They should let Maggs catch one game this year. See how it works. Anyways, I like it. That's all I'm going to say.

What do you mean by "ure"? also Which do you mean?

I do not plan on going to the message board, but here is my response to this... 1 - What has Matt Ginter done in the major leagues? What has Timo Perez done in the major leagues? To answer these questions in one sentence, Timo Perez has done a hell of a lot more then Matt Ginter. 2 - So what? It's not like the White Sox are the only team with first round busts. It happens all across the big leagues. 3 - Once again, refer to #2. 4 - Along with referring to #2, Corwin suffered from a little bit of Rick Ankiel-itis. A couple great years, and then total loss of control. 5 - Keith Foulke(who is now in Boston), Mark Johnson(who is now in Milwaukee), and Joe Valentine(who is now in Cincinatti) for Billy Koch(still in Chicago), Neal Cotts(still in Chicago), and Daylon Holt(who, last time I checked, was still with Chicago, and unless something happened to him, he is still with us). That one really worked out well for Oakland's long-term plan, didn't it? Oh wait a second, no it didn't. the follow up - Sure Rocky Biddle was dealt to Montreal along with Orlando Hernandez and Jeff Liefer, and Orlando Hernandez was acquired for Antonio Osuna and Delvis Lantigua(If I got his name right). Rocky Biddle's 34 saves were solid, but his 4.65 ERA and WHIP of 1.55 are, to put it plainly, bad, especially for a closer. Also, Rocky Biddle was dealt for a guy named Bartolo Colon. He was only 15-13 with a 3.87 ERA in 242 innings for the White Sox in 2003. So basically, the White Sox gave up very little for a rent-a-year player. The Royals have done that before though too, so it's nothing new to them(Rondell White via trade, Jose Lima via FA, etc). If you want to use that and take complete credit for it, go for it.

A Lil' Bit-O-Fun Before Sox's Season Starts

So plain, yet, so well-designed. What can I say, I dig the throwbacks. -
I watched it. Personally, I thought that it was just a bunch of Red Sox and Cubs fans b****ing and moaning about choking. They should be used to it by now. "My team just lost the ALCS/NLCS, so I'm going to go on ESPN and whine and whine and whine about it until I become so annoying that I'm even annoying myself" BTW, I watched it mainly to see Gonzalez boot that ground ball. That was probably the single greatest moment of that entire playoffs...and yes, even greater then Bartman's botch.
-
I'll probably miss about the first 3-4 innings, but should be home for the rest as I get out of school at 2:34 and get home usually at around 2:45.

Which shows you the flaws in FLDG% and RNGF. Almost anyone can tell you that Corey Patterson is a better defensive CFer then Carl Everett just by watching him. The fact that his FLDG% was worse(which could have something to do with him maybe throwing a ball poorly instead of botching a ball coming at him) instantly tells me that FLDG% is worse(which is also the argument made when comparing Jose Valentin and Royce Clayton, but that is so 2002). And if you are going to tell me that Carl Everett has more range in CF then Corey Patterson, you may as well throw that out the window as well. Statistics, while a very good indicator of how well a player plays the game, is not 100% and sometimes actually watching the game is necessary(though I am not suggesting you have not watched). This is especially true when comparing players defense.

I wish that, if I had a girlfriend, that she had those jobs. That would be sweet as hell to go to her "office" and see her half-naked. If only I could be as super as SuperSteve. Maybe if I drink Sprite I will be.

Know any good Bulls Message Boards?
witesoxfan replied to SoxFan1's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
Is it OK for me to ask the the words "good" and "Bulls" never be used in the same phrase again(or until they atleast break the .500 barrier again)? -
Agreed. And atleast Mateen ended his career a winner. Chris cannot say the same.
-
If you want, you can take this back right now and atleast I will forget you said it. If you have not by the beginning of the game on Monday, and UConn destroys Ga Tech like they probably will(if Okafor stays out of foul trouble, and UConn shoots half decently from the floor, Ga Tech is done, even with their depth), you will be eating some serious crow. Just so you can get a quick look at what will be dished out at you...

I have been waiting for someone to say something about that.

A Lil' Bit-O-Fun Before Sox's Season Starts

Donkey, I can't recall off the top of my head if this is it, but isn't it similar to this? If it is, I think that was their 70s and 80s logo. -
f*** Duke. Thanks to their b****asses, by bracket is f***ed up. I get the Final Four right, and what the f*** happens but Duke has to go and as dumb as a Cubs fan and lose the game I need to win. f*** DUKE! :fyou

As explained by UNS, K's are overrated. Jim Thome strikes out 180 times a year, but he also hits 50 homers a year. You going to tell me you are not going to take him because he strikes out a lot? Rowand isn't as patient at the plate as you imply, considering that he has drawn 34 walks in his career(as a note, he has 582 official at-bats). He is more patient than Patterson, but not by much. Regarding speed, Patterson can fly, Rowand can not. End of story. Just to make it clear, SBs are not a measure of speed. Cristian Guzman is one of the fastest guys in the league, and he has stolen a combined 30 bases over the past two seasons(though he has 92 overall in his career...maybe Gardenhire does not run as much as Kelly did?), while he has been caught 22 times in that stretch, so if you are scoring at home, he is 30 of 52, or a pitiful 57.7% in successful steals. Meanwhile, Paul O'Neill, in his final season with the Yankees in 2001, stole 22 bases and was caught only 3 times. Does that mean that O'Neill got faster as he got older, and he got so fast that he become faster than Cristian Guzman? I think not. I'm sure if I read a pitcher correctly and took off on an offspeed pitch enough times that I could steal 15-20 bases too. Anybody that has a little speed can do it. Why do you say Patterson has not played a full season? Doesn't his 2002 campaign of 153 games and 592 at-bats count? If I had to take a guess, and both Rowand and Patterson were available at this stage of their careers for the same price and you had the choice of taking either of them, and you took Rowand, you would be canned on the spot. I could very easily see Corey Patterson turning into a Carlos Beltran type player, and I would guess that at the very least a left-handed version of Reggie Sanders(who is valuable if you have them). I don't even see Rowand turning into that. I could maybe see Rowand turning into a right-handed Darin Erstad, though I don't think he would ever have a season where he got 240 hits. I would say that he could be a Felipe Alou-like player too if he turns into a hell of a player damn quickly. He could also be a Jeff Abbott his whole career, and never become a great hitter, and only be a 4th OFer. I still take Patterson over Rowand in a second.

Here's a damn good question...what makes you think Rogers has the Cubs listed as #1? For that matter, what makes you think Rogers has the Cubs listed as the best team in the NL Central? The Cubs are at #5, the Astros at #3. The defense is not "horrid"...it is probably not real good, but not terrible by any means. Their ace is hurt, and I don't know why you put double quotes around ace...Prior is quite possibly the best pitcher in the league(and I think he is). Clement isn't 100%...that's like us not having Wright at 100%. Big f***ing deal. They do not strike out too much(though they do strike out a lot). Striking out isn't that big of a deal anyways, so long as you put the ball in play most of the time. The Yankees strike out probably 1000-1100 times a year, yet they remain the best offense in the league. What does that say about K's? And Patterson is not a health question mark. I would take Patterson over Rowand in a heartbeat, even with Patterson's surgically repaired torn ACL. He looked fine in spring training. About their genius manager not knowing how to handle a pitching staff...I'm still waiting on an answer to my question to everyone in general...how many arms has Dusty Baker ruined(and I'm focusing on mainly starters...I realize Robb Nen, but Nen isn't a starter)? What I am saying by this is that you can hate the Cubs all you want...just do not look at them objectively. I dislike the Cubs, but I do realize they have a damn good chance at being pretty good this year. If they do go to the playoffs, win the NLDS, NLCS, and World Series, it will not surprise me in the least. In fact, nothing they do will surprise me
-
No it won't. 85-90 wins will.
-
No. That goes to Ncorgbl with his Tub-o-Goo threads.
-
Tell it like it is!
-
No. It is no different.
-
They are minor leaguers(as pointed out in the title of this thread, and also implied several times) If you do not care about the minor leagues, do not worry about them.

Can I have the end of the bet that says Pujols has another awesome year?
-
Yes Check either earlier on in Pale Hose Talk or the Sports Bar.
