Official 2026 win prediction thread.
McGonigle the #2 prospect in baseball…and Clark’s at least a half season away at least. https://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/article/mlb-opening-day-2026-how-different-are-all-30-teams-compared-to-last-season-222142839.html Tigers actually lead all of baseball in % of plate appearances and IP returning. See link above. Detroit offense was much better than most think, with Greene-Carpenter-Torkelson at its heart. Lots of versatility there as well. Voted for just below the median at 64-65-66. Pitching staff (starters) is certainly going to take their lumps.

Opening Day Roster set
Vargas is one of the few positions NOT in the bottom ten across mlb…but just barely. “Luisangel Acuña quickly locked up center with his impressive athleticism and excellent showing at the plate. However, with some less-than-stellar results in his previous big league stints, the leash could be relatively short. This would feel even more like the case if Brooks Baldwin is added back into the mix upon his return from the 10-day IL. Baldwin had a very solid spring and offers some valuable defensive versatility. Having said that, Derek Hill checks a very similar box and may currently have as much of Venable's trust. Even Tristan Peters has some high upside defensive chops that he paired with some solid plate appearances in camp.” Si.com Peters is already 26 and has subpar exit velocity. Just don’t get it as Peters Hill Baldwin all bring somewhat similar profiles….unless Baldwin’s suddenly more than a 12-15 homer power hitter.

White Sox sign Reese McGuire, Korey Lee won't make MLB roster
Romo playing in 6-10 games would cost them how many wins? 1/2 a game of fWAR at most? just not sure it’s worth a premium…as well as dumping a much younger guy with two vital carrying tools.

White Sox “dissed” by FG projections…or not?
Position by position, White Sox still lack juice in power...While the White Sox have yet to unveil their Opening Day roster, the overall shape of the season is less contingent on the exact selection of players they send to Milwaukee on Thursday, and more relia most controversial Catcher #26 SS #21 Bullpen #13 Feels closer/more accurate… 2B 20 3B 19 1B 18 LF 30 CF 29 RF 28 DH 28 that seems low, but maybe not Hays should be better, Tauchman quite solid in RF-DH role last year starting pitching #29

White Sox sign Reese McGuire, Korey Lee won't make MLB roster
This knowledge was in every scouting report on Lee at the time of his acquisition from HOU. “Lee didn't become a full-time catcher until 2019 and has yet to start more than 73 games behind the plate in a pro season. While he's quicker and more athletic than most backstops and features plus-plus arm strength, his receiving and blocking skills draw mixed reviews. He has done a better job in 2023 and the consensus is that he's an average defender.” lol @ Reddit “Space Cowboys fan - Ceiling would be higher than Wilson Contreras, but Lee is a pure upside prospect. His plate discipline is atrocious right now and he’ll never be anything if he can’t get that fixed.” Statcast defensive numbers were all negative.

Frank Thomas Suing Sox
The Giolito arb hearing over $25 or $50000 or whatever it amounted to was ridiculous as well…all vengeance simply because of players’ union related activities.

Possible rough start of the regular season
https://www.fangraphs.com/standings/playoff-odds/fg/mlb Fangraphs currently has Sox projected at 67-95, 1/2 of 1% wild card odds. Rockies last at .002. Sox tied with Nationals for worst playoff probability. Tigers Royals Twins Guardians Sox in that order. Entire division but Detroit .500 or under. One game behind Nationals…68 vs. 67

Maybe he and Fegan have a secret predictions pact. Getz wins over some AL Executive of the Year votes with 81+ wins.

Possible rough start of the regular season
Generally, he has been pretty fair and balanced the last 2-3 seasons. with that rotation and the Teel injury, 63-67 wins was never far from the realm of possibility. But ending back in the 50s is the one thing they can’t afford. Then they’re the Nationals and stuck/mired…although the #1 overall pick mitigates some of that. 61-101 was the exact same result another ESPN listicle arrived at with a totally different formula. Btw, the site is completely a minefield on mobile right now. iPad is fine at least.

White Sox sign Reese McGuire, Korey Lee won't make MLB roster
Even mlbtraderumors can't make sense of it. "Lee is out of minor league options and sending either Teel or Quero down to Triple-A doesn’t seem to be in Chicago’s long-term interest (unless either is really struggling), so it creates an interesting question as to what will happen when Teel is healthy and the Sox are juggling four backstops. For now, McGuire will suit up for his former team and look to provide his usual solid glovework. A top prospect back during his time in the Pirates’ farm system, McGuire has settled into a journeyman/backup type of career, playing for six different organizations during his career. McGuire has hit .248/.293/.374 with 25 homers over 1178 career plate appearances, with nine of those home runs coming last year with the Cubs (as part of a .226/.245/.444 slash line in 140 PA)."

That was from new friends and extended family banging down the gates...

White Sox sign Reese McGuire, Korey Lee won't make MLB roster
It's like they signed him to the prorated equivalent of a $7-7.5 million dollar deal if he's gone in one month...in terms of value.

White Sox sign Reese McGuire, Korey Lee won't make MLB roster
In what world is McGuire worth more to a future Sox championship? If they just end up DFAing Lee with nothing in return...this move is just pointless.

White Sox sign Reese McGuire, Korey Lee won't make MLB roster
Usually Getz holds on to trade acquisitions for at least one year. One wonders how much of this is the fear of being criticized in the short term when a trade goes south… That said, it’s pretty clear he’s not being allowed to dump Benintendi for financial reasons. just feels like he’s only made the right calls in terms of player evaluations between 1/4th and 1/3rd of that time…that’s a recipe for disaster for a team without a $100 million payroll, let alone $135-155 million, which is much closer to average.

White Sox sign Reese McGuire, Korey Lee won't make MLB roster
A couple of years ago they had one of those articles about which organizations had created the most fWAR through draft and international signings over their eventual big league careers. The White Sox were right around the middle of the pack. Of course they were about to lose 100 games for three consecutive years. Rodón Sale Semien Tatis Cease and now Crochet and even Andrew Vaughn have continued to add to that total.

2025-26 NCAA Basketball
Either way a great story. 2000 MSU was last national title. Six G10 in Sweet 16. Michigan feels like team of destiny. After Cignetti and IU football...anything seems possible. Iowa Nebraska Illinois one of them likely to Final 4. Heck, even rooted for ISU against KY after they lost their best player. Also UNC KY ($22 million roster) and Indiana are a hot mess. 8 of last 9 national champs have failed to make the Sweet 16 the following season. Wild. KCCITrue madness: Iowa stuns No. 1 Florida, advances to first...WHAT. A. GAME.
