  1. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Dec 12, 2011 -> 10:31 AM) Tex, have you ever read The Devil's Highway? I think you might enjoy it. I have. Awesome book. It pains me that they crossed so unprepared. Any first year Boy Scout would have survived that trip.

  3. Xanadu was from 1980, the same year that Whip It! was recorded by Devo
  4. Every idea I have had ultimately fails because someone has to earn less and someone has to pay more.
  5. http://www.google.com/hostednews/ap/articl...1a100542bfaec5c I have been to this spot on numerous trips to Big Bend. The remoteness is on a scale most people cannot imagine. I really do not see any security concerns. There is absolutely no way to "blend in" once you have crossed. I will be there this New Years. We already have these in remote spots along the Canadian border.
  6. I wonder what kind of a reception Tebow would be receiving if he wasn't a Christian. I am trying to think of an athlete in my time that so many people want to see fail.

    Christmas shopping

Used my iPad to order a gift, trying to keep up with the youngsters here lol
  8. Very interesting watching a concert by Chicago. Are people cheering for the 60s/70s band that created the hits, the two old guys from that era, or the new guys covering the hits? It's hard for me to say I'm sorry
  9. No one makes mud pies like a geologist
  10. Lesson planning is classic case of the more you put in the more you get out.
  11. When the integrity of the game is questioned, it hurts every team. Betters won't know who to trust :-)
  12. Junior mints are not as good as I remembered
  13. Fantastic insight to Balta. No matter how you knew that, it is crazy that you knew it.
  14. Evaluating this early in the off season is like watching the first 15 minutes of Iron Chef. You see a lot of ingredients, but until it gets closer to the final product, there is too much unknown for me to declare a winner.
  15. Devo's Whip It! may be the worse hit song of the 70s
  16. I am posting something about LL Bean to see if their ad will appear and I can click through while doing some Christmas shopping. I am pretty certain I saw their ad here, which happens to be exactly why I am shopping there. That and they make a huge donation at one of my favorite national parks.
  17. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 11, 2011 -> 01:43 PM) What in the nominating process is a good tool to evaluate candidates? What indeed? I'll toss this out there. The candidates vision for America the world and the likelihood they have the tools to get somewhere down that road. No candidate will accomplish all they want to as President. If they can get three or four middle level policies going, that's a pretty good term. So look at what the campaign puts out, decide if you share that vision. I'm just tossing that out as a start. My idea was to focus not on any one candidate. I understand there are some holes in the idea.
  18. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 11, 2011 -> 12:45 PM) Not knowing it was banned is not an excuse. This guy has a 10 year contract for like $150 million because of the things his body can do. Putting somehting into that body that you're not 100% certain about deserves a suspension. If you are 100% certain because a doctor or company tells you so, then that's why the legal system exists. Not only is this 100% correct, but the only way the drug policy can work.
  19. Really though, how often will a President have to debate? I'm wondering if it is that good of a tool to use in evaluating candidates.
  20. QUOTE (knightni @ Dec 11, 2011 -> 10:48 AM) According to another board: "You have to press the text field and make it active to bring up the keyboard. Also make sure Bluetooth is off.' Hmm, I did part one, I will have to turn off bluetooth and see if that makes a difference.
  21. Some folks in Arizona are talking about a similar plan.
