March Madness first round upsets

I agree it can happen. But, as a comparison, I personally like Liberty's chances of becoming the first #16 seed ever to win then I do of Valpo's chances of beating Gonzaga. -
No. We don't need ANOTHER $5-6 million risk. We already have two on board in Koch and Konerko.
-
You ditch us for 5-6 months and then you expect us to just open our arms and say "Welcome back Heather!" ? :finger OK, I guess. Welcome back

That could be a boring ass league unless you are in it with friends. I was in a 4-team league in my rookie season(was expecting more to join but the commish was a dumbass and closed the regisration for the league, and I was a dumbass and didn't drop out of the league), and I was the only active owner come July, and by September I had grown to not checking the team.

And then you woke up. Sorry, couldn't resist. -
How fast will he turn him into a starter? Do you mean a respectable QB in the league or the starting QB of the Dallas Cowboys? The answer to both questions is Week 1 of the regular season. MHO anyways Matt...I agree fully. I've read that Pittsburgh has had a ton of interest in Roethlisberger, but the odds of him falling that far are very small. Just as a question, what do you think the odds are that the Steelers will try to move up and get a top 3 pick, maybe trading Burress and their first rounder to Oakland or San Diego even?

I'd agree with the possibility of those. I also want to say that if Saint Joe's comes out and shoots like s*** again and Liberty plays a virtual mistake-free game, this could be a chance for a #16 seed has to take out a #1 seed. If that happens, it will be close. -
They'll sell out 22 games. 3 against the Cubs, 3 against the Yankees, 6 against Minnesota, 4 against KC, and then 6 more on other various games(bobblehead, other big series, etc). That's my magic number.

I believe so too. I think it will just take a bit of time, and he will be ready. He just needs a couple years to get that swing shortened up and he will be good to go.

I can't remember what it was exactly, but it may have been something along those lines. However, the thing is, if you are going to play Pena everyday, where are you going to play him? I can see it if you deal Dunn or Casey, but if you're not, you have Kearns and Dunn in LF/RF, Griffey in CF, and Casey at 1B. Now, if you deal Casey, you move Dunn to 1B and Pena to the the OF spot that opens up. If you move Dunn, you then do the same as before. I think that's what they should do, but it can't be easy to unload Casey. Consider the apparent trouble we are having unloading Konerko, and the fact that Konerko is a better player then Casey(IMO) as well as the fact that Casey is very, very injury prone. That leaves them Dunn. I think they should try and get Perez and Hanrahan out of LA for him. If LA doesn't take it, deal him elsewhere. That's pretty much all you can do.

I've heard Caray-Pierce in the 80s was a very good combo. It's too bad not more people know that Harry Caray was a play-by-play guy for the Sox. From what I've been told, he was with the Sox in his prime, and fizzled out with the Cubs.

That happened on Saturday when they were talking to Santo. To put it plainly, I was pissed as hell. They went the whole at bat without saying who was up.

He has good enough stuff to have been a first round pick by the Giants(I am probably mistaken, but wasn't it like the 4th overall that year? For some reason I am thinking that, not sure why), and was good enough to be part of the trade that brought Rob Nen and Livan Hernandez(a year or two after his World Series dominance) over to San Fran. He's got good stuff, that's all I know, and quite frankly, that's all I care. However, he is injury prone, which is why he become a member of the White Sox for practically nothing.
-
And he still won't hit his worth. If the right offer came up(like, say, if we're lucky, a Konerko for Perez deal), I would take it in a second, and I would hope that KW would too. A Randall Simon could be acquired for next to nothing(except the second coming, also known as Bobby Hill )

Because the organization would prefer that Joe Borchard get consistent, everyday playing time then having to rot on the MLB bench. I agree with the organization's decision. However, I wouldn't mind seeing Mario Valenzuela come up and take that spot if he plays well enough to earn it. I want to see him get a shot. BTW, a good example of a team calling up a good prospect and letting him rot on the bench is Cincinatti bringing up Wily Mo Pena and using all his options up right away. He is a tremendous talent, but has had no time to develop sitting on his ass watching baseball.

Cotts made 2 bad pitches all day, the one where he hit Jackson, and the hanging curveball to Goodwin(I'm pretty sure that's the pitch Goodwin got the hit on). Otherwise, I was very pleased with both of their performances.

Sounds fine to me. -
Probably 3 consecutive last place finishes.
-
Could you imagine a conversation between Frank, Ozzie, and Shingo? I think that would be fun to see personally.

Golfing. You bastard :finger We still got snow on the ground up here.
-
Because you do not like the Illini/college basketball/you actually do not mind the Cubs? For the record, I voted Illini.

This year baby!!! White Sox-Cubs World Series. -
They'll need to trade up to get Roethlisberger, and quite frankly, I'm not sure what they have to trade that Arizona or New York or Washington would want. The Cards could probably use a decent halfback, but would they take McGahee and probably the first rounder for him, or would they just want Henry? I don't think there is any chance they can get SD's pick or Oakland's pick, and I don't think Detroit will trade their #6 pick and a chance at Sean Taylor. And another thing that comes up with this is that if they were to get New York's or Washington's or Detroit's pick, they would be playing a little Russian Roulette with the chance of Arizona taking Roethlisberger too. I'm sure they'd still be able to get Mike Williams or Fitzgerald with that pick, but you can't be so sure it'd fall. Also, I'd imagine that Cleveland would probably take him with 7 if he fell that far, but with Garcia there and Holcomb as the backup, I think it'd be kind of hard to move Holcomb to #3 QB, though they could always trade him elsewhere for a late-round pick. Kind of hard to say right now It's either that, or draft Losman in the second round(if he falls that far). Damnit, that really pisses me off. I had figured they'd send a 2nd round pick to Houston. My only guess is that they wouldn't have been able to get a deal worked out. s*** this is still pissing me off. :puke I want to use this smiley ----> :fyou but I don't know who to use it on.

I think the whole Sox fans' obsessions over the Cubs losing is due to the media bias. The media tends to make the Cubs look like they can do no wrong, while they tend to make the Sox look very bad. Because of this, some Sox fans like to point out when the Cubs do wrong, and this cycle continues on. After a while, the Sox fan gets in the habit of pointing out all the things the Cubs do wrong, and it can probably grow to extremes, like pointing out that the Cubs lost in ST. Personally, I detest the Cubs, mainly because of the media bias...but if they lose in ST, big f***ing deal. We lose in ST too, and the Twins lose in ST too, hell every team loses in ST. And every team loses games during the year too, in fact, every team loses atleast 55 or 60, and some way more(like 90 or 100 times for the bad ones, or 119 times for the awful ones). However, I've grown to accept that this year the Cubs will probably be a good team, and they could be one of the best, if not they best, team in the majors. I think we'll be pretty damn good too, but, unless Jon Garland/Scott Schoenweis/Dan Wright/Jason Grilli/etc has a breakthrough year, we'll probably need a good starter at the trade deadline(I can only hope we could get Kipper back). To get back on topic, Jay Mariotti is an assclown, as well as a dumbass. And the Cubs lost today...WOOHOO!
