You have to admit that Maggs is more valuable to the Sox then Lee though.

It makes no sense to me because it is way over my head and I just don't understand this yet.

I'm liking my chances at not losing a team tonight. Already got UConn and OK State through, can't lose in the Cuse-Bama game(as I had Stanford going to the Elite 8, beating Cuse in the sweet 16), and Wake is looking good over St Joes.

Just to reiterate points about Malone and Meaux...Malone is out until 2005 with Tommy John surgery, and Meaux is like 25 or 26 and is in AA ball, which is very old to be a prospect. Anyways, I voted Reed. It's talking about our top prospect right now...hmm, that's a toughie.

There goes their chance at a 3-peat!

Barry Bonds also needed a change of scenery to really blossom into the superstar he is today too. Does that help?

I went Twins on this. Steve has brought up their losses(Hawkins, Guardado, Milton, Pierzynski, and one Steve did not mention, Dustan Mohr went to SF as well), and while Milton and Mohr made very limited contributions to their club last year, the others still hurt quite a bit. They have been replaced though. The Sox lost Colon, Gordon, Everett, Alomar, Sullivan, Graffy, and if you want, Daubach too. However, the only key losses were Colon and Gordon. Gordon has been replaced and then some(our pen last year was Wunsch, Marte, Gordon, Koch, White, and I believe Glover going into opening day last year...this year, Wunsch, Marte, and Koch return from last year, and Politte being the only lock for the team really, then we pick 2-3 from a group of Jackson, Grilli, Adkins, Shingo, Ginter, and possibly others as well. You give me any combination of those 5 to fill ou the pen, and I like it more then our pen last year. However, the key loss from last year is Colon. He put up less then stellar stats(15-13 3.87), however, we have to replace his 242 innings. I think those are easily replaced. Garland will probably throw 200 innings this year, Buehrle will throw 230-240 again this year, Loaiza will throw anywhere from 180-190 or 220-230...we'll have to see. Also, Scho will probably throw 180-200, and Wright will throw 180-200, and those innings that we get from Wright will probably be enough just from our #5 spot to replace Colon's 242 innings. Add to that the new man in charge brings in an attitude that is second to none in how good it is, and I don't think our offseason was all that bad, even with the very few moves we actually made.

I'm not sure who Juan reminds me of, but personally, I would not say Ray Durham. Ray Durham proved had very good plate discipline, and is one of the better leadoff hitters in the game due to his all around game offensively. IIRC, he had something like 72 XBH's in his last full season with Chicago, 2001(something like 20 homers, 42 doubles, and 10 triples...that may be a little off, as it was off of the top of my head, but it is very close to that), he had an OBP of .380-.400, stole 30 bases a year consistently...I mean, plain and simple, he was and still is a great leadoff hitter. Juan Uribe doesn't have the great plate discipline, and according to his career major league production thus far, he has showed very little power. However, that could change easily, and maybe all he needed was a change of scenary. I do also think he is the starting 2Bman before it is all said and done. I would guess by June he is. However, if he is putting up mediocre numbers, I could see a trade of Harris/Uribe and some prospects for Vidro in Montreal.

You're not the only one who wishes that.

Another pet peeve of mine is in the weight room. When someone is cleaning off their bar like after they get done benching or squatting and then they put a weight on the wrong rack. It pisses me off an incredible amount when someone puts a 5 lb weight on the 10 lb rack. It's like, hey dumbass, take an extra second and put it on the right rack.

Why are the red Sox and White Sox
witesoxfan replied to Mathew's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
I think it also had something to do with headlines in newspapers. Before, as said before, it was Stockings, but that is a mouthful and took a lot of headline space, so then they changed it to as short as they could, Sox. -
Speaking of the devil itself....we were just talking about trading Cruz in a different thread, and that if he gets his head on straight, he will be a great pitcher. Who better to get his head on straight then Leo Mazzone? This is a STEAL. I bet Cruz is one of the better young pitchers in the game within 3 years. And once again, Atlanta robs Chicago of a good, young gun(this time, without the track record).

Just curious...where did we get this Dransfeldt fellow? Has he always been with us, or was he a signing/ ST NRI?

Wow, if she wouldn't remember something like that, I would wonder if she would even remember people's names. So does she remember your name?

It is a trivia game(I believe). Here is a link to the "official" thread. Linky Never played it myself though.

That one team...the Chicago White Sox this year baby. But just to add to your argument...the Yankees have been to the playoffs 8 straight years for a reason.

Grammy did it again? I told her to stop when she told me the story of doing it in 1952 when she was just a young lady. I think I'm going to go cry now. And obviously I am joking. Both of my grandmothers live in small towns in South Dakota.

Also, I think I'm going to get a vanity plate for my beauty. How does "WITESOX" look to everyone here? Cuz it looks nice as hell to me.

MORE physical trouble for Prior
witesoxfan replied to KipWellsFan's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
Exactly. And I think if he did pitch on a good team that let him start, he'd probably put up better numbers then that even. He is just messed up as hell in the head right now. -
I believe he may be talking about Rick Hummel. Tim Hummel was traded, you are correct, to Cincinatti for Scott Sullivan. I was thinking he was taken by Texas, but they took Webster, Rupe, and Francisco kid that we got from Boston

My guess would be that with Jackson, those are not his earned runs. He has given up 5 runs, 4 of them earned. 4 ER in 6 IP is an ERA of 6.00...4(# of ER allowed)*9(number of innings in a game)=36/6(number of innings pitched)=6.00 ERA.

Dammit, I always forget Honel. He's solid too.

It's all in a hard day's night.

I thought you gave up Soxtalk for lent. Anyways, I like grapes, but not that much.
