QUOTE (Kalapse @ Aug 9, 2009 -> 01:15 PM) That's because your definition spans all players, mine for example only includes major league everyday outfielders and among everyday outfielders in the majors right now Jermaine Dye is in the bottom 3 defensively, he's a DH masquerading as an outfielder. I'd say that qualifies as atrocious. And based on your definition, I would agree. So atrocious in your book is still employed as a MLB outfielder. In fact, every year there are, by definition, three atrocious outfielders.

QUOTE (Pumpkin Escobar @ Aug 10, 2009 -> 11:23 AM) It goes to the worst team in the AL then through the rest of it before the NL. I know how it works. Had he gotten past us - he could've gone to any other contender ahead of us. Which is quite a few because of our record. Detroit, NY, Boston, Tampa, LAA, TExas, and I think Seattle even. Those are all teams who could've potentially done harm to us if we made the playoffs and he was in their Uniform. We prevented that so him being pulled back isn't a huge loss to us. I am assuming that KW and Co. are not worried about other divisions. Winning the Central is the most viable path to the playoffs. But I agree, the other is a possibility and not getting him isn't a huge loss. -
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Aug 10, 2009 -> 11:20 AM) Ugh. This does make it difficult, doesn't it? I mean, despite its flaws, the Trib is still far and away the superior paper in town. But now they go and hire this jackass. Yuck. That's were custom newspapers will save the day. Mix and match what you want to read.

QUOTE (WCSox @ Aug 10, 2009 -> 11:20 AM) There's a good chance that Ricciardi won't be working for the Jays anymore at that point. If he wants a supportive letter of rec from his owner, taking $60 million off the books would be a good place to start. Based on the assumption the owners want Rios off the books ASAP. Unless I missed some objective evidence, that is just an assumption. For all we know, they had a trade worked out with Detroit, or another team with a better record, and were hoping no one else claimed him. -
QUOTE (Iwritecode @ Aug 10, 2009 -> 11:05 AM) I just have a hard time seeing them using this as a reason for pulling somebody over unless they can actually see the person using the phone. Even then, they'd have to be able to prove they were actively texting at the time. I can see them pulling somebody over for swerving or something and then hit them with this as a secondary thing... Isn't that about the same as the hands free laws? I thought you could be ticketed for a variety of unsafe driving actions, putting on makeup, etc. Cops arrest people all the time by observing them breaking the law, and they make excellent witnesses on the stand.

QUOTE (Pumpkin Escobar @ Aug 10, 2009 -> 11:13 AM) or prevent him from going elsewhere. Since the waiver claim goes to the team with the worse record, the Tigers would be the only team that matters we would be preventing from claiming him. -

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 10, 2009 -> 11:07 AM) He's still guaranteeing his team losses if he holds Rios. I think it is a little short of a guarantee, there is a chance (small) he could do better in the off season, with a potentially bigger pool of teams. I just wonder if we are sitting here talking about their team and sounding like the idiots from other markets that talk about the Sox. If they truly wanted to be shed of the contract at any cost, they could have used irrevocable waivers. -

QUOTE (lostfan @ Aug 10, 2009 -> 10:02 AM) Dem sex scandals are funny too. The GOP just happens to be carrying the torch atm. I wonder how many do not get caught. 20:1? 50:1? 100:1?

QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Aug 10, 2009 -> 09:59 AM) My bad. I was under the misconception that we just got through with an evil 8 year regime/dictatorship that couldn't do anything right. I apologize. And it is a natural division of small government versus larger government.

QUOTE (G&T @ Aug 10, 2009 -> 09:58 AM) Possibly. I guess I agree with the overall premise that this trade won't happen. I don't have a clue what the teams can or can't talk about. I read there is a $25,000 fine for leaking waiver wire information. So they could not report pulling back the waivers without admitting he was on the waivers. -
QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Aug 10, 2009 -> 09:55 AM) Bulls***. Were you asleep for the past 5 or so years? Shall we start the long list of things the government can't do, according to the GOP? Judicial system (activist judges) Health Care Regulate financial markets just to name a couple

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 10, 2009 -> 09:49 AM) When we find out Kansas City traded a couple prospects for him? They would have won the waiver claim because of their worse record. -
QUOTE (kapkomet @ Jul 28, 2009 -> 07:54 AM) But please, let's continue to make sure that we talk about how bad everything is here in our country. USA SUCKS! I believe you would say our government sucks. That seems to be a GOP theme.

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Aug 10, 2009 -> 05:45 AM) see above: Ok, I should have qualified my statement. I do think chiros can help with back pain. I don't think that "spinal alignment" can affect asthma, cancer, diabetes, etc. like some chiros claim. There seems to be a chasm between these two groups of chiros. my asthma kept me from playing. I tend to agree with you.
