3/28 | Padres vs White Sox | 3:05PM CT | ESPN1000
Hit: Open stance with a wide base, knees bent. Keeps his hands high and behind his head. Some pre-pitch body sway and bat movement. Moderate leg kick as he steps into the pitch. Wide base at impact. Average or better bat speed. Inconsistent bat path that tends to be upward; gets the ball in the air to the pull-side on pitches middle-to-up in the zone. Takes some big cuts. Has a good eye on pitches out of the zone, but struggles with offspeed stuff down. Shows good bat-to-ball skills and fights off pitches in the upper half of the zone, although he is often behind on velocity. Grade: 45 https://www.prospectslive.com/scoutingreports/gavin-sheets

Offseason Part 3 - Because Part 2 Was a Dud
Who would the Rays DH then?

Offseason Part 3 - Because Part 2 Was a Dud
He's their annointed 2023 closer, apparently. Still think this Kimbrel thing bleeds over into the regular season and how Kimbrel looks then and what type of start the Rays get off to.

**Movies that we Watch** Thread
Watched CODA last night, very solid film. If you don't believe it should have won Best Film, variety.com's Owen Gleiberman has a really insightful article on it up now. The one thing NOBODY is talking about because of Smith/Rock is how Regina Hall was basically throwing herself at "handsome young studs" as a now single woman, almost groping people on stage. Were that a male actor, well, he would already be cancelled out of existence. I guess it is what it is.

Offseason Part 3 - Because Part 2 Was a Dud
That's why they would prefer to dump him before Meadows...along with age, salary and fall off in offensive production. "The Rays seem to have ample bullpen depth, and with rosters expanding from 26 to 28 for the first month, they could carry 15 or even 16 pitchers. Fairbanks’ absence could open a spot for Jason Adam, Chris Mazza or Ryan Thompson, or another lefty, to make the roster." Just keep reloading. TampaBay.com/sports

For Meadows or Kiermaier? Still have Kittredge, Beeks, Nick Anderson...

Offseason Part 3 - Because Part 2 Was a Dud
Well, except where the budget limit has been reached or we're waiting on Godot/Kimbrel to be dealt first. Right now, Leury and/or Harrison might be the reason we don't have another spare $3-4 million on one more pitcher...or signing both Kelly and Graveman, etc. I guess TLR/Hahn are waiting to comb over DFA's the final 10 days of spring training and take fliers on at least 2 more starters for Charlotte.

Location, getting ahead in counts, differentiating the speed 10+ MPH on his secondary pitches...there are a million different angles. For whatever reason, he seem to struggle most with runners on base or in scoring position and two outs. So a lot of it's psychological, and/or gaining experience.

Can we instead have Sean or Jay?

Offseason Part 3 - Because Part 2 Was a Dud
It's pretty telling that the Padres resorted to starting Arietta and VV down the stretch and wanted nothing to do with bringing him back.

Thought that was Common for a second...sporting a new look.

How to Contact the White Sox Execs/Sponsors and Demand TLR’s Termination
Well, TLR basically declared war on his own fanbase, after all...

Offseason Part 3 - Because Part 2 Was a Dud
The old Kotsay vs. Thome debate. Culminating with Jim taking Matty deep near the end of that 2010 campaign.

What would that do to your pitching staff knowing so many balls are going to fall in that wouldn't with an average MLB RFer? It's much easier said than done for competitive athletes. See Aaron Rowand always throwing his body around. Part of his built-in DNA.

Vaughn has a hip pointer injury, out 1-2 weeks
The game has changed a lot the last decade. Kapler, Cora, Cash, Hinch and Roberts are the next generation. The old school guys are almost all gone...just Melvin, Showalter and Maddon remaining.

Still, not completely necessary to make it more about yourself. That worked with Guillen, to a point, but not so well after a decade away from the game... well, he ONLY needs 11 more years at 90 wins per season nly realistically think about catching Connie Mack. And nobody playing baseball today was even alive in 1979 when TLR started managing. Pujols born in 1980.

You're either with the terrorists/Russians/Taliban or you're with TLR...apparently. I mean, middle schoolers with Strat O Matic cards can do better roster construction and still look to get better instead of creating on their laurels.

Offseason Part 3 - Because Part 2 Was a Dud
When you lose 2 of your Top 4-5 hitters and somehow replace them both...with one a Top 5 player in all of MLB, things are going your way in a sequence of events that's unrepeatable, like Sox starters and bullpen in 2005.

Almost got out of it...recorded first two outs with bases loaded and then touched up by Alfaro for a bases clearing double. Jimenez and Alfaro clearly the hottest hitters for both organizations...along with TA7.

Ummm....Grisham, Myers and Abrams could easily be the starters. Profar as supersub. Trayce Thompson has been starting recently. Roster filler. Same with Mazara. Jorge Alfaro continues monster spring fighting with Caratini for #2 job. Out of options like Adolfo. Will likely carry 3 guys the first month.
