  1. QUOTE(Sonik22 @ Sep 11, 2007 -> 02:43 PM) Seneca Wallace is moving to Wide Receiver. That's why Seattle accepted this trade. seriously?
  2. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Sep 11, 2007 -> 11:38 AM) You're right. The 6 2/3 innings he pitched for the Yankees when he was 22 were godawful. Sorry, just a slight memory mis-recollection. Compare Gavin Floyd's first 100-120 innings in the majors to Jake Westbrook's. Compare how old they were when they came up, and what their peripherals looked like. And then compare their stuff to one another's. Personally, I believe they are very similar. That's the comparison I would make, and have made for about the past month or two.
  3. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Sep 11, 2007 -> 11:26 AM) I changed my mind. Floyd is great, as are Fields, Richar, Gonzalez, and Owens. I will disregard the 7-21 record the last 28 games. The Sox have the best owner, GM , manager and players in the game. It was just a fluke this year it didn't work out. Its worked out so often in the past. At least once since 1917. Its funny guys talk about others egos when stating opinions that differ from theirs. Maybe they are looking in the wrong direction for inflated egos. Yep, that's exactly what we've said all along. Floyd is great, and with Fields, Richar, Gonzalez, and Owens, the Sox will be back on top in no time. :rolly Get real.
  4. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Sep 11, 2007 -> 09:42 AM) He did suck before he threw one pitch for the Sox, check his performance in Philadelphia. As far as I can tell, even with his September awakening his ERA this season is near 6.00. Maybe you think that's outstanding, but I think it sucks. Jake Westbrook sucked with the Yankees too. He turned out all right.
  5. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Sep 11, 2007 -> 10:24 AM) "Internet Egos" = KW's "Can't possibly admit Gavin's not a Top Prospect" ego. And you're just as guilty as I. You called Jerry Owens' recent success the worst thing that could happen to this team. s***, man. Jerry's just turning it around and showing us what he's REALLY capable of. Why would you put him down like that, yo? What's up with that? One of them has the job to back it up though
  6. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Sep 11, 2007 -> 08:48 AM) But hey, I'm going to leave this thread to the "believers" and the "converted" It's really not that hard to be a league average starter.
  7. QUOTE(SoxAce @ Sep 11, 2007 -> 01:06 AM) So... does Eli Manning have a separated shoulder? Yes or No. ESPN isn't even sure although Chris Mortenson is but the Giants front office isn't. EDIT: Orlando Pace's shoulder injury apperantly career threatening. (probably career ending) I think it's safest to say slightly separated shoulder; that's what I believe ESPN said. And that'd be terrible about Pace; what a horrendous way to see a Hall of Fame career end.
  8. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Sep 10, 2007 -> 10:46 PM) The musical mystique from Wing of Southpark(the real life version). r u srs I listened on headphones, and I think my head is now about to explode.
  9. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Sep 10, 2007 -> 07:50 PM) I know someone who thinks the Tigers will trade Granderson to really maximize his value. "Not a chance in hell," I said. That'd be so dumb. I love Maybin, but that'd be so damn dumb.
  10. QUOTE(SoxAce @ Sep 10, 2007 -> 09:55 PM) Bro, STFU. Seriously. For one, it's obvious I made the pray part yesterday when Brown went down and didn't even know he was going to be done for the season. I made it because I wanted everyone to pray that the injurt wasn't seriously and was going to be okay, not because his season yet again ends (and you were active yesterday [technically today considerng it was lik 2 am when I did it]) Obviously Everett is in career/life threatening danger and I acknowleged him earlier in this thread, but why don't you mind your own damn buisness (usually I just blow off/don't pay attention to your smartaloic post to certian posters or myself when you post the obvious but this time this post seriously pissed the f*** outta me.) Hell, your one of the smartest posters (baseball wise) here and your posting utter s*** like this? GMAFB. Kevin Everett's life is in jeopardy, and his life is (almost) assured of never being the same again. Mike Brown will (essentially) live a completely normal life from this point out. It's slightly different circumstances. I've overstepped my boundaries here, but praying for a knee injury while not praying for a player in critical condition just doesn't seem right to me.
  11. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Sep 10, 2007 -> 09:31 PM) So what would Johan Santana or just about any other major league pitcher in baseball's stats look like if you threw out their 10 worst starts? Well, for starters, you'd be throwing out about 8 weeks then instead of 5. And secondly, Garland would look a lot better compared to his numbers than Johan would to his. An ERA of 7+ for a stretch of two months will kill your ERA. And if it matters, I'm in agreement with you; you can't take out a stretch from a player's year, especially when Garland has gone through a very similar stretch for 2 straight years. It's just that it wouldn't have as big of a difference as you may think it would be.
  12. QUOTE(Brian @ Sep 10, 2007 -> 08:45 PM) Ray Lewis tore his tricep and played through it. Could be out for the year. I see Ray Lewis playing through a torn tricep. If he can walk, and he can hit hard, I see him playing. Maybe I'm overestimating his craziness, but he's crazy as s***.
  13. QUOTE(DrunkBomber @ Sep 10, 2007 -> 05:42 PM) What does one thing have to do with the other? Just because there was a more severe injury on another team we shouldnt wish the best for someone on our hometown team? Thats a little ridiculous. Praying for a knee injury? I hope Mike Brown comes back, becomes a more durable player, and is fulfills his talent and turns into one of the best safeties in the league as much as the next guy, but I'm not praying because he tore his ACL. Kevin Everett's life is in jeopardy here, and he's still likely to remain paralyzed if he does live.
  14. QUOTE(SoxAce @ Sep 10, 2007 -> 03:30 PM) I'll honor Mike Brown's play and possibly the last time he wears a bears uniform for the rest of the season. Sorry, I'm not praying for Mike Brown when a player from the Bills is in danger of losing his life and is likely to be paralyzed.
  15. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Sep 10, 2007 -> 09:59 AM) Before everybody breaks an arm patting the D-Backs on the shoulder and giving them kudos, don't forget the one fact that proves they are full of garbage. Luis Gonzalez, he and his 57 home runs, THAT Luis Gonzalez, was the star offensive player of their World Title team and had the game winning hit in game 7. Without his juiced up feats that season, they never even get to the World Series. So let's just slow down here. I know a different group was running things then, but I refuse to give an organization who won a title 6 years ago with a juicer as BY FAR their best offensive player much credit. It's different ownership dude. That's been stated in the thread already.
  16. hell Rollins has a shot at getting to 30-20-30-30. That's even more impressive than Granderson. And I thought for some ridiculous reason that Philly would have traded him last offseason. Who the hell was I kidding?
  17. QUOTE(Vance Law @ Sep 10, 2007 -> 12:51 AM) I'm confused by the 3 months remaining on his deal part (why not the entire 2007 season?). I suppose the differences between the 2 situations I would say are are: Garcia'd had a pretty stellar career, been dominant, and was coming off of ONE mediocre year in which he finished very strong. (obviously the "not having him do a physical" thing was stupid) Garland has been mediocre his entire career, had one very good year in '05, and now has 2 more mediocre years in a row. Depends how you define "stud prospects"- I wouldn't call Gio + Floyd "stud prospectS". Floyd the seemed happy to get rid of. Gio probably falls (or fell) short of "stud" status after his 4.66 ERA year in AA. 1 not-quite-stud and one throw in. Garland costs $2 million more, and particularly in the case of Colorado, can't imagine them taking on the $12 million. Yes, I think we can get some minor league pieces with potential for Garland, but I'd think it absurd to expect a teams top prospects for a one-year rental of a league average starter making $12 million. I was talking when the White Sox acquired Freddy Garcia. He had about a 3.20 ERA on the year, but Garland did essentially the same thing this past year, and then they were both mediocre (or in Garland's case, bad) for the rest of the year. The Sox traded Jeremy Reed, who was definitely a B prospect at the time, Miguel Olivo, who was the starting catcher for the White Sox and in the midst of a pretty solid season, along with Mike Morse; all in all, I'd say that looks to me like a B prospect along with two C prospects for a generally league average pitcher (who was pitching well but also only had 3 months guaranteed left on his deal, so it's a wash). I just don't see how the Sox can't get a B prospect along with two C prospects for Jon Garland, and I honestly would not be surprised to see two B prospects acquired for Garland. I'm not counting on it by any means, but I believe it's possible.
  18. QUOTE(SoxAce @ Sep 9, 2007 -> 10:05 PM) Everyone should also pray for Kevin Everett. (Bills reserve tight end) I saw the replay of his hit in the Bills-Broncos game and it was very serious. He just had surgery on his spine and his career is in serious jeporady. And it looks like the Bills got seriously beat up. They have a good list of injuries in just that one game. (you can see some to the right of the link I posted) Wite must be extremely proud. Definitely concerned about Everett; he had been a bit of a bust, had dealt with a few injuries, but he seemed to be working hard in turning himself into a good player, and then something absolutely terrible like this happens; just unfortunate. I hope he can make a strong recovery, but I have very serious, serious doubts he'll ever be the same person again, let alone being able to resume his career. David Pollack was hurt over a year ago and there's just no way he'll ever be the same player again either. And a terrible day for Bills football period. From what I could tell, the line looked pretty solid, but Losman just played like s***, the receivers didn't look good at all, the defense got absolutely torn to shreds (given, Denver's good, but it's never a good thing to give up 450+ yards), injuries just throttled the roster, and then they lose the game like that...just s***ty. With everything that went wrong today, it would have atleast been nice if we were able to steal that win, because Denver definitely outplayed us big time.
  19. QUOTE(Vance Law @ Sep 10, 2007 -> 12:09 AM) I just don't get how people come up with stuff like this. Just think for a second if the tables were reversed, that should take care of it. Would you want the Sox to trade some of their "stud prospects" (who cost no money)for a 1yr rental of a pitcher coming off 2 straight years of an ERA of 4.5 AND WHO COSTS $12 MILLION? No! I assume you'd go nuts as I would at how idiotic it was. Why on earth would it seem likely that major league GM, then, would do it? The White Sox did exactly that for Freddy Garcia. At the time, the market was down a bit, and Freddy Garcia only had about 3 months guaranteed on his deal.
  20. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Sep 9, 2007 -> 09:46 PM) Umm, I wasn't talking money. He's going to be a free agent, if I recall correctly. Why would anyone want him, though? if Phillips is on the 40-man, he's not going to be a free agent. However, as I recall, he is out of options following this season, so he'd have to clear waivers (which he probably would, but he's left-handed so perhaps not at the same time) or stay on the 25-man. I can't answer the 2nd part though, other than the left-handedness.
  21. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 9, 2007 -> 07:34 PM) Here's my problem with Furcal or Renteria....they'll be free agents after 2008, and they'll get huge money again. In a perfect world, we'd get a SS that is locked up for 3-4 years. that much is very true, but Furcal and Renteria just seem to fit what the organization is looking for more than Tejada does, and I like Furcal a bit more than I do Renteria. Not that I'd have any right to be upset over a 120 OPS+ out of the shortstop position, which is what Tejada would put up next year, and would actually probably be better for the team than Furcal or Renteria.
  22. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 9, 2007 -> 07:28 PM) I'm expecting Garland to get traded for Renteria or Tejada pretty early in the offseason. I'm also rather confident Sweeney will be included in a trade. I would absolutely be fine with either, though I'd much prefer Furcal to Renteria or Tejada.
  23. QUOTE(3E8 @ Sep 8, 2007 -> 01:10 PM) Bangin' body. I think the real reason she was kicked off is that the guys sitting around her had trouble getting their tray tables down. Underappreciated comment. And I agree
  24. go Joke...not like it matters anyway, Federer is not going down. If Federer brings his A-game, it's over in straight sets.
