f***ing Pacific. Lost my first sweet 16 team.
-
It doesn't to me. Rauch is never going to get a shot here, and Koch is making $6 mill(and I believe Washburn is making about $5.5 mill this year, and is then a FA), so it gives us about $1 mill in spending room. It allows us to keep a different reliever on board(or allows us to go to a 11-man pitching staff) and then bring up Burke as a 3rd catcher or maybe a backup 3B or 1B every now and then too, and then when necessary, allows us to add a player via trade without shaking up the rosters too incredibly much. Wouldn't bother me a bit, in fact, it would actually make me happy. Give Rauch a chance to prove what he can do. I actually like it when players do that kind of thing. Remember Esteban beating the Jays last year? That's the kind of reassuring feeling these guys get when they burn their former teams. And, to an extent, allows us to maybe get a good player via trade from them later for a lesser price because they feel that they are once again getting a good player when really they are not(which is why the Ritchie trade could come into play with the Pirates this year if Konerko is ever traded and/or we need another stud starter...I would love absolutely nothing more then to trade Konerko for a solid minor leaguer to say the Dodgers, and then trade a 2 or 3 prospects to Pittsburgh for Wells and Simon...that would be tight as hell)

That makes a lot of sense.

Use them both and have a 6-man rotation. OK, just kidding. I'd say Wright, but keep Grilli on the big league club and use him out of the bullpen. He could be a valuable piece to the pen as a middle reliever. BTW, since when did long relief become such a big issue? Long relief is usually also translated as mopup guy, because a starter got rocked and someone had to come in and provide some damage control. Keep them both on the 25-man and you have your long relief no matter what.

Let me try and break this down, figure out why he doesn't want to go to these teams. Blue Jays - They're in Canada Brewers - Small payroll team, not very competitive Devil Rays - Small payroll team, not very competitive...and then the Florida thing from below too. Expos - Small payroll team along with being in Canada Indians - Small payroll team, probably won't be competitive until 2005 at the earliest Marlins - ???, your guess is as good as mine. Maybe he doesn't want to play in Florida? Mets - s***ty team Twins - Small payroll team, small market too That's my best guesses. BTW, that Canada remark...that is not meant to be offensive to our resident Canadiens. I think that is honestly the reason...maybe it has to do with citizenship, I'm not sure exactly. Probably the same reason why Percival will not accept a trade to either Canadien team too.

I would take all of them over Buehrle but Clement Not saying Clement is a bad option, just saying that's how good I think the Cubs rotation actually is. Of course, Dusty Baker will figure out someway to mess it up again this year
-
Trade him to Anaheim along with Koch for Jarrod Washburn. Hey, maybe it could work.
-
He probably is, but I honestly have no clue. He was a LFer last year, he can play 3B...hell for all I care, he can probably due cart wheels and back flips while drinking a cup of coffee.

Atleast 3 years. Sometimes further. It's like they're living in 20th century.

989 sports games suck ass. They should just go under and quit embarassing themselves.
-
Sweet, now I can sell my piece of s*** for $70-80 and get one that actually works on a consistent basis.
-
I think if he fell to them in the second round they snatch him up in a heartbeat and trade A-Train for either a 3rd or 4th round pick this year or next year. Either that or they don't trade ATrain and use he and Jones as a hell of a 2-back combo and release Jones next year.

I like the twisting of the details to make your argument work. Nice job. Maggs didn't hit 30 homers or drive in 100 runs last year, you are correct. He hit 29 homers and drove in 99 runs, and that was the worst year of his career since his true rookie season. The year before he had a nice .320 38 135 .980 OPS season...well worth the $6.5 mill he made. You compare Maggs to Pujols, and really, that is not a valid argument. It is almost comparing apples to oranges, but not quite, so we'll say comparing tangerines to oranges. They are both OFers, and both are very good OFers...but Pujols is, when everything is considered, quite possibly the best player in the game, and Maggs is a top 10 OFer...player is a broader field then OFer. Maggs might be a top 50 player. Also, Pujols signed his first contract, which is his first 3 years in the league, and no one gets a huge contract in the first 3 years of their career...not Pujols big anyways. You consider that after Pujols's contract is up(assuming he stays healthy and continues to improve), he could make $16-20 mill a year. It is almost unfair to compare Pujols to anybody in the majors but Bonds. Comparing Maggs to Vlad Guerrero is much more valid, and you consider that Vlad got $15 mill a year and he is a little better then Maggs, and I'd say Maggs is worth $12-$13 mill a year, which is a slight improvement, because if I am remembering correctly, Maggs signed a 3-year $29.5 mill deal, which is just under $10 mill a year. If he were to refuse $13 mill a year, it would really be sad.

Just as a quick question...how many of you selected Juan Uribe or Willie Harris in your fantasy draft? ..... ..... Yeah, that's what I thought.
-
He can be play CF, and quite frankly, if I had to choose, that's where I'd rather have him be. His speed shows up in his defense much more vividly out there then it does at 2B. On a bad day, Harris's range in CF is as good as Rowand's is on a good day. However, Harris's arm is not very strong, which is his major knack when playing CF. I personally have little doubt in my mind that if Rowand has a good season and Lee does not put up great numbers(which is expected of him), he could very well be part of a deal that gets us a good starter at the deadline, and Harris could then move to CF with Rowand moving to LF.
-
Unless we move Koch in the deal, hell no. I think I'll take my chances on Scho rather then have Kris Benson's $6.2 mill contract and his injury proneness and his less-then-mediocre results(5-9 4.97 in 105 innings...for $6 mill, no thanks). BTW, regarding players sucking in ST...IT IS SPRING f***ING TRAINING. I think I've said that about 5 times, and many others have said it as well. If he sucks in the regular season, it will be dealt with.

Does anyone know how to contact Yahoo!?

It happened to be with Alex Sanchez. During the draft for league 2, I wanted to check something out(I can't remember if it was comparing Sanchez to someone else, but I wanted to look it up anyways), and I put in sanchez and nothing came up. I really don't want to type in "S-ALT+160-nchez". That's a little ridiculous if you ask me -
Did your friend select Mike Remlinger, LaTroy Hawkins, Kyle Farnsworth, and Joe Borowski as his bullpen?
-
I haven't checked my bracket yet, but I gotta say one thing. G-Mac is G-money. Holy s*** was that a hell of a game for Gerry McNamara. What was it, like 43 points and nine 3-pointers? That is insane.
-
Maybe the Bears will get lucky and he'll slip to 14 in the second round.
-
Ozzie said in the article "it won't be everyday" regarding Uribe's playing time. However, I think it will be come July.
-
Not only that, but it is much, much easier to find a good hitting 3Bman over a good hitting 2Bman.
-
Holy s***...if I was reading that right, there were 2 16-17 year olds playing on that team. That is crazy-ass s***.
-
The thing I look at is that Chavez is an elite 3Bman, and really, Maggs is too. The difference between a Magglio Ordonez and a Reggie Sanders isn't just in the numbers. When you watch the game, it seems that Maggs(and Eric Chavez and Bonds, Sosa, Giambi, etc) just for some reason has a prescence about him and he can just take over a game. To me, that was the difference between Bartolo Colon and Esteban Loaiza last year, and that is why Colon does deserve $10 mill a year(not damn near $13 mill a year that Anaheim is giving him though) and Esteban not quite so much. That is part of the reason why Halladay won the Cy Young and Esteban didn't, even though Esteban quite possibly had better numbers. Anyways, that's kind of goofy, but it seems like, to an extent, it is true. Also, you have to also compare him to Vlad Guerrero and the contract he got, and compare their numbers, you'd see that Vlad beats him as well. So Maggs probably isn't worth $15 mill a year. I'd say he's definately worth $12-13 mill though.
