  1. QUOTE (lostfan @ Aug 11, 2009 -> 03:05 PM) I know a girl from the Army who had huge boobs. But she had a reduction and now she's just a 36C. So yeah, almost had something there. Not quite.
  2. I was as big critic of his circa 2004 as I am a fan today. I'd love to pull up some threads from that time and see how many here wanted his head. The feeling that 2005 was a once in a lifetime event has been replaced by the feeling this team will be a perennial playoff team for the next 5 or 6 years.
  3. QUOTE (bmags @ Aug 11, 2009 -> 02:50 AM) the south /thread oil \thread
  4. QUOTE (RibbieRubarb @ Aug 11, 2009 -> 02:29 PM) I did too! Except I read Soxtalk through SS2k5's window. I had to wait for him to stop posting and fall asleep. I'm still waiting...
  5. When hockey first came to the Tex-Mex border I had the pleasure of sitting in front of a "know it all" who was trying to impress his date. Finally I had to tell him, that's a Zamboni, Zapruder filmed the Kennedy assassination. I'll let him go on believing that icing is a "delay of game" penalty and a power play involves the "bigger defensive players".
  6. I lurked for about 5 minutes before making my first post. Some people seem to lurk a very long time before actually posting? What did you do?
  7. Years cannot be viewed in a vacuum. I'd be looking at the total dollars for his deal and then assuming one maybe two seasons. To use an extreme example to make this point, I'd give Jim a 10 year deal, but at $1,000,000 a year, then assume I was signing him for 1/$10. Same with Dye, two years max.
  8. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 11, 2009 -> 09:54 AM) I thought I read somewhere that he wouldn't play until tomorrow. Why that is I don't know. physical? The team is doing so well right now?
  9. This will probably stop us b****ing about CF until May or June 2010 As anyone read or heard confirmation he'll be in CF? Dye was just asking . . .
  10. He may have been tossed under the bus today. I certainly feel Kenny had Dye in mind with his "ruffled feathers" comment on WSCR
  11. QUOTE (RME JICO @ Aug 10, 2009 -> 08:46 PM) Rios was a Type A player in the offseason, so it is nice to get him without giving up draft picks. 'cuz we've been so solid in draft picks
  12. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 10, 2009 -> 08:39 PM) So, let's imagine this...let's say you're right and he's slightly overpaid. That means either he's making $1-2 million more than he should be per year, or he's signed for what, 1 year longer than would be fair? Given our holes in CF and the fact that we get him for this season for only $2 million, doesn't it seem worth paying a slightly premium price if this guy brings production? a few hours ago some smart person mentioned there are a couple spots where the team probably could and should overpay. This feels like that spot. The problems have been around for a few years and there does not seem to be a solution in the organization for the next year or two.
  13. QUOTE (rockren @ Aug 10, 2009 -> 08:37 PM) I certainly don't disagree. Who is not the type of player I would think needs to be called out.
  14. QUOTE (rockren @ Aug 10, 2009 -> 08:34 PM) No...you're not. I just don't think it's unfair to speculate he was referring to Contreras FWIW. My first thought was JD
  15. QUOTE (rockren @ Aug 10, 2009 -> 08:31 PM) I believe it to be fair insinuation in regards to Jose as he referred to yesterday's game. Didn't an outfielder suck it up also? Or am I getting games confused?
  16. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 10, 2009 -> 08:27 PM) Any other tidbits from KW's interview? I'd love to know where they plan on having Rios bat. If we put him in the 6-7 range, at least it would give us some more speed. He pretty much said it was up to Ozzie to find a place to play him. Work the matchups, etc
  17. QUOTE (Kenny Hates Prospects @ Aug 10, 2009 -> 08:14 PM) Kenny: "When people start ruffling my feathers, people start leaving town."
  18. QUOTE (Shamrock4Life @ Aug 10, 2009 -> 07:56 PM) From the old thread: Not entirely true. Until the offseason, the White Sox would have been the only team Toronto was able to negotiate with and that was only for 48.5 buisness hours. But according to the Steve Phillips waiver wire arcticle on espn.com from 2005, the team waiving the player, gets to see who put a claim on the player. MLB announces to the team placing a player on waivers which team "won" the claim. Toronto would not know if any other teams also made a claim. An earlier post in the other thread had Toronto entertaining offers from other teams this past weekend.
  19. QUOTE (hi8is @ Aug 10, 2009 -> 07:49 PM) anyone know the link to the internet radio feed of 670? http://player.play.it/player/player.html?v...onestat=wscr-am http://www.670thescore.com/pages/3578667.php
  20. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 10, 2009 -> 07:26 PM) And, unlike playing the FA market...we didn't have to outbid anyone...and we didn't have to lose a draft pick. In a sense we outbid everyone with a worse record in the AL. But in spirit I agree.
  21. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 10, 2009 -> 07:17 PM) And he would have stayed, but KW and the Sox didn't want him back in 2006. KW will decide which one he wants back, Dye or Thome, and it shouldn't be hard to keep them around for another year or two. Agreed
  22. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 10, 2009 -> 07:13 PM) And you know I'll be thrilled when we trade Jenks. Cowley was saying earlier today that there's no way Dye doesn't return to the Sox next year, as he really wants to be here. However, I think today's move might have changed that. Yeah, Frank really wanted to stay too. I'm not entirely sold on wanting Jenks gone, but I only have had the chance to see him throw a couple times.
  23. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Aug 10, 2009 -> 07:11 PM) I like it. I could get use to this. Of course now not winning the division seems like a disappointment.
  24. So this is what it feels like to be a Yankee fan
