Right back at ya To celebrate, I suggest you go out and play NTN and party(but not too hard) while watching old highlights of Michigan football.

Thank you. I just want to thank my family, my friends, and most importantly....MYSELF....for all 6,000 of my posts.

Ozzie was managing by the book. Matt Stairs killed RHP last year. He can't hit lefties. Common sense says to bring in the lefty. If Oz leaves Koch in there against Stairs, and Stairs hits it 10 miles, we are all wondering why Oz didn't bring in Marte. Hindsight is 20-20. Oz managed as well a game as you can. He just didn't get the results from his players.

I think so. No love for us non-doable ones around here. But you know, maybe being non-doable is good.

Actually, this is the one league that I am extremely happy with my team. -
UCONN VS. G.TECH NAT'L CHAMP. THREAD
witesoxfan replied to Ishmookie's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
Luke Schenscher. He's tall and clumsy...but he's a pretty good player. -
I don't think it was a hit and run. With the lead Konerko had, he was stealing. And he did just that. It was a good pitch to steal on too. Breaking ball low and in the dirt, and it was just slow enough to get Konerko to 2B. Konerko's my new favorite player. Let's trade him and say he is a 5-tool player.

Well said.

No. They've had a dumbass manager since 2000(actually 1998). Finally someone took the blindfold off and realized that Jerry Manuel was a douchebag. We now have a manager who is atleast halfway decent.

If losing one game is a big deal....what's going to happen when we lose 4 or 5 in a row? Donkey put it best. Also, Donkey, if you want... The DEVIL RAYS also won last Tuesday

Bingo! If only I could be doable...

I break 6000, and no one mentions it, but Steff breaks 7000 and everyone makes a big deal out of it. I wonder why?

Can I come?

I doubt we win tomorrow. This being true because we do not play tomorrow. Loaiza always starts off well, so I bet we see a very good performance on Wednesday. I guess a 5-1 win.

If we are 2001, this statement is correct. It is 2004, and this statement is false from the standpoint that he already is an ace. He has done his waiting. I wish we could have Kipper back. I would give damn near anything to have him back. In fact, this is the list of whom I would NOT trade for Kip Wells(these being minor leaguers of course...I wouldn't do something stupid like trade Maggs for him): Reed Honel Sweeney Anderson

I'd rather see him hit 96-97 with no control then 92 right down the middle. He was just letting it loose out there. Throwing his hardest. You won't have (much) control that way, but he's nothing without it. I wanted to see him do that all last year. He's still not worth $6 mill, but he'll put up better numbers then the 5.77 ERA he did last year. Maybe he'll be Antonio Osuna part deux.

Did you watch the game today? Because if you did, and you are not optimistic about what you saw... :headshake Tony, just so you know....you and I feel exactly alike right now. When Lopez hit that homer, I turned the TV off, and started to walk away, but didn't finish that last part. I sat back down, thinking maybe Damaso could pull it out, and I saw Beltran step up, hit the ball, and when I saw Caballo at the wall, I turned the TV off, and just sat in silence for about 5 minutes. Sometimes, it is better to be lucky then good, however, that s*** catches up with you in the end. I can guarantee you that if we play like we did and they play like they did that 9 out of 10 times we win.

You are wrong. Buehrle is a horse, considering he has averaged 230 innings the past 3 years. Loaiza will probably not give us as good of results as last year, but he will probably pick up some more innings. Garland will almost undoubtedly throw over 200 innings this year. Scott Schoenweis will get 175-200 innings in(unless of course he is demoted/traded, and those are very serious possibilities), and Dan Wright will throw more innings from the #5 spot then we had from the #5 spot all of last year and will be better then everyone we had from the #5 spot all of last year. I see the rotation easily picking up 1000 of the 1458 innings(give or take due to extra inning games and rain-shortened games), and they sure as hell could get 1100 of those innings(Buehrle throws 240, Loaiza gets 220, Garland gets 220, Scho gets 200, Wright gets 220), though I wouldn't count on it. That leaves the bullpen with 400-500 innings(or about 57-83 innings per reliever, and obviously, someone will have around 100 from the pen, and others around 50, and there will be others who are used in the pen who are sent down/traded/released). We will have no problem picking up Colon's innings at all if you ask me, and we will not go to the bullpen in the 6th or 7th inning every game. This was Buehrle first start of the season. Ozzie did the smart thing by not throwing him too much. Unless you are totally cruising and are in a complete zone out there, you will never go the distance on opening day. Steff, would you rather have Koch throwing 96 with no control, or throwing 92 right down the heart of the plate? Not sure about you, but I'll take door #1. Also, Politte damn near took Ken Harvey's head off 2-3 times in his at-bat. He was as bad as Billy Koch that inning. Agreed on Marte though.

I haven't read the board as much as I should have(so you will be able to use this on me ---> ), but from what I can tell, the board seems to be in a negative mood. Why? Because we lost a game we should have won? Big deal. That s*** will happen to you several times throughout the year(they are called blown saves, walk-off homers, or both...the name "Carl f***ing Crawford" comes up now and then too), and you will win games you should have lost. Today's game is just magnified because it is opening day. Today, we started the year off 0-1, just like 15 other teams will start the year off. Hopefully, Wednesday, we'll win. In this game, we got everything we needed to win, except for a pitcher who could close the whole thing out(which could be considered a slight mistake by Ozzie...maybe bringing Politte in during the 8th would have been the wiser move, but that move really means very little and this is one of those cases where hindsight is 20-20, and the same thing could have actually happened to him in the 9th again had he come in during the 8th). We get runs, some from homers, some from timely hitting. We were moving around the bases and were playing some live baseball - I saw a stolen base or two, the main one being Paul Konerko(who said he was slow again?), and there was a hit and run on too(I think that was one more hit and run than JM had all last year). We just got a bad break in there with Willie's bullet right to Sweeney's glove to double off Alomar(if that's up two feet or more towards the hole between 1st and 2nd, we're setting the table for a huge inning...maybe 1st and 2nd, no outs when Jose gets that double, and Jose is bringing in our 9th run of the game then, and more damage is done...who knows?) Basically, we did everything we needed to do to win this game today, except to actually win the game(that's the thing you need to do first and foremost though ). If we play similar to that or better for 161 more games, I will be happy and I guarantee you that we win the division. The team I saw on the field today playing the Royals is easily a 90-95 win team.

One thing you need to know about me. If I say it, and it doesn't make sense, don't take it seriously.
-
I just messing around with you. New poster initiation, you know? I think if he gets off to a fast start, we should deal him. See if we can get a good starter for him, and then after that, deal for a solid 1Bman as well. I'd take Randall Simon or Tino Martinez. Either would be good for me.

I think I am going to go change my name to Steve. Then the chicks will be all on my like they wanna hold hands. Reminds me of a song... "These chicks don't even know the name of my band. But they're all up on my like they wanna hold hands."
