  1. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Mar 29, 2012 -> 10:17 AM) He was almost done mid year this year. He's in a ton of pain, couldnt even climb the ladder to cut down the nets without two guys holding him up. He is grooming Chris Jent to take over. Im sorry did you say something, Im still mesmerized by Kate Upton's bouncing gems. I seriously stop reading whatever you write to stare at the gif for a minute, than go back to reading your post.
  2. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 29, 2012 -> 10:33 AM) I'm guessing they knew it was coming, hence the Bush signing. No retirement, no Bush. Agreed, just seems odd that we're down to that little amount left. Figured we'd be at least above $5mm going into the draft.
  3. So if Barber hadn't retired we'd be close to no cap space, seems odd.
  4. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Mar 29, 2012 -> 10:21 AM) No, trying to wake you up so you get off that disgusting sounding diet...boiled chicken...yuck. I'd sooner just stop eating meat if I was forced to eat that, there are easier high protein alternatives like Tofu that you can make taste like other things versus a tasteless piece of boiled meat. :/ The issue is I don't see it as a sustainable diet...it just comes across as the exact type of diet you'll get away from the second you can because it's tasteless and boring, and more often than not, when people do move away from "meh" tasting diets, they crash into unhealthy eating territory. My reply was all joke, and trust me this is not something I want to continue for the rest of my life. This much stricter diet is for me to get in better shape before I work fulltime this summer. After that, I will be incorporating more types of healthy eating as I'll be living at home for at least a few months so it's easier to cook/store food there than at a campus apartment living with 3 other guys. I actually really do like the rice/egg/chicken combo with the mix of sauce or seasonings on it, very filling and you can season it to your own taste. I may look into tofu. Like I said, I like these meals but yes they become tiresome, so any alternatives that offer similar nutritional value and a different taste are more than welcome.
  5. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Mar 29, 2012 -> 10:12 AM) I find it hard to believe you don't have time to cook/eat in a way more proper than boiling chicken and freezing it for a weeks supply at a time. I was in college at one time, taking 18-24 credit hours per tri-mester, while working 25 hours a week at an Internet company...and I found time to cook, not to mention a lot of other things... I have an idea...spend less time here and you'll have time to cook properly. Are you trying to get me to go away
  6. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Mar 29, 2012 -> 07:05 AM) Find the time. Boiled chicken tastes like s***. There are so many healthy, low fat, not to mention very tasty meals you can be eating, none of which contain any sort of boiled meat. You're finding the time to work out and exercise, find the time to cook right, too...boiled chicken. Yuck. I'd rather just eat "normal" high fat meals if that was the only "diet" alternative available. The chicken is usually added in with a ton of other things so I don't even taste it, it's just kind of there. Not ideal, but it works for a college student. QUOTE (iamshack @ Mar 29, 2012 -> 08:43 AM) Another suggestion is making homemade soup....you can make a big pot of it with a bunch of vegetables and some stew meat and it can last you for 6-8 meals. Takes 2 hours or so... That's probably the most economical and efficient way to tackle it, although it does get repetitive. Yea I may look into this more, I'm actually a pretty good cook as long as I have the time to mess around. Just gets tough balancing work/school/college life all while trying to workout more.
  7. Im actually quite good on the grill, it's just finding the time (I only have one of the smaller Weber grills, so doing the amount of chicken I usually cook at once, around 5 pounds, takes a few hours usually including prep and clean up while boiling takes 30 mins max). I love to marinade chicken breasts in lemon juice and fresh garlic over night then grilling it, so tender and tasty, great for fajitas. My apartment makes these "diet" meals which are tupperware containers with brown rice and cut up boiled chicken that you can pull out to make an individual meal, which is where the fried rice/meal 2 comes from typically. The usual way of eating it is cooking the eggs on the side and microwaving the tupperware container then adding cottage cheese and spices to taste.
  8. That's the goal, but mostly to cut down on fat so I've been looking into alternatives for the cheese since that's where most of my fat comes from and I should be getting enough from the eggs. I don't always have the chicken, since I get tired of the boiled chicken taste/dryness that results from freezing it after cooking it.
  9. Looking for some good healthy meal ideas, I currently eat the following: Meal 1: 2 or 3 scrambled eggs (max of 2 yolks) no oil or butter. sprinkle of cheddar cheese toasted whole wheat bread Sriracha or some other sauce Meal 2: 3/4 cup cooked brown rice 2 eggs scrambled zero calorie wing sauce boiled chicken breast (put it all in a pan to cook together) The 2nd meal I also make in a fried rice fashion, but with no oil or butter but with some frozen veggies and different low cal sauces/seasonings. Im looking for stuff that can be made quickly, or added to these meals to change them up a bit. I also eat lots of salad (with limited dressing) and have been trying to eat more vegetables and fruits (especially those that fall under the negative calorie category). I also drink a protein shake after working out.
  10. QUOTE (farmteam @ Mar 28, 2012 -> 09:21 PM) Is Matta really going to retire that soon? He's not that old. Rock just posted an article going into the severe back issues he has, including losing feeling in a foot and needing a brace just to walk on it. That's not something you can really just deal with as a coach, it's something that can permanently stop him from continuing.
  11. A "friend" on facebook posted this: This kid says the most ridiculous things.
  12. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Mar 28, 2012 -> 04:57 PM) No offense, but I see zero top 10 classes which he apparently recruited all of. Now this is a guy people would rather have coaching instead of a guy who was recruiter of the year, delivered, as an assistant, the #1 class in the country (or #2) and has head coaching experience as well as tournament victories. I hope to hell the people calling for him to be head coach are kidding. I can understand the reason to want to keep him around, he very well could be the coach after this next one. But yea, right now he's bottom of the barrel really.
  13. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Mar 28, 2012 -> 04:42 PM) I know nothing about that person, why is he such an asset? Former Illini, connects well with the players, recruits well in Chicago. He has the chance to be a solid coach in the future, but he is very very young at this point.
  14. QUOTE (Brian @ Mar 28, 2012 -> 04:05 PM) If Illinois were to win a conference tournament, that would mean they would probably be a top 3 seed in conference and from then on, winning said conference tourney would propel them to maybe a #4 seed in the tournament and an Elite 8 game maybe. Its just funny that some Illini fans think they are too good for Groce. That cracks me up. I do think Groce's pedigree is a bit lacking from what you would want at Illinois, but Thomas has proven at Cincy that he could evaluate these up and comers from mid major schools very well, and so I just have to trust him on his judgment for now. It also helps when many people that know Groce and his background love him and think he'll do great here.
  15. I had no idea this was happening.
  16. So many people are at fault, which is what makes this situation so bad. It's not just one guy messing it all up, but everyone. It just goes to show how bad the university is right now in terms of leadership.
  17. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Mar 27, 2012 -> 02:37 PM) It's been filled with leaks, alumni turning on us, tons of negative press, everyone saying no to the point that a Big Ten program may hire a MAC guy, and reports that coaches don't want to work with Thomas himself. Illinois still doesn't have a coach as it now appears the AD is on a different page than the people he needs approval from. I don't think it could go much worse. Is not being on the same page as the BOT really a bad thing right now? They seem to be the fault for many of the problems the school/program is running into now. Personally, I like my AD fighting for what he thinks is the right move compared to what the BOT, who haven't run an athletic department, thinks is right.
  18. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Mar 27, 2012 -> 02:25 PM) I'll give him a chance. But this entire process has been shameful whether or not the coach works out or not. I think Thomas is getting way too much blame here, obviously he had his guys that he wanted but the BOT f***ed around with his ability to go after those guys. And it seems most of the leaks came from the BOT.
  19. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Mar 27, 2012 -> 02:13 PM) They'll start off decent, but with some growing pains in the bullpen and on defense. By May they'll be in the race, and stay there near until August, ans the team starts to gel and hit. Peavy pitches surprisingly well, almost like old Peavy... Dunn has a big comeback year... Beckham does better than last year but still not quite there... and Rios sucks, but Fukudome takes more playing time. Then Peavy, Sale and possibly Humber start to feel the wear of massively increased innings, and start to dog down and struggle. One or two might even be shut down or moved to the pen, replaced by Molina or Axelrod or Castro. The team fades through September, but is on the outside edge of the WC race until the last week. 82-85 wins, and about 5 games short of the 2nd wildcard. This is pretty close to how I see the season going.
  20. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Mar 27, 2012 -> 01:16 PM) Looks like it. Thomas has completely messed this situation up. He needs to be gone if Groce is the hire. BTW, really!? Give him some time, he's dealing with the BOT on top of the program being down, not to mention the state of funding from the state. You have to give anyone that comes in a chance, than judge Thomas' decision.
  21. My guess is that he wants a year or two off before going back to coaching. Unfortunately the SIU job is open now.
  22. I saw a list of schools that Theus went after only to get passed over, that list was not full of prime basketball schools.
  23. QUOTE (gatnom @ Mar 27, 2012 -> 01:46 PM) Also, Theus wasn't good enough for DePaul or Nebraska, why does anybody want him at U of I? Yea give me Groce over Theus any day of the week.
  24. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Mar 27, 2012 -> 12:27 PM) That is the only reason I can think that Jerrance would leave, feeling slighted that they picked Groce over him. I still think Collins is better than Groce, but well never know. Jerrance is being ridiculous than, Groce has a much better pedigree than him. Collins would be a decent look at, but Thomas always hires head coaches, not assistants.
  25. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Mar 27, 2012 -> 12:24 PM) LOL, now we've officially gone off the deep end. Seriously. I get Groce isn't a sexy hire, but you have to trust Thomas and his ability to evaluate coaching talent in the lesser conferences. He's done it before, and now we have to see if it's legit or he just got lucky beforehand. We went after the big names, and they didn't want to come here, for whatever reason (probably because the school admin is f***ED up right now). Thus, we have to rely on Thomas and his ability to pick good, young talented coaches.
