  1. QUOTE (RibbieRubarb @ Jul 17, 2009 -> 11:56 AM) Under 18 Babysitter? The going rate is 10-20 years, I think... Oh sorry...I was confused by the question.
  2. QUOTE (Middle Buffalo @ Jul 17, 2009 -> 09:05 AM) Well, I'm kind of making the assumption that both people would have been drinking, and the following day one (or both) of them regret what happened. I'm sure you'd agree that drinking leads to lowered inhibitions and generally poor judgement. Saying "don't f*** drunk girls" puts all of the responsibility of good judgement on the male - a male who' likely been drinking. Are there any other laws besides rape that drunk people should be exempt from?

SHIPPS has BR movies, I have books. Lots of books, everywhere, some really stupid ones that typically my ex wife would buy for me. Anyone want a copy of The Preppie Handbook? What do you collect or waste your money on?

QUOTE (kapkomet @ Jul 15, 2009 -> 11:13 AM) The only reason I knew was the title, and SHIPPS. Oh sure, blame it on SHIPPS But that Stone Pony is a good lookin' youngster . . .

QUOTE (kapkomet @ Jul 15, 2009 -> 11:10 AM) Nah, that's Stoney Pony. I should have known you would be better versed on the male sex symbols, you are such a dick magnet!

QUOTE (kapkomet @ Jul 15, 2009 -> 11:06 AM) You love Steve, too. That isn't everyone's favorite lifeguard David Hasselhoff?

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 15, 2009 -> 11:06 AM) I love David!!! We know you do . . . Here is another picture for your collection
  8. QUOTE (Soxy @ Jul 15, 2009 -> 10:32 AM) Coercion. A guy may get turned on and then decide he doesn't want to have sex--you have a right to change your mind. If consent is not freely given, if someone is too drunk to get consent. I'm sure there are multiple ways for women to do it. We just don't do it as often. Soxy, giving that PhD in Psychology a workout today. Giving away Psychology lessons is bad business for a Professor Remember Tex's favorite saying, you can't wake someone who is pretending to be asleep.
  9. QUOTE (Cknolls @ Jul 15, 2009 -> 10:30 AM) All gov't current gov't employees should have their pensions moved into 401k's. All former gov't workers should have their pensions cut 25%. No gov't worker shall receive more than one pension. I think I just cut the deficits of the states by 75%.. Does that include military pensions? Cops who quit the force and become firefighters? If someone works job A and receives a pension for it, and someone else works job B and receives a pension for it, how would that be cheaper than a single person? And would you also cut social security 25%?
  10. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 15, 2009 -> 10:01 AM) It was. He also said as long as he had his house and Puerto Rico, he'd be fine... What if some terrorists bombed his house in Puerto Rico? Would Javy finally show some damn emotion? he's be all choked up
  11. QUOTE (Soxy @ Jul 15, 2009 -> 09:57 AM) That's why I included community service. Spend a year teaching in a school system that always lacks teachers. Or being a guide at a national park. Or beautifying a community. Or working at a daycare. Or a retirement home. Give people a choice as to what kind of service they would like to perform. I said nothing about everyone must join the military. I realize that. I like the idea, but there will be some issues to work out, especially for the population with less skills. Also, what penalty would be used for those that refuse service, or would there be a big carrot?
  12. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 15, 2009 -> 08:51 AM) Your assumption was that I have never been on the bad end of the system. That is not true. I have gone without insurance for periods of time before. Even with that said, I do not think that someone else should be paying for me. Just looking at degrees here. Would you be in favor of the government paying for treatment or prevention of infectious diseases like TB, flu, small pox vaccines, etc.
  13. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Jul 15, 2009 -> 08:03 AM) How would that be possible? Especially for those who went to college? College loan paybacks begin within 6 months You would more than likely be picking up some form of a check while serving your country. One potential problem is the military doesn't want a lot of these people.
  14. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Jul 15, 2009 -> 09:32 AM) Who said that again? Cabrera? Wasn't it Vasquez?
  15. QUOTE (SHIPPS @ Jul 15, 2009 -> 08:21 AM) How could anyone in their right mind not like Billy Koch? One thing he did was man up and admit he was sucking, didn't hide, didn't give some lame, I'll be a rich man sitting on a beach speech. I always respected him for that. I really liked Billy Koch, Billy Botch frustrated the f***ing hell out of me.
  16. What pitch was he trying to throw? I'm not liking his grip. But, as always, Coop can fix 'em.
  17. QUOTE (BigEdWalsh @ Jul 14, 2009 -> 11:22 PM) Imagine how much more he might have been booed if he were wearing a Cubs jacket. Of course, that'll never happen. QUOTE (Middle Buffalo @ Jul 14, 2009 -> 11:33 PM) Well, that wasn't exactly the most impressive pitch I've seen, but being Obama, I'm sure he threw his "change."
  18. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 14, 2009 -> 03:14 PM) Those are actual emails sent to members of Governor Sanford's staff during the 5 day period where he was totally missing assuring his staff that this was no big deal and the media attention was silly. They were sent, respectively, by reporters from the Wall Street Journal, Fox News, Washington Times, and Stephen Colbert. And the emails may, or may not, be what they actually thought. Buddying up to staffers is a well worn path to a story.
  19. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jul 14, 2009 -> 04:40 PM) Where has this occurred? Drunk drivers. OJ.
  20. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Jul 14, 2009 -> 03:08 PM) Prisons and jails should use the inmates for labor and jobs more than they do. I use to believe that until I realized the criminals would be taking jobs from law abiding citizens. That troubles me. A friend of mine lost a nice contract for assembling electronic parts when a prison opened up a small assembly shop to train the inmates and have them pay for some of their costs. He had to lay off four assembly people.
  21. One thing she will have by quitting, is the power to chose what she does. Writing an op-ed piece while playing with the grand-kids is far different than leading a state.

    Books Thread

I read a number of pages from The Beats: A Graphic History. After about 15 or 20 pages I saw so many inaccuracies and biases, I put it down.
  23. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jul 14, 2009 -> 09:03 AM) I'm there with ya. At first I was thinking why is a thread about some Olympic *guy* I've never heard of so long? QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jul 14, 2009 -> 09:03 AM) But I'm happy to have seen her now. Yes sir.
