  1. Spencer Turnbull trying to hold off the Indians. 3-2 Tigers in the top of the sixth, man on 3rd, two outs, Harold Ramirez up. Just retired Jo.Ramirez and Rosario.
  2. Does he really strike you as the hitter with the most cerebral approach on the team...he's just up there cutting and slashing at whatever pitch he sees in front of him. Wouldn't have minded a bunt (for a hit) down the 3B line to keep the line moving and probably score a run.
  3. You just can't carry a .550 OPS hitter with below average outfield defense (who gives up a ton of hits over his head and takes bad routes). Waiting for Luis Robert to save the day isn't a very good strategy. Or Engel, for that matter.
  4. Shocking, another Leury at-bat with RISP. And it goes as expected. Vaughn back up to a .716 OPS, average still in 220's, think he's at least a 260-275 hitter this year (crosses fingers.)
  5. And are sitting on the best prospect in baseball...Wander Franco will be up in the next 2-3 weeks.
  6. That's the right approach. Take the pitcher's pitches...look for one to drive while you're working the count and wearing him down by the middle innings.
  7. Pitch framing, walking and occasionally running into a pitch and homering.
  8. White Sox have to be worst in the majors at holding runners/preventing steals. Can't get away with that at all in the post-season, when every base advanced counts. Guess the numbers weren't QUITE as bad as I thought. Actually, we're 9th at Fangraphs in total team defense. Rays/Padres 1st and 2nd.
  9. There are generally the type of pitchers that give the Sox fits until around the third time through the line-up...
  10. https://www.yahoo.com/sports/the-monday-9-mlb-vaccinations-are-stalling-out-dodgers-and-padres-are-not-142214746.html
  11. Why are we last in Asian players rostered/signed in MLB going back to the late 1990's?? Takatsu, Iguchi and briefly Fukudome.
  12. Probably a wink-wink agreement for taking him in and earning Boras millions in commissions on the next deal for Rodon (if if if he can stay healthy all season long and especially dazzle in October.)
  13. Reminder to TLR. Carpenter is nearly done. Don't treat him like he's the same threat from 5-7 years ago.
  14. Can we just give Nick Williams and Goodwin to the Tigers? Geez. That offense. If that doesn't help, loan Burgatron/Sheets/Rutherford. Even with just three starters and without F.Reyes for 5-7 weeks, that scrappy team is hanging in there.
  15. I wonder why more teams don’t go after Paddy, as he’s the linchpin for LA evaluations and the majority of signings.
  16. Might have been wrong to joke...
  17. Mikolas, Franmil Reyes (5-7 weeks for the dreaded oblique) and Maeda all go on IL...
  18. https://www.nbcsports.com/boston/red-sox/tony-la-russas-screwups-reminder-white-sox-shouldve-hired-alex-cora Everyone seems to have moved on from Hinch already...Cora’s doing a great job with Boston, and Sale returning this year could swing the division....depending on which version of Severino and Sale show up for their respective teams.
  19. By the way, my new priority in life is to catch you in likes before the All Star Break. Don’t say you weren’t warned, Skoal Bandit.
  20. I gave up worrying about emojis a long time ago, whereas it still seems to be bothering you because you bring it up occasionally...and, as far as KyLle and his Army of the Dead goes, he has his lane. As long as it doesn’t entail “driving” a Pontiac Fiero into outer space, we’ll all somehow be okay.

  22. Well, considering that MOST of my posts were in the numerous years before 2019 when the site went in this direction...and I didn't post anything in the first three months of that 2019 season, and didn't in general post much at all for around a year until Covid-19 hit Wuhan here in January of 2020, that just MIGHT explain it. This is where you're misreading statistics, because Chisxfn or all those on the Top 10 list would be running circles around everyone here, but some of them aren't or haven't posted as much due to changing life circumstances in the last 2-3 seasons. If you had some actual way to go back to the very beginning of the emoji system and calculate "likes per post" beginning on that day, then you might actually have a pretty valid point. Of the top posters on this site, almost all of them are going to be in that 1/4th to 1/2 range for the reasons I just explained. LONG posting history before the controversial (LOL) institution of the emoji system you seem to be so obsessed with, like getting likes or comments at FB or Insta could mean anything or nothing. It could be you have hired an army of Ukrainian bots to give yourself likes from VPN-hidden ISP's, right? Or recruited friends and family to "like" all your posts in order to game the system and earn thousands per month...check that...ZERO dollars for your efforts/perceived popularity. It's basic mathematics. Unless you really think someone can be a member for 10+ years, and then suddenly post 15-20,000 messages per year...but that's hidden now with the time/date of one's original post gone/hidden/missing from the profiles. We can easily see this phenomenon play out with Fathom, one of the most famous posters here. 6939/123,755=0.056 likes per post (or just 5.6% of posts are liked). Oh my god, what is going on? Ron is more than TEN TIMES more popular/successful/cool/hip/trendy than the almighty Fathom. He maybe should be nominated for an Honorary SoxTalk Moderating Position/Officially-Designated Spokesperson for a Tobacco-Free Board.
  23. https://www.mlb.com/stats/?playerPool=QUALIFIED_ROOKIES Looks like Texas' Adolis Garcia would win if the voting was held today, with Yermin beating out Arozarena and Baddoo for 2nd. Vaughn and Madrigal within a single OPS point of each other, both just south of 700. Nobody really stands out on the pitching side. Kopech, Luis Garcia (HOU), MIze (DET) and Josh Fleming (TBR).
  24. Tatis, Jr., is her favorite player, lol...and this is exactly the crazy kind of play he would attempt, except into the 3B stands.
