adults might be the whishy washy relationship between the two main characters. She seems to be remaining clueless about the boy's feeling while being part MacGyver part Chuck Norris everywhere else. The setting is in the future yet there are some barbaric tendencies seem more ancient. It is a fast, easy read. I would say it is much more beach-n-beer than leather chair-n-brandy
  5. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Mar 6, 2012 -> 03:46 PM) I'd be fine with that. I'm all for internalizing externalities, and giving people a truer picture of the costs of their choices. Damn, I'm not certain what you just wrote, but dem sho was pertty words.
  6. QUOTE (Greg Hibbard @ Mar 6, 2012 -> 12:05 PM) If the Sox are out of it early, he'll hit .265/40/120. If the Sox are in it all year, he'll hit .198/22/76 I wish I could say it wasn't contingent on whether his team is competing for a division. IMHO they cannot be "in it" with those kind of numbers from Dunn. If the Sox are to have a chance, he'll hit .265/40/120. If .198/22/76, they are out of it. I wish I could see it anyway. I don't believe being out of it last year helped or hurt him.
  7. The government could require nutritional information and diet information on all packages.
  8. I assume you tried the usual stuff pad the area wrap the area ice afterwards stretch well before and afterwards check your shoes for any defects walk across a smooth, dry, towel with wet feet and see if you see any differences

Currently reading Grapes of Wrath. I am bouncing around classics for a while trying to fill in holes in my education. I really wanted to start Blood Meridian, but it has not arrived yet.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Mar 6, 2012 -> 11:42 AM) I started the first "Hunger Games" and couldn't put it down. I don't know why I resisted so long. I was very impressed how the author could create a sympathetic character who murdered people.
  11. This weekend I was heading to Virginia's Day Salon (not as nice as it sounds) to get a haircut. I always get Billy Joel's "Good Die Young" stuck in my brain. "But Virginia they didn't give you quite enough information . . . " I started laughing when we were there and I heard it on their radio.
  12. Nanny Staters. Interesting point. Would the U.S. be better or worse off if societal norms pushed people towards a healthier diet and exercise or had more of a we don't care what you do attitude? Let's suppose that a healthier workforce helps the U.S. to better compete in economic and social wars. Is it the role of the government then to promote what is in the country's best interest?

QUOTE (flippedoutpunk @ Mar 5, 2012 -> 04:44 PM) Too much methamphetamine in the batter. I personally love Whataburger so much that i plan trips to texas for it. My daughter is coming here for spring break and has three or four Whataburger trips planned.
  15. Based on a too small sample size I am liking Baylor. Of course I will be cheering for UT loudest.

QUOTE (CrimsonWeltall @ Mar 5, 2012 -> 03:19 PM) I have had 5 Guys three times at three different locations. At every one, I was given a soggy bag full of limp, greasy fries. Absolutely terrible. And even more annoying when your restaurant is filled with arrogant "Best Fries Ever!" posters. I love the bag of greasy fries.

QUOTE (kapkomet @ Mar 4, 2012 -> 08:38 PM) I've gotten to the point where I can't stand Subway - the bread is all dried out and nasty. We don't have Pollo Loco up here I don't think but I liked it pretty good when we've stopped in places south of here. Try the flatbread.

Italian Villa or Italian Village? I love sending visitors to Italian Village. They are always impressed. Not always the food exactly, but it is exactly what they expected from a Chicago I-talian joint.
  22. QUOTE (YASNY @ Mar 4, 2012 -> 05:17 PM) I like this idea. 60's Gary Peters 70's Dick Allen 80's Carlton Fisk 90's Frank Thomas 00's Mark Buehrle Right Now ... Paul Konerko Almost the same 60's Luis Aparicio 70's Wilbur Wood 80's Carlton Fisk 90's Frank Thomas 00's Mark Buehrle Right Now ... Paul Konerko Overall Buehrle

For Texas BBQ, single location places with pits that are 50+ years old are the way to go, but in a pinch, Rudy's is good for a chain. I thought 5 Guys was pretty good but we have a little neighborhood place Gonzalez Grocers that crushes them. The place only sells burgers, onion rings, and fries. Coke from cans. Wait 30 minutes when they are slow. Is Smashburger anywhere y'all?

We just stopped at El Pollo Loco for a quick lunch and I realized it is my favorite chicken chain. My favorite burger chain, Whataburger is also a regional chain. Whatcha got (chain wise) that you would miss if you moved? I would also add El Pato or Tacaria El Zarape for tacos.
  25. QUOTE (sunofgold @ Mar 4, 2012 -> 11:46 AM) Responding to that list, Bobby Jenks at #6 is a laugh. Even having Willie Harris and Brian Anderson on the list is funny. Willie Harris scored the winning run but what else did he really do for us? And BA was a great defender but couldn't hit. But then I did say that I like everybody from the 2005 team. Definitely we still had a 2005 hangover when voting in 2008. There was a very long, involved argument about accomplishments and how that factored into favorite. Your favorite food may not score high in nutritional value, your favorite car may not win races or offer best in class safety performance, but they are your favorite.
