  1. QUOTE (Capn12 @ Aug 9, 2009 -> 05:42 PM) I've certainly not read the entire thread, but I don't get the interest in Rios. Rather pedestrian player for the money he is going to be paid over the next years to come... Better than what we have. The best discussion around. Mystery. Intrigue.
  2. The waiver claim is awarded to the team in the same league with the worse record, or if no one in the same league claims him, it would go to the team in the other league with the worse record. So in theory, the WS could block any deal the Tigers try and put together on a waived player. However, the downside is the Sox would have to be willing to take on whomever they claim and put them on the roster. Likewise, Cleveland or the Twins could block any deal the Sox or Tigers are trying to put together for a waived player. I did not see that posted, pardon me if that is a repeat or if my memory is faulty.
  3. I wonder what definition eveyone is using on certain words. Atrocious to me would be someone who would not even receive a contract to play A ball, regardless of their offensive skills. Based on my definition, Dye is not atrocious. Based on a different definition, say, not one of the top 3 defenders in baseball, he is atrocious. But these silly debates are worthless unless definitions are established.
  4. Wow, closing in on 500 posts Easily the most talked about GOP candidate

QUOTE (Iwritecode @ Aug 7, 2009 -> 10:11 AM) I'd really like to know how they plan on enforcing this. About 13 states now have laws with many more expected to follow. Direct observation will be the most used technique of enforcement.

  7. QUOTE (LosMediasBlancas @ Aug 6, 2009 -> 01:46 AM) ..... also, what are the long term effects of putting someone under nightly? moon walking, the sensation of having only one hand, . . .
  8. QUOTE (lostfan @ Aug 6, 2009 -> 03:16 PM) I hijacked this thread a few days ago, it's not about Palin anymore. Exactly, the Palin phenomenon is so much bigger than one person and is universal. You can participate by thread jacking! See how open Palin 2012 is?! It is an amazing paradox, it's not just about Palin, but it's all in her name! It's cosmic man. A beautiful thing.
  9. takin' care of a small load
  10. Could this thread follow her all the way to the White House in 2012?
  11. I wonder if she would have resigned as VP?
  12. You know how a song comnes on and it jkust kind of fits your day? Well today, for me, as my two months on South Padre Island surfing, sailing, kayaking, creep to a close, it is Windin' your way down on Baker Street Light in your head and dead on your feet Well another crazy day You'll drink the night away And forget about everything This city desert makes you feel so cold. It's got so many people but it's got no soul And it's taking you so long To find out you were wrong When you thought it had everything You used to think that it was so easy You used to say that it was so easy But you're tryin' You're tryin' now Another year and then you'll be happy Just one more year and then you'll be happy But you're cryin' You're cryin' now Way down the street there's a lad in his place He opens the door he's got that look on his face And he asks you where you've been You tell him who you've seen And you talk about anything He's got this dream about buyin' some land He's gonna give up the booze and the one night stands And then he'll settle down there's a quiet little town And forget about everything But you know he'll always keep movin' You know he's never gonna stop movin Cus he's rollin' He's the rollin' stone And when you wake up it's a new mornin' The sun is shinin' it's a new morning You're goin' You're goin' home.
  13. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jul 30, 2009 -> 01:27 PM) You said that? I remember bureau spouting off about similar stuff. bureau was not banned by soxtalk, he has just stopped posting.
  14. QUOTE (BigEdWalsh @ Jul 28, 2009 -> 03:04 PM) One good thing about not being married any more.
  15. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Jul 29, 2009 -> 03:37 PM) Although not recent, this is another one of Tex's polls http://www.soxtalk.com/forums/index.php?sh...=10996&st=0 Clearly a favorite of mine, and a topic I believe I stole for Jas.
  16. PR to show the voters what shape the government is in. Perhaps there will be a proposal for a .05% increase in the state income tax or some silly thing like that.
  17. And how about cars staying the hell out of the bike lanes? As a cyclist, I've come close to being hit when someone jumps in the bike lane to make a right hand turn. In a car I got in an argument with a jackass that cut me off on the right when I was making a right turn. I wish a cop was there to set him straight.
  18. QUOTE (lostfan @ Jul 28, 2009 -> 08:01 AM) Has anyone ever seen Sarah Palin's birth certificate? I mean does anyone have a dated photograph and sworn statements proving she was born after Alaska became a state and she doesn't just look good for her age? Because if she was born before then, Alaska wasn't a state and she wouldn't be a natural born citizen. Making her ineligible for president, of course. Nicely played sir.
  19. QUOTE (mmmmmbeeer @ Jul 28, 2009 -> 10:32 PM) Considering this came from a CR press release, I think this was probably a promotional thing. I'm sure there's more to come. Yeah. I smell a Crown Royal check coming to Mark and all those were comped. Kind of like the "I'm going to Disneyland!" promos.
  20. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 28, 2009 -> 02:23 PM) Mrs. Podsednik, meet Mrs. Kotsay. And that is the start of a motel peephole movie worth watching
  21. I have not spent much time on a surfboard this summer. Too busy. But I will find some time this week. I also have a couple books here I'd like to read.
  22. One of our fishing groups last year caught a few tuna while trolling offshore. Two hours later, after a light dunking in soy sauce, they were being cooked medium rare on my very hot mesquite charcoal grill.
  23. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 27, 2009 -> 09:48 PM) 4256 If he had 1000 career hits, no one would give s*** about him. But because he got a lot of hits and played hard, he should be exempt from the rules that have governed this game for almost a century now. Bulls***. Agreed. As a society we should be using him as an example of leading a life by the rules. Show kids that no matter what good they may do, they can undo it by a stupid choice. And to kind of agree with some that his accomplishment should be recognized, go ahead, put in a plaque that reads he would have been enshrined here, but he is banned. Recognize the record holder and hold him up as an example of the integrity of the game. By allowing him back in we are telling kids there are two sets of rules in society. Become famous enough and you can piss on everyone. As SS said Bulls***.
  24. Seems as if his Doctor may have killed him with an injection. Breaking news on CNN.
