  1. QUOTE (knightni @ Jul 10, 2009 -> 11:00 AM) I also considered Lance Johnson, Mike Cameron and Dave Gallagher in LF. If you go back 30 years, I would have included Baines in RF. Pre injury Baines was pretty damn sweet.
  2. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jul 10, 2009 -> 10:58 AM) I disagree with this. But its just my opinion based on my experience with divorce. Each person reacts to a stressful situation differently, I dont know why McNair did what he did, but as I said before Im not one to be morally righteous. Settlement A. I get to keep the house in New York, you get Miami. I'll keep my Escalade and Porche, you keep your jewelery. Settlement B. We sell the house and move into apartments, you take the Chevy and the payments, I'll take the 10 year old paid off Ford. Your opinion is someone in situation A would stay, but B would leave?
  3. QUOTE (lord chas @ Jul 10, 2009 -> 10:55 AM) ventura>crede All around, I agree. Just D, I think I'd take Crede.
  4. Jim Kaat was the best defensive pitcher I've seen. But that was thirty years ago. damn I'm old
  5. QUOTE (kapkomet @ Jul 10, 2009 -> 10:40 AM) Dan Quayle was VERY intelligent, potato, potatoe aside. His casting as "stupid" was done very well by the media. Don't forget, Reagan was "stupid" too. All "conservatives" are "stupid" as defined by the MSM, whether they are or not. Liberals, on the other hand, are the most intelligent people on earth. I have never understood the paradigm as to why people who want less of everything from our government are considered "stupid". Yet, those who want to give up their own freedoms to do what they want are considered the most intelligent. It seems to me that the opposite would be true - those of you who want everything to be done by our government are honestly drones. You don't want to think for yourself, you want the thinking to be done for you. That's "stupid". Or why people who work for the government are stupid, lazy, inefficient, etc. but private sector employees are innovative, hard working, effective, etc.
  6. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jul 10, 2009 -> 10:32 AM) And yet the divorce rate in America is astronomical. because it is worth it
  7. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jul 10, 2009 -> 10:24 AM) Its a lot easier to say: "Man up and get a divorce" When your not worth millions. I dont know his life or what he was going through, he seemed like a good guy, Im not about to get morally righteous on him. Actually it is a lot easier when you will be left with millions than with debt and only one income. It is also easier for the woman to leave when she knows she will have considerable assets after she leaves. A middle class woman, staying at home rising the kids, living in a heavily mortgaged home, family with credit card bills, a couple car payments, kids in a bunch of activities that cost money, that's when a divorce is difficult.
  8. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jul 9, 2009 -> 11:30 AM) I see no point in acquiring a 5th OF to put up a .680 OPS. We can get those for near-nothing from our own system. So true. Everyone would like to have a starter caliber bench player, but it just doesn't happen anymore. When there were 24 teams, guys like BA had a nice minor league career, possible a short stint or two. Now he received an extended chance. I'm just never much of a fan of giving anything up to strengthen the bench. It seems the delta is never that big, or the impact anything more than a tweak.

    Tex? Just...Tex?

QUOTE (SHIPPS @ Jul 10, 2009 -> 10:10 AM) What does a name change have to do with being a homophobe? The evil misquoter strikes back
  10. QUOTE (PlaySumFnJurny @ Jul 10, 2009 -> 10:11 AM) Granted, I've never studied their writings, but just like advance speeches, those are heavily edited and polished (if not outrightly written) by helpers, and thus, to me, should be somewhat discounted. All good points. I also believe off the cuff remarks are not a true gauge of intelligence. So pretty much we would have to discount every factor that is being used to create that image of intelligence or buffoonery*. *just for FlaSoxxJim
  11. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jul 10, 2009 -> 10:08 AM) Thought so. How do you prove it? SAT scores? GPA?
  12. QUOTE (JPN366 @ Jul 10, 2009 -> 07:33 AM) We don't have a lottery in Alabama because it's immoral. I'm fairly certain the tooth brush was invented there. anywhere else and it would have been a teeth brush
  13. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jul 10, 2009 -> 10:06 AM) Care to enlighten us with a few examples of her intelligence? If she can breath and feed herself she is more intelligent than the media portrayal.
  14. There are very few politicians whose actual, versus media portrayed, intelligence are skewed more than Palin and Quayle.
  15. Biters? Is there anything better than suddenly finding a longish nail that somehow was overlooked?
  16. QUOTE (FlaSoxxJim @ Jul 10, 2009 -> 09:24 AM) Really, until the earwax thread shows up, I got nothing. I'm in on that one. One time I was on vacation in the great north woods of Wisconsin and developed a nasty earache. I had been trying all sorts of home and OTC remedies for a waxy buildup in my ears. Finally I visited the Doctor and they set up a water pic and hydrogen peroxide. I'm thinking, wtf!? a water pic!? Sure enough, instant relief.

    Tex? Just...Tex?

Everyone shortens it anyway. The homophone I was trying for Texas > Texsax > Texsox just wasn't working to my ear either.
  18. I think some of you have Dan Quayle and Dana Carvey mixed up.
  19. QUOTE (SHIPPS @ Jul 10, 2009 -> 08:45 AM) Unless it was Mel Torme.......ew. Double ew, who did you really mean?
  20. QUOTE (FlaSoxxJim @ Jul 10, 2009 -> 07:14 AM) A fingernail thread!??! Can the nose hair thread be too far behind? I Kid Because I Care® You and BidEd can just PM each other to discuss that. I Too Kid Because I Care® QUOTE (SHIPPS @ Jul 10, 2009 -> 07:48 AM) I bite my nails. ^^^^
  21. QUOTE (Nixon @ Jul 10, 2009 -> 08:26 AM) Should that be green? no
  22. QUOTE (Rex Kicka** @ Jul 9, 2009 -> 11:50 PM) The day after the old cycle ends. So $100,000 for a Senate race seems like a blink of an eye.

    Colon

QUOTE (rangercal @ Jul 10, 2009 -> 02:52 AM) 5th starter= Colon until he loses it. IMO, his ERA would have to be over 4.50 to lose it. I would be fine with it. Poreda is pretty nice coming out the Pen, for now. What ever happens, it is nice to know that we don't have to plug in the 5th spot with Arnie Munoz or Felix Diaz. That year was f***ing brutal.
