Exec's believe both Oz and Kenny could be gone
Plus what KW's plan is going forward. If he can inspire JR, if he can convince him that his strategy is sound, he probably is back. I would imagine that startegy and vision will involve a bew manager and at least some change in the coaching ranks (Walker?)

Rios for Rowand?
QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Aug 31, 2011 -> 11:08 PM) 1. You realize they both are AR, right? . I was reading the thread backwards and got to this and thinking wtf is AR? Average Righty? I really hate trash for trash trades. It's like having a garage sale to buy the crap at your neighbor's garage sale. I'd prefer the return of Rowand just because he's easier to cheer for than Rios. But as far as baseball production, it just won't make a difference.

Exec's believe both Oz and Kenny could be gone
QUOTE (bucket-of-suck @ Sep 1, 2011 -> 12:39 PM) IMO, KW will be bumped upstairs to Pres. and Hahn would take over as GM. Good call. That has the right JR feels to it.

Exec's believe both Oz and Kenny could be gone
Basically it seems they have been trying to throw each other under the bus all season. Ironic if they tossed each other under. I'd like to see a change at manager and a shake up of the coaching staff. I could support leaving K-Dubya in place for another season. It would be interesting who, if any, of the staff is (are?) retained. I wouldn't mind LaRussa, but I really don't see it happening.

Feds say no to AT&T - T-Mobile Merger
http://www.reuters.com/article/2011/08/31/...E77U3JZ20110831 As part of the potential merger AT&T agreed to pay $3 billion and other considerations if the deal fell through. So it is potentially a nice payday for T-Mo. Is four the magic number of national cell providers in the marketplace and not three? Tough to say. On land-lines we learned that one wasn't enough.

... it's about time
Because some on the board realize that players have to play. couldn't win consistently with the types of seasons some very key players have had.

5 reasons to still have hope
Bottom line, I never would have thought in June that I would be paying attention to the scoreboard in September. IF they pulled it out, it would be one of the most thrilling regular seasons in modern Sox history. I'd hate to miss it because I was thinking they don't have a chance and basically crap over all the optimism. Realistically, I really doubt they can pull it out. But I gave it zero chance a month ago.

Missed email causes student to be dropped from school
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 30, 2011 -> 07:57 AM) You named your kid Tex Jr? You are really trying hard to pull off the native Texan thing, aren't you?

Missed email causes student to be dropped from school
QUOTE (farmteam @ Aug 29, 2011 -> 08:42 PM) Welcome to FERPA. It's the same reason you can't call and ask what his grades are, unless he's given explicit written permission stating the names of people whom the school is allowed to share such information with. Exactly. I understand why they do it, but at times it was crazy.

Which of the underperfomers will figure it out in 2012?
Dunn-Peavy-Beckham-Rios same as SS. Dunn becasue he's still relatively young and with a long track record of something to return to. Peavy because he'll be another year away from a serious injury he may have rushed returning from. Beckham's season of goodness may be his high water mark. How many guys have we seen put up one good year? And I'm so down on Rios I can't properly evaluate.

Missed email causes student to be dropped from school
QUOTE (G&T @ Aug 29, 2011 -> 08:00 AM) All that said, again, a letter should have been sent to cover their ass and make sure they attempted to notify the parents for such a serious issue. If the student is over 18 the schools can't and/or won't say anything to the parents. They'll be more than happy to accept my credit card, but not answer any questions about anything else. Like how much does he owe? "Hello my son is Tex Jr. SS# 123-45-6778 I would like to pay his remaining balance" "How much would you like to pay" "His balance" "I can't give you that info" "How do I know how much to pay" "You will have to ask your son" "OK, what if I pay $1,000 will that cover his balance?" "No sir" "If I pay $2,000, will that cover his balance?" "Yes it will" "What is I pay $1,500" . . .

Missed email causes student to be dropped from school
http://sanfrancisco.cbslocal.com/2011/08/2...-missed-emails/ Unknown to Kim, there was a problem with his English placement test and when SJSU sent him an email over the summer to fix it or face un-enrollment, Kim never responded. Kim said that every time he had logged into his SJSU email account “it was something unimportant.” He said that he had also received an email about disregarding messages about placement tests. After getting that email Kim said he stopped checking his account.

The Democrat Thread
QUOTE (CrimsonWeltall @ Aug 28, 2011 -> 07:11 PM) Many Republicans take the "no, except rape/incest" stance, which clearly shows that it's not about the child, but about how the woman got pregnant. Got raped? Not your fault, have an abortion. Had sex? YOUR FAULT, you have that kid. What Kap was trying to say is abortion is not an easy question. Everyone has empathy for the people involved. The fact that some people will accept abortion for rape/incest is more about empathy for the victim of a crime than actually believing abortion is ok. They themselves may choose to have the baby, but allow an option for others. I'll bet some pro-choice supports would object to a person who used abortion as birth control. After six or seven abortions because she wasn't using birth control, some people may object,

Republican 2012 Nomination Thread
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 26, 2011 -> 03:28 PM) Except his own platform states that he has also endorsed a "Sanctity of Life Act.” which would put into federal law a statement that life begins at conception, thus defining abortion as murder in federal law. The party of inclusion even brings in fetuses. (as long as they are heterosexual, second generation citizens) Take that Dems And fwiw, that is out of step with what most Republicans I know believe so SS et al no need to distance yourself from his position. Same with same sex unions.

Republican 2012 Nomination Thread
Perry understands that as our President he will have a much different mandate than as the Governor of one state. Just like anyone else who receives a promotion at work, you have to change and you can't always hang out with your buddies and fight for their rights, you become management and have to support the position of management.

My neighborhood receives a travel advisory
This move is mostly retaliation for American travel advisories to areas of Mexico that statistically are not any more dangerous than Los Angelas, DC, Chicago, Newark, Compton, etc.

My neighborhood receives a travel advisory
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 26, 2011 -> 07:42 AM) Interesting that they are warning people to flee from the drug battle going on in Mexico, so that they don't get caught in the spillover of the drug battle going in Mexico... Then again the Obama administration probably armed most of them, so they might have a point. I believe it has been America's right to arms that has armed the drug cartels. It is amazing how many weapons are sold in Texas that are confiscated in Mexico in raids on the cartels. The cartels have so much money buying guns and ammo is not a problem.

Hurricane Irene & the hurricane season
A few years ago this storm would have spun west and nailed Jim. Hurricanes are not fun. And they have to give them tougher names. I was in Hurricane Dolly. WTF? Who is going to run away from a Dolly? This should be Hurricane Kill Your f***ing Ass.

Peavy with an eye on '12
QUOTE (RockRaines @ Aug 25, 2011 -> 07:58 PM) Yes, but im also not making multi million dollars to the point where I didnt have to work the rest of my life. You probably make 5x the lowest paid employee at your firm, what would you say if that person said "if I was making as much as Rock, I'd give $10k back to help the poorer employees"?

Peavy with an eye on '12
A player plays better than projected, the team wins on the contract A player plays worse than expected, the team loses. Why have a contract if everyone will just adjust later?

Peavy with an eye on '12
QUOTE (RockRaines @ Aug 25, 2011 -> 04:11 PM) Min wage vs millions is alot different. And my job is pay for performance, the way every job should be. And it was all my opinion guys, not a big deal. If a competitor offered you a guaranteed first year of $$$$ to jump companies, you'd take it. You wouldn't say just keep me on straight commission.
