  1. Struggles with another 92 mph pitch, this time a slider...
  2. https://blogs.fangraphs.com/sunday-notes-alex-kirilloff-wore-out-iron-mike-taylor-trammell-is-a-work-of-art/ Assume you’re talking about Reyes...
  3. Yeah...the only lefty hitters are Hosmer, Urias and Mejia, needed some more balance from their outfield.
  4. Engel career lowlight having Yolmer Sanchez walked intentionally to get to him...
  5. Five blown saves after M’s didn’t lose a game that he entered with the lead last year. Colome comes in for a tie game.
  6. Diaz not exactly boosting his value...just deep enough from Anderson.
  7. Reyes is the only one with any real long term value...Allen isn’t that impressive.
  8. https://www.cleveland.com/tribe/2019/07/cleveland-indians-trade-trevor-bauer-to-reds-acquire-yasiel-puig-franmil-reyes-and-logan-allen-in-3-team-deal-per-reports.html Victor Nova in AZL, not much of a future on the left side of Padres’ infield http://www.milb.com/player/index.jsp?sid=milb&player_id=675528#/career/R/hitting/2019/ALL
  9. More bunting...crazy that worked. Renteria thinks he’s with the 85 Cardinals or 2014-15 Royals...along with those shutdown bullpens.
  10. Mets’ announcers astounded Syndegaard was pulled.
  11. Because he has a -0.3 fWAR over his entire Tigers’ career...which spans four full seasons.
  12. Huge is pushing it. A couple of 1-2 fWAR power hitters with limited defensive skills, especially Reyes...
  13. Puig and Reyes are below average defenders, Franmil worth 1.2 fWAR last year and 1.4 (heading for 2) this year. If you judge him solely by OPS and gaudy homer numbers, you’re making a mistake. Puig 1.8 and 0.9 the last two seasons...but still two upgrades compared to what they were running out there. The issue is that you have to believe Kluber, Carrasco, Bieber and Clevinger can carry that rotation and stay healthy. Bauer has the best stuff, but most volatile and self-destructive. This is all about Francona controlling that clubhouse and not tolerating Bauer’s idiosyncrasies, not after Sunday’s inexplicable meltdown.
  14. San Diego still has Jankowski (recovering from injury), Cordero, Margot, Myers and Renfroe and Josh Naylor...and have even been trying Mejia out there. Nobody will take Myers’ contract, need Margot for defense and they desperately needed to add athleticism/speed/range to their outfield. In the long term, their outfield has to be Renfroe, Myers and Trammell.
  15. On the flip side of that, Taylor Trammell is listed among the biggest fallers, dropping from 15 to 28 on the list. Here’s what they had to say: Knew the Padres had to trade someone to break the OF logjam, and they chose to keep Renfroe due to the fact he’s a better defender and flashes a great throwing arm (second most assists). Reyes is streaky as hell. Allen was down to their #7 pitching prospect and didn’t show that much in the majors this year when he had the opportunity.
  16. Yeah, I'm glad to stay away from the "dark web" (too many seasons of Mr. Robot), 4Chan, 8Chan, reddit, can't even keep track of it all...I just know that FB and Twitter (other than for politics) are no longer cool and nearly everyone around the world now fashions themselves as an "internet influencer" who "claps back" on haters, breaks the internet, etc. I swear to God if you open up Yahoo these days, 75% of the stories are about the Kardashians, AOC, Jenners, Warren Buffett, Liz Hurley wearing a bikini at age 53 and Suze Orman fighting with the FIRE crowd of Milennials.
  17. I can't imagine sending Burdi out there to get his brains beaten in...which would then be yet another reminder of that 2016 season and curiously selecting him in order to contribute to the supposed pennant race THAT season (see Sale, Chris, 2010). Let him join his brother with the Pirates, who's recovering from thoracic-outlet surgery. Seems neither of those kids can ever stay healthy.
  18. No, no, around here anything is possible these days...it could be a 13-15 year old kid for all we know, who's idealistic or optimistic about everything concerning the sport he loves.
  19. He wasn't even in the US at that time...and didn't have any standing with the MLBPA to negotiate anything, so I hope you're being sarcastic but it's difficult to tell these days.
  20. Terrible team, and will soon lose Mancini...their starter last night finished with a 7+ ERA and today’s is averaging 83-86 with his fastball and getting hit around like its BP. Guess Rondon will share time with Martin, Villar, Alberto... http://www.milb.com/player/index.jsp?sid=milb&player_id=668939#/career/R/hitting/2019/ALL It’s even rubbing off on Adley...Sox fans would be flipping out if Vaughn was putting up those numbers out of the gate. Surely it’s just rust from such an extended layoff.
  21. Loopholes, just like the tax code. Always there to be exploited by owners/management...if Robert wasn’t already sitting on plenty of money already and wanted to fight the front office, it would be pretty much impossible to justify from a baseball perspective why he shouldn’t be starting in CF in Chicago. Not enough time in AAA, pitchers haven’t had an opportunity to adjust to him...he hasn’t proven he can battle through a slump, quality (not command/control) of stuff in AAA is lower than AA, etc.
