Munemania: AL Rookie of the Month of May
But... Severino L.Butler Rooker Langeliers J.Wilson working on Kurtz but might be too late

Konnor Griffin $140 million/9 years
Counting Scenes already haha? Hayes is just under Grandal/Benintendi...right there with Luis Robert Jr. who just came 1/4" from two consecutive walks in SF. LuBob just made a jumping attempt that would undoubtedly have put him on the Sox DL for 4-6 weeks.

Ke'Bryan Hayes signed a $70 million extension that didn't age well.
-
4/2 Games
They really have to protect their bullpen if they're going to have 2-3 rookies debuting in the second half. Sandlin another outside of the Big 4, too.

Murakami nickname thread. Dubbed the "South Side Samurai". Will it stick?
Happened to my dorm-mate. Was with Houston during rebuild....lost his job during all those 100 loss seasons and as far as I understand is now working in college sports broadcasting, maybe Big 12. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brett_Dolan Much more professional and polished than Schriffen.

Insane the White Sox can barely afford $34 million when the freakin' Pirates just gave a mere teenager in Konnor Griffin up to $140 million.

Second Pitt $100+ million contract after B.Reynolds. Buys out three years of FA. Will be free agent again at 28 similar to Juan Soto with Nats. https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/mlb/pirates-to-make-huge-140-million-konnor-griffin-decision-for-next-nine-years/ar-AA201T43?ocid=BingNewsSerp

Fire Chris Getz
Guess you can compare it to the Braves when Avery Smoltz Glavine first came up....they took their lumps big time for ax season or two. Some might argue if a pitcher can survive Charlotte in one piece...they should be ready for the big leagues.

Mike Monaco was one...

4/2 Games
5 Ks through three iP for Smith. Velocity down 1-2 mph. Looks he he's headed for five innings.
-
4/2 Games
Not a well located 94.2 mph meatball from Smith. Luckily just a double. “Freddy Zamora advances to 3rd, on a throwing error by left fielder Dru Baker.” this sounds quite familiar

Schultz gets the call, Antonacci up too!
Don’t forget Ramírez always gets 30-40 stolen bases as well.
-
4/2 Games
Lee back in Charlotte for now. Hagen 95-97.4 first inning.

Official NBA 25-26 Thread
https://nypost.com/2026/04/02/opinion/ditching-jaden-ivey-chicago-bulls-expose-nbas-hypocrisy/ This will be cheered by roughly 15-20% of SoxTalk. Put Vrabel in a very tough position with his future star RB. Locker rooms in NBA and NFL probably in 80/85% agreement with this opinion piece fwiw. (Just read political/religious beliefs one of the primary drivers behind Tennessee's Kim Caldwell losing almost her entire team to the transfer portal.)

2026 MLB Draft Thread...White Sox Control Draft/V.Lackey closing fast
Reminds me of SI April Fool's Day story about imaginary legend Syd Finch decades ago. George Plimpton wrote it, if I remember correctly.

Out but not before his guaranteed contract expires and more damage is done. At least no Pearl Harbor jokes like 1600 with Japanese PM. Yet.

LUIS ROBERT TRADED
Not with the current 2029-30 contention timeline lol. We won't even get to enjoy Murakami for long at this rate.

Schultz gets the call, Antonacci up too!
They are already at risk of losing the fanbase yet again if they get totally buried in April. Teel was the emotional catalyst the second half. Just feels like something is missing with team chemistry.
-
Schultz gets the call, Antonacci up too!
He brings a lot of energy and enthusiasm. That said don't think the bat's close to ready yet. Certainly not the protypical LF st GRF.

Pierre was much better in CF. But that arm. Scotty Pods like. You're also forgetting Dayan and Josh Fields. Ron LeFlore. Lonnie Smith and some Rangers like Kevin Reimer and Incaviglia were the worst I can personally remember at that spot.

Still don't see Ant-Man as that huge impact franchise player where service time manipulation is a massive issue.

https://www.mlb.com/gameday/twins-vs-royals/2026/04/02/824133/final/wrap Watched a lot of Taj Bradley throwing 97-100 his first two games out. Great pick up by Twins. With Ryan (for now) and Ober, they are just head and shoulders ahead of the Sox. Same with young CLE pitching and obviously DET until Skubal departs.

2026 MLB Attendance Thread
Tanking controversy has been story of season. Then you also had the point shaving investigation with Billups etc. I honestly haven't watched many full NBA games since Jordan left the Bulls...maybe the Mavericks/Cavaliers finals. But that coming draft class is pretty much insane. A lot of instant impact. The weird thing here is that foreign players in mlb are much more compelling (at least to me) to watch compared to the NBA. Except for unicorn Wemby...but that Jokic style is just such an acquired taste. Maybe the collapse of the Warriors' dynasty as well. Fans complain about parity but love super teams like GS, Chiefs, Dodgers etc. I guess the final part is University of Iowa just not producing many NBA players. Just Keegan Murray and now Stirtz. https://sports.yahoo.com/nba/article/must-see-tv-the-alarming-data-behind-the-nbas-star-outage-for-national-games-191047923.html

Not the year with McGonigle Griffin Wetherholt DeLauter Mune.
