Bartolo Colon anybody? 242 innings? 15 wins? Great down the stretch? HELLLLLLO!!!!! That's the one that hurts the most. Given, we had virtually no shot at retaining his fat ass, but someone is going to have to fill his shoes, and I have no doubt in my mind that his loss will hurt the most.

Son of a b****, it changes like every 3 seconds.

Oh well. It's still looking good. When did it go up, and don't tell me like 2 days ago. I bet it went up like 3 hours ago, didn't it?
-
Look what their doing to one of their own is right, especially since it is NOT his fault they did not make the World Series. But the scapegoat always has to be the innocent one, huh? Hey Cubs fans, ever hear of Alex Gonzalez, Mr. Stonehands? What a bunch of b****es.

Did he need a nap break or something? He's going really slow. Anyways, regarding the possibility of losing Konerko...I'm saying that he is easily replaced. You trade for Martinez, McGriff, Simon, Casey...etc, and we'll be fine for a little bit, and then any of the above are gone after this year if we choose not to resign them(and I see no reason, if we were to do something like that, why we would resign Martinez, McGriff, or Casey, however, I could see Simon being resigned, especially if Konerko were traded). I hope he has a great year, however, I won't count on it. He hasn't shown he can be a huge force offensively since the first half of the 2002 season...that was a season and a half ago. I hope he does, and I hope he can atleast earn some of his $7.5 mill, however, I have my doubts. I'm as excited as anyone on here about baseball coming back, but I will not let myself get too optimistic.

Not sure who said it, but someone was interviewed afterwards, and said if the Cubs don't make it to the World Series this year...and then trailed off. I think he meant to say if the Cubs don't make it to the World Series this year, they most likely never will. I tend to agree. Their rotation is the best in the majors, they have a good bullpen, their offense is solid, they have a decent bench, and they have a good manager. If they do not make it to the World Series, fans of the team on the Southside wil rejoice everywhere.

Cheat, or to everyone in general, when bringing up women, why not bring up Meredith Brooks(I think it is) with the song "b****." I can't say I liked it myself(I could never see myself singing "I'm a b****", but maybe that's just me), but it seemed like an OK song, and seemed to be pretty popular at the time if memory serves correctly.

Player A's career numbers... .213 2 17 20 SB's(2 CS) .255 OBP, .262 SLG% which equals a career .517 OPS in 324 career at bats. Player B's 2003 season... .264 24 96 23 SB's(3 CS), .327 OBP, .453 SLG% which equals a .780 OPS. Player A is quite obviously Willie Harris, player B is quite obviously Aaron Boone. Adding to the fact that Aaron Boone is only insurance in case Willie sucks this year and cannot be depended on next year. If we signed him, and Willie did in fact pan out and play well, making it so that we could count on him for next year, we could then trade Aaron Boone and get some type of value out of him, all in all only having to pay $500,000 for him(if we signed him to a 2-year, $4 mill deal, $3.5 mill in 05). BTW, just for the record, I have never wanted Jose out of a White Sox uniform...I just didn't want him back at $5 mill. Also, a reason people want Jose out has to do with his .131 average(14 for 107) with a .386 OPS as a right-handed batter.

I barely remember saying that, but I do recall saying it nonetheless. Hey, what can I say, I was thinking like the manager.

Lieber already having health problems
witesoxfan replied to southsideirish's topic in Pale Hose Talk
His stats are better. I'm talking about the fact that Jon Lieber has been a work horse and has put up very good numbers while not having an ego. Mark Prior once said something to the extent of "I am a little bit of Nolan Ryan and a little bit of Roger Clemens." To me, that says you could pop his head with a needle, and you could then watch him fly away. He is the type of person that was the reason people came up with terms like "jagoff/jackoff" and "asshole" -
Lieber already having health problems
witesoxfan replied to southsideirish's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Agreed. He is one former Cub that I would not have minded signing. I would rather have him and his non-existant ego then have Mark "I'm a mix of Nolan Ryan and Roger Clemens" Prior. -
Agreed. He said "I do feel contractually there is a respect level for what you have done for so many years and I don't feel I'm [getting] that right now ... but I can't complain about the money I make." To me that says "I feel I am being disrespected by the team because of what they are paying me. Konerko will makes $1.5 mill more then me, yet, he is a worse all-around player then me, other then throwing the ball around. Carlos Lee is due to make $15 mill over the next 2 years...are they saying he is worth more to this team then me? And Magglio Ordonez is making $14 mill, and while he is a great player, he is either not worth $14 mill, or I am worth more then $6 mill, considering I did have a better year then him last year offensively." Personally, I feel anyone would feel this way. If you and two buddies are working at McDonalds and you are getting $6 an hour and you can flip 50 patties per minute along with being able to wrap 20 sandwiches in a minute, though you are not the best with customer service. One of your buddies(let's call him Ted), is getting $7.50 an hour but can only flip 40 patties per minute and can only wrap 15 sandwiches a minute, and he is just a little better then you as far as customer service is concerned. Your other buddy(let's call him Jim Bob) can flip 60 patties a minute and can wrap 25 sandwiches in a minute, but is making $11.50 an hour. If you went to your boss, would you not have a legit beef(no pun intended, because McDonalds hamburgers probably aren't even made of beef anyways )? Given, I am talking about a little dough for some grub and leisurely spending now and then in my analogy, while Frank Thomas, Paul Konerko, and Magglio Ordonez are multi-millionares because they can play a children's game very, very well. However, I think it gets the general principle out there. He does have a right to talk about this. The way he words it though, and the way people look at it, they can see it as whining, and while they may not be wrong, you should atleast look at both sides of something before reacting. He said "I told people I was the first player last year to have a guaranteed contract taken away and I was bitter about it ... but you know what? I got over it." To me, he is saying to the reporters "they took money from me that was mine...big deal, I still have more money than all your asses will ever see" only not with the stuckup portrayal...or if he were being nice, he is basically saying I have all the money I need, though I'm mad they took other money away from me, however, it's over and done with. They did give me a $1 million loan, so I should be thankful for that. I agree with Yas and I therefore I also agree with cw...this is a non-issue, but people are trying to make it into one. Don't, and it will go away.

Shoot, I had forgotten about Staley...you are probably right about that. Also, IMO, if Casserly is smart, he would probably take the Bills 2nd round pick this year. It is higher then Cowboys is(no duh), but both teams could very likely improve next year record wise, so I could see both teams' second round picks getting worse next year too. IMO, if he is smart, he takes the Bills 2nd round pick.
-
That agents ass is grass. What a dips***. Now the 49ers could probably get a 1st round pick, and I would guess most likely from Tampa Bay, or maybe a 1st and 2nd/3rd from Philly. I could easily see either happening.
-
Sign him to a Jon Lieber deal, and we could be in buisness. We know one of these two things will happen... 1.) Willie Harris will play well enough to be counted on for next year 2.) Willie Harris will suck this year and we'll need someone new next year Under either circumstance, I sign Boone, if I can, to a two-year deal worth about $4-5 mill...that would be $500,000 this year and $3.5-$4.5 next year. I do this mainly because we have an insurance plan if Harris does suck, but also because if Willie does do well, we can then trade Boone and get some value out of him(while only paying $500,000).
-
And you're not joking? Konerko's a good player, and everyone knows that. However, he could be easily replaced. Bring in Tino Martinez from Tampa, bring in Fred McGriff from Tampa(I know I'm going to get grilled for that one, but as a replacement player, he'd be OK for atleast a little time), and there are way more out there that I'm just not thinking of. Now, if we lost Maggs/Buehrle/Loaiza/Thomas/Marte(to an extent)...knock on wood...then my hopes would go down the drain.

And Bonds responds... (courtesy Yahoo)
-
If he has to change his number again, he's going to 00
-
I hope so. If it does happen, we should all rip into him, but not with profane replies, just well-thought out letters written to him, asking why he will not respond. And let's have everyone plug Soxtalk.

I have seen it and I think it is cool as hell. And most probably can't tell, but if you know anything about bowling and how to make a ball hook, or "curve" as some call it, like Randy Johnson does, you would know that that is superimposed as well. When he's standing on the approach getting ready to go into his motion, he holds the ball with a conventional grip. He then sends the ball out to the left and brings it back about 20-25 boards, and rips the pins apart. I'm a decent bowler, and I can do that on a good day when the lanes are dry, while using a fingertip grip, where only your fingertips, and not your whole fingers, are in the ball. You need to get some serious turn on the ball to do that with fingertips, and the way he throws it, there is no way in hell he could get it to turn that much, unless his thumb is completely out of the ball, and if that were so, he would have little control of it on the backswing. There's your bowling lesson for the day. Also, Agassi's looks a little cheesy, but is cool nonetheless.

Lithium...hell, that's a song I listen to on a regular basis now a days...in fact, you can see a quote from it in my sig. And Breakfast at Tiffany's...done by Deep Blue Something, I believe.

I'll include the Dakotas, both North and South, as well: :fyou :fyou :fyou :fyou :fyou :fyou :fyou :fyou What a f***ing assclown. The least he could do is give a response back slightly explaining this garbage that he and the Sun-Times calls a column. Sox fans like him; ha, April Fools Day has come early. Yas puts together probably something Jay hasn't seen in a while, a quality writing, and he just puts it in the trash can. Mariotti = biggest dickface on the planet. And just for good cause, from us all, once again... :fyou
