  1. QUOTE (FlaSoxxJim @ Feb 10, 2010 -> 10:42 PM) I don't look at any of the old photos/videos — I can't do it — and I will do all I can to avoid seeing these as well. After about the first 72 hours when I was glued to the TV with the rest of the world I realized that I'd seen all I could bear, and I still am not fre enough removed to take in those visuals. I understand what you are saying, and of course it is your choice. I just looked at these, and they do offer a view that has not been viewed before. Same sick event, but fascinating pictures.
  2. QUOTE (bmags @ Feb 10, 2010 -> 10:40 PM) Oh, no i full support my statement that the southern people offer nothing productive to this country besides anti-muslim, anti-mexican rhetoric. And, yeah so where do the republicans disagree on torture? Show me where they don't want to torture? Anti-Mexican from the south!? Yeah right. For a couple seconds I thought you were serious in this thread.
  3. QUOTE (bmags @ Feb 10, 2010 -> 08:07 PM) as long as poor, subsidized, welfare southern and mid-mountain west states get representation in our society, we are going to be worse off. What does geography have to do with it?
  4. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Feb 8, 2010 -> 05:35 PM) The best players in the game today, the finest human beings, the greatest humanitarians, could ask Bud Selig if they could "un-retire" 42 for a season, to pay tribute to Jackie Robinson. The answer would be no. A retired number is a retired number. The only person who should wear 11 in a White Sox uniform is Luis Aparicio. Do you mean like dozens of players wearing his number? http://seattle.mariners.mlb.com/news/artic...sp&c_id=sea
  5. QUOTE (lostfan @ Feb 10, 2010 -> 12:46 PM) I burn through toilet paper 5x as fast because there are 2 females in the house, Maybe you should switch to ahem in the shower . . .
  6. Quick, we need a massive food drive! Call in the reserves! Stop the toursist cruise ships from docking . . .
  7. QUOTE (FlaSoxxJim @ Feb 9, 2010 -> 10:01 PM) I'm going to the Galapagos Islands in October. Yay me!!! Congrats QUOTE (FlaSoxxJim @ Feb 9, 2010 -> 10:05 PM) I'm fairly confident I've logged more time using a Cooter Counter than anyone else here. And that makes me cool, right? Wow, you need a special instrument for that?
  8. I knew I wouldn't win.
  9. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Feb 9, 2010 -> 04:53 PM) That was faster than I expected. Really? I am thinking once wide spread here, the Enquirer would have a photo in their next edition.
  10. This may go down as one of the greatest Super Bowl commercials of all time. Next to the Macintosh. I can't beleive that Focus on the Family winds up looking normal and the rest look like radical crazies. I never saw that coming.
  11. QUOTE (Pants Rowland @ Feb 7, 2010 -> 11:33 PM) I've never seen Titanic. Does that count?
  12. QUOTE (MattZakrowski @ Feb 8, 2010 -> 07:04 PM) Edward Norton's character in Fight Club. We used him in a Film and Lit class. It paired well with Jekyll and Hyde. A character we used in a literary class regarding monsters was from I am Legend. I did not go seethe movie, but if it stayed reasonably close to the book, it should be argued that DZ's character is actually the monster, not the zombies. Context makes the difference.
  13. QUOTE (iamshack @ Feb 8, 2010 -> 07:17 PM) Honestly, I ate my crow already, but to all of you rubbing it in, you have to admit that the commercial was so incredibly tame that it didn't even get a message across. It isn't as if they pulled it off in a respectful way such as some here apparently envisioned. It actually got the tougher message across in the weeks leading up and now. Pick another ad and let's try to have 100 posts about it. I was actually surprised that Focus on the Family was so low key. They are not a group I would have expected that from.
  14. QUOTE (G&T @ Feb 8, 2010 -> 08:49 AM) Considering the amount of publicity the ad got before it ever ran, I think they got their $3M worth. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 8, 2010 -> 08:53 AM) And the amount of people who turned it into some bunch of crazies killing doctors making a commercial game them the most free publicity of all. ^^^^ It totally ruined my Super Bowl. The family started fighting, people were dying . . .
  15. QUOTE (Gregory Pratt @ Feb 16, 2009 -> 10:35 AM) Who? QUOTE (lostfan @ Feb 16, 2009 -> 10:41 AM) I'm almost certain he's talking about Harold Baines. ^^^^ "hey kids, let's head to the Hall of Fame to see the greatest people to play baseball!" "But dad most of these guys did drugs, cheated, and a bunch of things you tell me not do??" "I guess that is what baseball and baseball fans are the most proud of . . ."
  16. QUOTE (bmags @ Feb 5, 2010 -> 06:37 PM) I know how to read reports. I know how to read statistics. It doesn't matter the topic. Which J-course taught you those skills?
  17. There was that really brilliant post that Southsider wrote . . .
  18. QUOTE (sin city sox fan @ Feb 4, 2010 -> 10:44 PM) That was nice of Brian Anderson to recognize his former teammates! That was my first take when I read the headline. I was thinking what the f***?? Then I read the second post and thought wtf wite???
  19. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Feb 5, 2010 -> 07:45 AM) So would you also have no problem with the Democrats using the "Nuclear option" to end the filibuster? How many of the Gang of 14 are still around? I would not for one two basic reasons. It is within our country's rules. To be fair, I've supported whichever side wants to do everything legal to get their agenda passed. I believe good and just representatives will either step up, as they did with the gang of 14, or voters will send a sharp message to those that operate in a manner they disagree with.
  20. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Feb 5, 2010 -> 06:39 AM) You're not rejecting the argument, you're deflecting and shifting goalposts. The argument isn't "what makes people happiest" but what makes the most financial sense. I'm going to back iamshack here and say that logic and ethics courses should be mandatory parts of any curriculum. Ok. But which career makes the most financial success is a terrible yardstick for most people.
  21. Kap is so far to the right he shows up on the left
  22. Today is a Pep Rally Day so the school schedule is a little screwy. As I was getting ready to dismiss my kids for lunch I looked over the schedule. Something caught my eye so I stopped and asked them, "what kind of twisted, sick person would serve bean burritos for lunch right before a pep rally". All the kids were laughing, two in particular. As the one kid was on his knees trying to catch his breath, I leaned over and asked, "don't you play the tuba? You will have plenty of help today!" He spit up in the garbage can. I am King!
  23. http://www.soxtalk.com/forums/index.php?sh...p;#entry1871529 BTW, most everyone here took it as a joke when it happened.
